I've got around 1600km on my Speed 1200 and the gearbox and shifter seem to have gotten smoother the more I ride it. When brand new it indeed was sometimes a bit clunky quickshifting in city speeds but now it's super soft and smooth, the best shifter I've ever tried.

Triples are that sweet spot between V2’s and i4’s. Like a V4 but a little more character. Plus triples easier to work on vs v4. Great video

Excellent review Bob 👍🏻 You’re getting pretty good at this! 😁 You cover everything cleanly and precisely, without waffle! Having a track focused bike for sh1tty British roads does seem a terrible waste (unless you’re a masochist) but if it can be dialled down for a little comfort without sacrificing power it looks to be a winner! Thanks 👍🏻

One of the best reviews on the entire web as far as positives and a few negatives about the bike. Completely new dashboard is definitely needed ala multistrada, optional active suspension should be offered as a expensive option, no matter what market research said and opportunity is sadly missed for a front double\ single lights reimagining

I'm still riding the 2013 Speed Triple and it's still my favourite bike I've ever owned. The only thing that I don't like about this one is that it is extremely limited in its colour options. I don't want anything flashy though, I just have a thing for white motorcycles. That being said, it won't stop me from upgrading to the new 1200.

    • @sacredgeometry
      @sacredgeometry Год назад

I imagine white will come out soon. Maybe next year or the year after. Its normally one of the colours they end up making. Luckily the matte grey is always my favourite colour from them so I have already grabbed mine before they get rid of it.

I agree with everything said in the video (I have test ridden both the Speed Triple 1200 RS and the KTM) except the comments about the gear box “being pretty darn good”. The gearbox is really harsh to use on this new Speed and this, with or without the clutch. To the point of being a show stopper for me.

Too be fair 🇬🇧Triumph done an amazing job on a complete new design 1st time out don’t forget 🇦🇹KTM Super Duke 1290 R is on its 3rd Evolution + now a real Evo & the RR versions available, so for the 🇬🇧Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS (1st edition) not bad at all only wish you could manually tern off anti wheelie & traction control completely basically a massive update is needed electronically to the 🇬🇧Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS (2nd edition). Like now the 🇬🇧Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR new model has electronic suspension red paint is extra… 👍🏻

I agree with the display options for the readout. It seems like something Triumph could easily implement via a software update to at least give the addition of a different style of display. I'm thinking of the Tiger 900 on this one with its dual 90's 'Kenwood Stereo' Rev counter display which takes up so much real estate on the screen for very little benefit. Just a simple alteration to the display could mean a lot of people were far more likely to buy one. The rest of the bike looks _very_ nice indeed! Colourscheme doesn't bother me too much at all.

There is one essential thing that any new bike has to do, "FOR ME," and that is being able to switch to GP Shifting (one up, five down) mode. It cannot be done on this bike, as far as I know. Maybe an aftermarket solution will come out soon. For me, it's a deal-killer; all my motorcycles use GP Shifting. If anyone knows of a solution now, please let us know. I'm ready to buy a bike now! If it cannot be done, I'm getting the KTM SDR.

Just came from Americade in the US where I was able to demo this bike back to back with a KTM 1290 SuperDuke R and I have to say the Triumph crushed it🤘🏻. It sounds better, handles better, and has better fit and finish than the KTM. IMO: Triumph spanks the KTM hands down.

The RR looks SOOO much better with that sexy cafe fairing, but i want the more relaxed riding position of the RS...wish there was a way to have my cake and eat it too... also Triumph needs to put that fairing on a street triple model as well...that would be a great looking bike.

It's not like KTMs where they can be ugly but somehow... _deserved_? Somehow they earned that alien look.
What's wrong with two round lights? It'll look great now and, if you plan on keeping it till it dies, it will age better as well. I swear that front end will age badly (like the late-2000s early-2010s headlights; see CB650F).

So, why is Triumph's Speed Triple 1200 RS NOT spoken of in hushed tones, quiet in an effort to keep it from getting aggressive, w/ highly considered superlatives. It's treated like a full sized commuter, rather than a super naked full sized monster. KTM Super Duke 1290 R, BMW 1300 GS, Aprilia RSV4, 1100 Factory...
It's weird. It's capable, or paper it's a match, but at $15,000.00, it's too cheap for a super naked? I just don't get it.

I might have to avoid test riding this for as long as possible, to avoid more financial silliness.

Often a shaking front end can be sorted with suspesion setup. If it shakes it's head when being hard on the gas off a corner, check the suspension setup in terms of sag as it could be that the rear shock colapses under power which will make the front light and shake it's head.

I'm just 21 (yes i think that's young), and I've ridden R1,CBR1000RRR-SP, ZH2, Ducati Panigale V4, Daytona 675r, R6, Ninja ZX 10, ninja Zx6, Ninja 300, RE 350,Himalayan,650s, t100, and speed triple, i had owned a R1, but sold it for other reasons and investments, and got a cycle instead of the bike, and now i am looking forward to getting a Trident 660 , or the Triumph Speed triple, cuz even after riding all i have ridden, ( even been to track a few times) is that no matter what, 200hp is not needed , and all these bikes are great, these 200hp r1s , Panigales, e.t.c, are pretty useless from ergonomics, useless low end, in the street what i suggest is the street triple, or the speed triple .
    Cuz :
Such a beautiful sound , the exhaust sound changes as the rev increases , from sophisticated in the low to the roaring in the high ,
Mechanically (a mechanical engineer here) , and as a bike enthusiast, 3 Cyls are the best when it comes to power delivery, low end torque + top end rush , and due to triumphs T-plane crankshaft (perfect secondary balance) this thing revs very high for a engine that size , and reaches redline quicker than any I4...
I've plenty experience, owned an R1 (sold last year and got a cycle), r6, zx 10r, the busa, Zh2, RSV4, panigale, cbr 1000, and z900 , daytona 675, street triple 675RS, RE bikes, and what not , but i find three cyls the best among inline 4s and 2s (Vs are better ). (Except some radicals i4s ).
