- I have wanted to build my own engine for a long time, I have helped with some, but never the ground floor on up for my own vehicle. What better way to start than a LS swap to the most America engine I have ever heard... The GM LS7 small block!
Today we pick up the bare block, assemble my first engine stand and get the engine prepped for the onslaught of parts coming its way. I also discuss what the overall plans are.

Who can down vote a LS7 video? Must be Non-American.
GO HOLLY EFI! GO HOLLY EFI! They make amazing auto tuning carbs and on top of that, it autotunes!
Terminator X??? ;)
Sadly due to age I have not had any experience with carburetors BUT fuel injection from everything I was ever told is the only way to go. Which may be the 2 down votes due to people not liking carburetors.
@@CamaroThings carb setup is simplest it can get. But you won't get the max out of it. Fine tuning and such. Different from efi where a guy can reflash the CPU and see EVERYTHING that's happening with the engine. But than again. There's a million sensors and relays for that.
@Lethel Garage off topic but I gotta tell you,in particular about this.Stangmode sources have told him the Ford gt is getting a 7.3tt next year.gane.over.mic.droped.
Money DOES buy Happiness!
Congrats Matt !
Congrats on the new LS7 motor purchase! This motor is a beast. It absolutely rips in the 5th gen Z28! I look forward to seeing your progress all along the way with this project. I'm super stoked!
Yessss!! Can’t wait for this journey bro!! I’ll be tapping in every single video! Been waiting for this series on this channel for a long time. Stoked for you and it to happen 👌🏼👍🏼
I’m pumped for the Lethal LS7 and Lethal 2nd Gen.
Yeah I need me a engine stand
I love the direction this channel is going.! Keep up the great content
My Dream Motor! Cant wait matt! Great choice.
That’s awesome Matt!! Congratulations with your new motor 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm hyped!! Cant wait for the assembly videos!!
Definitely looking forward to this.
I can’t wait man, this is gonna be amazing.
Love your channel I’m super anxious to see the LS7 being built along with the 2nd Gen. great choice.
Awesome, looking forward to the build. Congrats!
Awesome. Can’t wait to see this car being built. Great choice in cars. I have a 1st gen Camaro 67 RS/SS and a 2017 Camaro SS 1LE.
Definitely go with the carburetor set up! Looking forward to this build!
Build series is really satisfying to watch.
Way better than dropping the car off somewhere and be like “well the car is done let’s go pick it up “” type of RUclipsrs
Yeah, my goal has always been do it myself. Early on I didn’t feel confident, now I am ready
Damn Dude!!! Respect level just PEAKED! I love the way you are going with this build!!! Major respect from me who builds motors all the time, You are going in the right direction of what you need to do to deserve respect of a car builder!
Thanks man. I am trying
Ford gt 7.3tt.mic dropped.
Great Buy for a Chevy Engine Love It! Can't wait to see more video's.
sweet build love that LS7
This is my first video and i subscribed. I hope to see this build through.
Coming from a dude who has an LS7, I suggest getting Race Proven Motorsports heads/cam package along with 2” American racing headers and catless xpipe.
This package consistently puts down 600-650whp on a c6z. RPM has a RUclips channel if you wanna check out their work in action.
We have the cam spec’ed out and know it will push 650
LethalGarage : perfecto. Can’t wait to see it.
I love it video bro and nice engine
Yeah!!!
Sweet I'm doing all most the same thing. Ls7 in a 79z
Not true Matt, I've built many motors in my time, big blocks, small blocks, buy the time you add in your time and effort, plus parts, lube, gaskets and pulleys...etc....etc...and shipping for the parts, it's cheaper to order one tailored to your specs.and you get a warranty, when something goes wrong with your built motor it comes out of your wallet. If you enjoy the build I understand, been there many many times.im 55 and owned and built 9 Camaros in my time from pro street to stock with correct numbers. But your vids are super cool and informative, rock on brother.....
