Actually...... This was played by J. Lawrence Cook who was allowed to use Max Kortlander as a pseudonym after Kortlander assumed ownership of QRS in the mid early 1930's. After 1927, very few rolls were actually arranged by Mr. Kortlander. Eventually, Mr. Cook became the chief arranger wherein he was using the names Pep Doyle, Fats Waller, Max Kortlander and Sid Laney as well as most of the pseudonyms Kortlander himself used.
