With the release of Helix Firmware 2.8 and the addition of some fabulous new overdrive pedals, I wanted to take a deep look into the new King Of Tone, Prince Of Tone and Hermida ZenDrive pedals. These are incredible new additions to the Helix family of pedals and IMO Line 6 really knocked it out of the park yet again. In this video, I take you through all the parameters and controls of each pedal and let you hear how they sound going into the front of a clean Grammatico amp model. I really hope you enjoy the tones and the breakdown of these amazing new pedal models :-)
Thanks so much for watching and please subscribe to my channel if you are so inclined...

I own the King of Tone
Put myself on the waiting list and forgot I did
18 months later I received an email saying it’s my turn.
Of course I got it.
Amazingly the Helix model nailed it!
And yes the presence is the internal trim pot. Use with caution.
All the parameters act just as they do on the pedal.
Thanks Jason great explanation of both overdrives.
Thanks so much Emilio :-)
same here, but sold mine after I did a DIY copy of it that sounded exactly the same. Now with the helix I don't even use the DIY pedal anymore because it's so well modeled.
Jason, you’re so talented sir. I literally think you could take a pig nose amp and a first act guitar and make it sound like a $10,000 rig. Thank you for sharing your splendid work!!!
Haha, thank you so much for the kind words John :-)
Another great video Jason , you always present really thoroughly , Well done.
Thank you so much Steve :-)
Great as always, Jason. I’m digging the ZenDrive.
Thank you so much :-) I am also really liking it!
Love the new pedals in the update!
Yes, me too very much :-)
Wow, I chucked the Tone Soverign in front of your Mayer patch (with some slight adjustments to suit my strat) and have my HX paired with a real pedal board. Boosted with a Keeley Katana, engaged and magic happened. Best tone i've heard out of the HX so far! Can't wait to give this a crack with my real amp...I see the hype over this pedal now and can't wait till my name comes up. Great channel, thanks Jason.
Superb insight again Jason, thanks
Thank you so much Alan :-)
I have an HX Stomp. Its was used for pretty much just recording. I decided to buy Native since its $99 for anyone with a unit. So now I can actually try all of these presets. And the work flow is way easier than reamping.
The Helix Native is great - just started using it myself 🤘
Yeah it is really a great tool to have :-) Enjoy!
LOVE IT Jason. Those are some tasty delicious tones there for sure. amazing. now I really want a Helix!!! great stuff.
Thanks so much Stephen :-)
Love this video.. Needed this!!
Thanks so much Sheldon :-)
Playing so tasty submarine crews will be asking for the bends. NICE!
Lol! Thanks so much :-)
I’m really loving the Dhyana drive and can’t wait to dig into it more now that I have a better understanding of what everything does, that as always Jason...PS like the beard :-)
Thanks so much all around Rob :-)
Fantastic
excelent video
I like the Zendrive alot - its the gain pedal i couldn't sell to get the cash together to buy by Helix :) - the only thin missing from the model is an 18V setting for it (headroom increase !). I like the idea of putting the voice pot onto the EXP pedal (with a small mod to the tone ) to get a fat & gain at either end of the Exp pedal's sweep. Great video. Very cool tones :)
Thanks so much and glad you enjoyed :-)
Excellent demo and playing! One thing I would like to hear is what they sound like without the delay on, it distracts a bit from focusing on the overdrive tone.
I really liked the tone of the overdrive clipping mode with the higher gain mod engaged.
I put the Dhayana drive into your Cali Texas patch - Try it in front of ch 2, it's awesome - ENDLESS sustain. Go and have a bite, it'll still be ringing...
Nice :-)
Thanks again, Jason. Have you considered using Band in a Box 2019 to create instant backing tracks to give us some context when you are riffing around? I think it would be perfect for your application because it would allow you to avoid copyright restrictions and yet provide a context for the tones you are helping us achieve. Sometimes I feel like the noodling is hard for me to get into, even though I know it is just for demo purposes, because it is hard for me to focus on due to the lack of any sort of context.
I have the $99 version and love it for really fast backing tracks when I get asked to play at church last minute and don't have a chance to create my own backing track.
Anyway, just a thought. Keep up the good work!
Thanks and my pleasure :-) That would be an option but would likely make my turn around time on these videos longer unfrotunately.
I'd like to see a short video of a single preset with the KOT or Zen Drive, but with different guitars. I own various types and was just wondering how a Strat or Tele, even a Les Paul, would sound.
That is definitely a possibility Brandon, thanks!
you're facial expression says enough, great video.
Haha, thank you so much Marcel :-)
Jason what's the best way to manage volume between switching patches I do own a mission pedal but for some reason I'm having a hard time getting it to respond when I assign it to EXP3
I have a couple videos about level balancing if you check my channel :-)
Diggin the beard.
Thank you :-)
Hello Jason. Which cab and micro do you use? Thanks
I believe I just used the Grammatico preset that I put up on CustomTone!
Love this works so well with early cream Playing along with My blues channel luvin it
Awesome and glad you enjoyed :-)
At about 3:30 I was ready to buy another stomp. Sounds great!!
