Completely of topic question, have you performed relative compression test using crank sensor signal with a lab scope? If the computer can use this to set misfire codes, can we use the same logic of crank acceleration/deceleration pulses? Thank you in advance for your answer.
@@MechanicMindset Fun project, disable fuel, graph RPM and MAF 5 second crank, remove a spark plug to simulate low compression, repeat graph RPM and MAF for 5 seconds. Compare the readings and see if this would be a useful preliminary test on a vehicle with a misfire to determine if the misfire is due to internal engine issue. Let me know what you think, thank you in advance.
@@MechanicMindset thanks heaps, really appreciate it, it's because I've got an E90 320i in Australia, and I need to do a reset because I'm changing the DME because I'm 80 % sure that is my Valvetronic issue, according to my diagnosis
This Thinkdiag is impressive. I have the newr version called Thinkdiag 2 and it does so much more and competes with my Launch x431 for only 100$. This Thinkdiag 2 also out performs the Topdon Topscan in my opinion it does cost 80$ a year to renew but thats a small price to pay for what you get
For the money they both are almost 100$ so it would be ashame for someone not.to buy The Thinkdiag 2 if.theynare interested.. I also like how it has a cord so youn don't forget in vehicle. It.rests on top of.steering wheel or in driver.sidemdoor holder. I went with Thinkdiag 2 because it does what a thousand dollarnscanner.does. I didn't renew my Launch scanner after.the two years because they wanted $584 to renew five.vehicle makes for one year which is insane.
Another of topic question, in a vehicle with a secure gateway, if you tap into the twisted pair and jump it into an aldl break out box will the scan tool work? Effectively bypassing the secured gateway? Thank you in advance for your answer.

For BMWs, for mobile diagnostic on the go, you can’t beat Protool.
I have the ThinkDiag 2 and it is quite capable. I also have the Thinkcar Platinum S10 Pro.
I have the 2 also. It has actually improved since I first got it last year. Pretty useful stuff!

It’s possible, but the relative compression with current/voltage is probably more convenient 👍

Nice and handy, but will never replace a good old Rheingold ISTA
Do you know if I can I do a Valvetronic reset with the Thinkdiag 2 ?
It might be possible with an active subscription; I think it depends on the vehicle, not so much the tool.

Thanks for sharing! Yes the ‘2’ has some more features right? We’ll try and get one soon.
It is pretty close to the same capabilities. However, it has CanFD capability, BT 5.0, and better hardware.

Hi, I’m not sure, but doubt it. Never tried!

Hello i want to pico scope 2205a is it better than 2204a what do you advise me
2205a has twice the memory of the 2204a.
Good job
So much in menu, wonder how many it does for real.
I think it’s hit and miss, but that’s not different to a $4000 tool 🤣
"Promo SM" 😋