LS7 powaaaaaa
Put a big heart. Camaro
Detroit speed and engineering makes some nice suspension stuff for the early camaros
That is what I am looking at.
de stroked LS7.388 cubes,8500 rpm redline,around 650 horses,manual transmission
We will push her to 8k for sure
where can i get a ls7 bare block
ah my heart breaks hearing it'll be carb'd, we have slowly transitioned all of our carb'd hot rods to efi, so much better! looking forward to the build.
We're looking at the new Terminator X setup if that eases your mind at all.
Should put that LS7 in the fifth gen z28
a 5th gen z/28 already comes with a LS7....
What is u doing to the LS7
Imma throw this inna 3rd gen firebird
A DSE Quadralink with a set of mini tubs would be nice.
No plans to tub her.
Lethal garage what kind piston u going to u
Lethal garage I'm Marco Jordan I have a 5.3 LS what kind of camshaft do I need please tell me
@@marcojordan1368 Running stock GM pistons and rods. Being NA, not much need to go beyond that.
@@marcojordan1368 You can put just about any type of Cam shaft for a 5.3 in the block. You should have a performance shop spec one for your needs.
Where would you like to see the 7th gen Camaro with its design?
What block is better the lsx or the ls7
Depends what your doing. Most will run the LSX
Wear did you get the block from? I may have to replace mine and I'd rather buy a bare block than a Short block.
My GM dealership
What color are you painting the camaro Matt? I think white 🤔
Unknown.
hey buddy please post the steps on how you built that engine so I could learn from the Master and put it on my Car
The goal is to create a series showing every aspect
Don't know shit about cars, but this seems way too interesting to miss; you just earned a sub.
You should think about getting a mic for your camera. That way your volume doesn't increase by 100% every time you face the camera towards yourself. Just a suggestion. I enjoy your videos; keep up the good work!
I had a new mic during this video, found out after shooting, it was messed up. it is now fixed.
How much did it cost...for just the block?
I think $3kish
How much hp u goin with
Should be about 600-625rwhp
How much is the block ?
$3,200ish
You put a motor on an engine stand?
Purchase the block, built the stand, than mounted it. Yup!
Can the ls7 fit in a 3rd gen?
Yep
@@MAJORMAN299 thanks
Are you building strictly for content, or is it cheaper than buying an assembled engine?
I am able to build it cheaper than buying already built.
@@Lethalgarage thanks for the reply, I have 2 projects that I need to get going on and I look forward to learning from your build. I think an engine begging to be installed would be great motivation to finish at least one of my builds.
@@6eightss I hope to be helpful.

Hmmm no cold start to start the video
Oh it was cold :)
Stroker l s 7 man come on do it
lol :)
Ya know I really wish ya would’ve kept the big block seeing as this is mainly going to be a cruiser but oh well I’ll just give ya my address and you can ship it to me 😉
Put a big heart camaro in LS7
What kind of transmission
Lethal garage how much horsepower u going to have on the LS7
Marco Jordan what?
What kind of suspension u going to u I think bmr
You do know you can buy a fully built motor to your specs, with a warranty.
A stock motor that is 4x the cost.
Let's get them mic issues fixed lol.
New mic, already fixed. Found the issue after the video was shot.
@@Lethalgarage hell yeah. I love the channel man. I have a 6th gen Camaro as well and my pops has a 2nd gen Pro Street Camaro with a 396. So this channel just got even better for me 😎 Can't wait till your 2nd gen is complete.
So why not buy a ls7 short block
Because I had access to parts for cheaper.
@@Lethalgarage awesome makes sense
Also allows me to show building every aspect of the engine.
Ya I like that. Can't wait
Open toed shoes, not a good idea. Don't want to see you get hurt or a toe cut off.
Working on engines in flip flops is no bueno
Only if you like to drop tools or use crap hardware
Seriously, flip flops? Do you know how much some of these things weigh, you need appropriate foot where when dealing with this stuff!
Lol. It's very appropriate for me.
Too late about your foot wear. Sorry.
Carburated ??????? Why would you do that????? NOOOOOOO.....
Probably will end up doing EFI
Lost me at carburetor
