      160hp is more than I NEED on a road bike but it's adequate for the track.
      180hp and good looks versus an extra £5000? I'll keep my MT10 with optional OEM screen and racks for luggage.
      Still a fan of the speed triple though, just can't justify the spend. With the extra 5k in your pocket, you can spend it on speeding tickets and solicitors.🤟👌

  • @karlosh9286
    @karlosh9286 3 года назад +5

    I've got one of last years Speed Triple RS's. I don't think either this or the last gen are ugly, both could be a bit prettier.
    I know they're naff for mass centralisation, I like my high level under seat exhaust pipes, but I could live with the new version. The ovalish lights look better on the old one, although the Angry Bird lights on the new one are okay. I do think Triumph should offer some more colours . i.e. just a plain metallic red would do it for me !!!!
    Most significantly I don't use the full 148 BHP I have so I'm unlikely to change. For road riding , I think the last gen one is still more than enough, and can still get a rider into a lot of trouble.
    I guess for track day boys, the new one is a significant upgrade.
    So I think my bank balance is safe :-D

    The asymmetric headlights (low beam on the left, high beam on the right) drive me nuts... Does anyone know if there's any way we could change the high beam bulb to a low beam bulb and have them both on when we switch on the low beams (albeit losing the possibility of ever having high beams)?

    • @wizrom3046

      In some countries it is illegal for cars and bikes to have non symmetrical headlights. So I guess Triumph will do what Ducati did and release a different headlights internals for those countries. It might be as easy as just buying the right headlights kit from Triumph, although not very cheap. 🙂

      I report my dealer this problem with quickshifter . Their answer was that i don't know how to USE quickshifter. They said that i have to press firmly gear lever 🤔.
      I had BMW S1000R and Agusta Brutale RR more than 20000 miles on clock with quickshifter before this Speed Triple RS so I think i know how bloody thing should work. Each time i hit neutral (usually between 3rd and 4th gear) gear selector or quickshifter slamed into next gear and eventually damage gear box. Gear box was repaired under warranty but i sold bike soon after... Hope new owner will be better expert with quickshifter 🤨🤨

And now from 3 to 4th too sometimes. Had 3 really bad ones as you described. My gearbox must be damaged too perhaps. So you got a whole new gearbox. Good luck with your new bike and drive safe.

    So is this a track bike or a road bike? Where it used to be a great street bike that you could also take to a track day, now it seems it is more compromised as a street bike and requires more effort to ride fast on track. Have they fallen into the trap of making a so called 'super naked' and in the process destroyed it's original ethos? What is the case for buying one??

    With a clean sheet, it’s disappointing to get 1160cc instead of a full 1200cc. In this segment of super nakeds, every little bit helps when the Italian V4s are both full 1200s and putting down 200+ hp.
