Officer Young was my professor at TSU and I can tell you she was a woman of integrity then and she is now. She is a very genuine person.

@awesomecaws A lot of universities do people dirty, but they sweep it under the rug unless someone stands up and even then they will deny it unless you collected the proof.

Also, this cop lady needs to get her books in order. It's that....well... simple. The story is bogus because the President CANNOT "retaliate" against anyone. Her actions are controlled (and approved) by the Board of Regents who are all appointed by Abbott. Even the Student regent is appointed by Abbott. I can guarantee you have no clue what the Administration or The President has done nor how hard they are working. It's okay. You're clueless and lazy. @Thereh3go That may be true, but not to the level of TSU. TSU Administration members are understaffed and overworked, they can't possibly address half of the problems they are responsible for.
TSU, need to run the school like a University and not a 3rd ward and community hookup. Stop hiring you unqualified family and freinds.

I think, The Chief is making a baseless petty accusation against the President.
The President could not take such action without the Board.
The Board can also launch its own investigation. A complaint could have been filed by the department that oversees Department of Public Safety's budget.
It also could have been a whistleblower from within the Department of Public Safety itself.
Just because the Chief publicly accuses or assumes it was the University President doesn't mean that is the case.
This happens a lot,when you call BS" out ,state jobs have a lot of this bs"!!

Can't believe a university president is this stupid...... Chief Young will win this case, and that president should be removed. I been knowing this woman over 20 yrs and she is as real, caring, professional, and dedicated as she presents herself.

What I do know for sure, having worked and retired from the State of Texas, is that when the State says, "No overtime", it is not to be granted. Put simply, The State of Texas does not play when it comes to OT.
There is a STATE limit (i.e. a cap) on the amount of OT hours an employee can accrue. AND to exceed that SET LIMIT/CAP an employee or supervisor MUST have OT approval granted by UPPER management. Fact: This process used to drive me crazy.
In the Chief's case, she has to go to her bosses to get authorization from them and the Budget office.
EACH university department - including TSU Police - gets an ANNUAL appropriation including predicted OT compensation from the university's Fiscal Operating Budget. IF ANY department goes over the appropriation then the university's whole budget is thrown off, which is why departments must REQUEST additional funding allocations. TSU is on course to have an overall balanced budget.
If Sistergirl Chief was not managing her budget properly by allowing O/T as if it were her own funds - with no UPPER LEVEL approval nor intervention - then it could be deemed mismanagement OR FRAUD by the university (and/or State). That is why there is an investigation.
Further, I believe our university President has NOTHING to do with this allegation by the TSU Police Chief. Come on, seriously? The President has bigger fish to fry. This is total petty bull💩 with coincidental timing, in my opinion. Miss Chief.....get your budget money and hours straight, honey. 🧐😉😂
In my opinion, some of y'all need to watch the Board of Regents meetings that are held every month - and are posted online. It's truly not that easy for the President to take such an action against a ranking department head without the Board. That is what led to the last guy's (President Lane) unfortunate and turbilant firing-dismissal-resignation.
Last, I don't know if this is the case, but if it was written into HER CONTRACT that she could use university police for special events and special assistance.....y'all gonna be shook.
I was the one that helped to bring Dr Lane and Wendell down. They fired me unjustly and Me King and so many staff and faculty. I met with the attorneys for the board and gave them the true dirt on our admissions numbers etc and all the dirt that was being done. The news didn’t want my story but the board wanted my testimony. I was there when Chief Mary first came and she is a stellar officer and a credit to Texas Southern. This is the problem with TSU and all HBCUs is the whole Divine 9 politics.

We don't know the officer's motivations. It could have been something as simple as him showing respect for her. It's okay to do nice things for and to be a gentleman for Black women.

If this was a male supervisor or company CEO ordering his female professional employees to make his coffee, carry his briefcase, go to restaurants for takeout lunch, hold his jacket and other demeaning chores, you would be supporting a lawsuit and his termination. Because the TSU president is a female and you are minimizing her abusive behavior. This is a prime example of the hypocrisy that has intertwined into African-American culture and has twisted many people's view on ethical behavior.

Well, apparently, one of her officers or all do not like her and wanted her gone because how would the president or anyone else for that matter find out about something that she instructed her officers not to do? I believe she put herself in the position she is in and instead of telling her officers that, she should have taken it up directly with the school. That’s the issue with people like her, instead of resolving the issue, she makes her subordinates do it. Something like that should have been addressed higher up since she was aware of the issue. Imagine being those officers having to tell someone, no I can’t do that for you anymore. That’s just weird and uncomfortable. Now, she mad that they cooked up some way to get rid of her. What did she expect? Not saying it’s right to wrongfully terminate people but if we have to be honest workplace retaliation secretly happens all the time and it’s typically orchestrated by the people you have an issue with. I hope she wins the lawsuit if she in fact did not commit fraud and that she handles issues like these head on next time. If you can talk the talk then you should be able to walk the walk right?

Second time I've heard of a chief or LT getting in trouble for approving hours they didn't work. They do this to get rid of your ass to make it seem like your a bad dirty cop. There is an officer in MS who's fighting for her job now as she's been suspended for I guess unapproved hours. That cheif is doing her job well and looks great doing it FYI 💯💯🔥🔥
