I've never seen an adult psy ward that allows patients to have their cell phone, and this is coming from someone who has had half a dozen admissions of a month or longer... in addition to all my admissions that didn't hit a full month. A lot of the things mentioned about the adult psy unit in this video I feel are more a case by case basis for each hospital. IE - I've had one hospital that not only has good food, but the physical therapy activities include access to a pool table with actual billiard balls and cue sticks.
It would suck a whole lot less if they let you have your headphones and your phone. They claim it's for patient privacy which is stupid. Just have an app that patients download that stops video recording. I've seen tons of fights about people not being able to have their phones on the adult ward. We're grown ups who pay for our phone bills. We're entitled to have it. Even some prisons and jails have tablets for prisoners and jail people.
I found with me that as an adult you get a lot more freedom vs the child/adolescent side. The environment on the adult side is way different than the child/adolescent. A lot more people have complex mental health problems that you just don't see much of on the adolescent side like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, severe depression versus on the child/adolescent a lot of the kids had depression, anger issues, anxiety disorder, mood or personality disorders. A lot of the behaviors were a bit more bizarre or erratic when it comes to behavior resulting in the use of restraint/seclusion versus an out burst on the child/adolescent side would be a tempertantrum of sorts. Also on the adult side they use a restraint chair and give you meds through your arm vs the child side is 4 point restraint and a shot 💉 in your butt.
I love this video. Recently became 18 after having gone to a child ward, and pretty curious to see if the rumors about the adult ward are true. Great video, 20/10
hey from across the pond eastern europe and im ngl i find it wild how different adolescent psychs and adult are since i was there at about to turn adult after that and honestly the child side it was one of the worst experiences basically lied straight to my face jack shit happened actual psychological wise so it was just a schizoprenic sitting in a dark corner for a long time with noone even close to your age
and whrre in the world you are- im canadian and even just innthe city i live in alone lettle own evennin the city over, or two cities over- so much more different
Maybe you learn to be a good boy or girl I got sent to them four times and I got sent to a long-term for 2 years and I learned my lesson I'm a good boy now and I'm 16 autistic so please be a good little boy
i mean in my area we have down time, which it jappens for an hour at shift change mid day, and then another one after dinner for just hakf an hour so that the nurses and just try and catch up on charts n stuff edit: OMFG THE AMOUNT OF GROUPS IVE HAD TO DO IN MY LIFE FROM WARDS HONESTLY WAS WAYYYY TOOO STRESSFUL EVENTUALLY 😭😭😭 like bro, some days we woild have literally 15 to 20 groups ish, its so much- also ive been in even a security 2:1, even once a 3:1 with seceurity and it was never that invasive- unkess its ED treatment, then its been 1:1 with a nurse and no bathrooms after eatijg for 1.5 hours, for the rules ive personally had, showers i would gt checked in on every five mins, but theyd just knock in the door, stuff like that.... so yk- but eve4yones case is diff double edit: on the units ive been on incld. once or twice in my lofe court ordered admits, ive almost never been on constamt watch,,, also whrre ive been you grt vitals atleast once evrry day, usually just in the morning with morning meds, and you get weighed every week to bi weekly again just for meds edit idek anymore: honestly about the sick enough thing, its either youre not sick enough or youre too sick for them so yk-
Depends on what you want, main points I’d say is adult you have more freedom, adolescent has more things to do. From my experience anyways. All hospitals are different but that would be my main deciding point between the two.

9:33 me and my friend were venting about booty juice and just the fact that everyone calls it that is so hilarious to me 😂😂
HAHAHA this is so funny because the video that’s going up later today is about booty juice lol
I was on LS (low stimuli) no people, no tv, finally after 3 days I could get a dr Phil book and could leave my room for med time and meals. So BORING
Thanks for your story.
Hey barret one question but are you allowed to have your phone at any adult psych ward in the usa
I was in a hospital called the Rockford center, it was hell and I almost died
No one got to use their phone on either side. On the adult side they would allow you to use the landline whenever
There was no ICR on the adult side but they brought the ativan and haldol super fast
I've been in the adult psych 7 times, and we were never allowed to have our phone.
Sometimes the doctors just dont talk to you that day but the nurses can usually text them
Best wishes. Keep it up.
I’m 11 and I might get sent to a pysch ward. I don’t know for sure tho
me too

did you happen to be in the hospital for 6 months because of DCFS or CPS?? they kept me waiting there for placement.

I am planning to transfer from OR to adult or adolescent behavioral ward. Which will you recommend the adult or adolescent?
