If my thinking is correct on this, the basic mathematical principle that's happening is ancient! The old one we all know, where you deal a row of face up cards, and count from each value until you get to 13, then the participant chooses 3 piles, and the the top cards added sum matches the amount of cards they're left holding...I think you know what I'm talking about lol. Anyway, it was originally introduced in Scarne on Card Tricks under the title Mathematical Finder. However, brilliant minds like Lloyd, Steve Beam, Roberto Giobbi, etc..have taken the concept and turned it into real workers!

Great effect, fooled me the first time through, solved it the second time, I love the illusion of choice for the spectator that has no bearing on the outcome, they're essentially just counting down cards that's going to be placed on top of the chosen card.

First time I was fooled badly, on the second watch was kicking myself I didn’t figure it out the first time! Such a simple principle but totally fooling to a lay person and your touch of changing the card really ramps up the impossibility. Great stuff, that one will be going into my repertoire!

Just trying to recreate what happened here in this specific case, even though I'm probably way off. The force card needs to be the 28th card from the top before pulling off the two 13 card piles.
    1. Spotted the force card.
    2. Broke the deck above the force card and placed the force card pile on top. The force card is now the top of the deck.
    3. Squared up the cards.
    4. Broke the cards again as close to the middle as possible, with the force card topped pile still on top.
    5. Used a faro to compare how many cards off the top pile (force card pile) is from the bottom pile. Lloyd is 2 cards too high on his force pile deck (27 in the force pile, 25 in the other pile).
    6. Didn't complete the faro, instead pulled apart both piles and placed the bottom pile on top of the force card pile. The force card is now 26 from the top.
    8. Peeled off two cards from the bottom to the top putting the force card at the 28th position from the top.

@@travisgomillion6357you are actually correct - and thanks for your breakdown. He has to have the card at position 28. I wondered how he achieved that, but it's the faro that's the key. I'm only a beginner and that's beyond me, but I get the person to shuffle the entire deck, then I get them to select the first 26 cards. We both shuffle our decks but I swap the bottom force card to second from the top. Then I get them to make two stacks of 13 from their 26 and proceed as in the video. It's a lot simpler and in some ways better as it works every time for a beginner - plus I don't pre-select the card. When I display the pack after their initial shuffle I look at the card at the bottom and then remember and select that as my card from the second (red) pack at the end, which is actually more impactful than something selected before the trick is even started (which suggests to the audience that the entire thing is a con as it's obviously pre-determined). It also means I can change the force card right up until the moment I put my stack down and can crib if I screw up and lose the original force card in my shuffling 😊

Some thoughts on a classic. I do the trick differently which uses 2 spectators:
    1) Hand 26 cards to each spectator and get them both to shuffle their cards.
    2) Have a card selected from one half then "lost".
    3) Have the other spectator deal two piles the same way Lloyd does to create a random number, the only difference being they start with one pile of 26 cards and make two piles stopping if the value matches.
    4) You then get spectator 2 to deal down to spectator 1's card.

@@wearenorthcolour I literally figured it out by watching the video so I'll explain right now. You ready?
Place your force card 28th from the top, and it all works out. Here's how. If they deal to a 10, that's 4 cards (K,Q,J,10), leaving the cards in their hand as 9. Let's say for the sake of simplicity, they do 10 for both piles, (it doesn't matter if they make it up, they still do the same thing just imagining instead), now you place the leftover cards (9 cards for each pile, so 18), leaving their card in the 20th position (10+10=20) EASY. So, basically the way I do it, is i have them shuffle, then spread through, and if the force card is in the bottom half, perfect, if not, cut it there. Now have them deal 2 piles of 13 (26), and then when they are done, spread the cards, and cut the force card second from the top. Now everything works out. Hopefully that makes sense

1:58 the Queen of spades is at the 26th position - next shuffle that appeared, well, you decide. Card was placed in the right spot way early in the trick.... and the cards from the two piles and that number, well, the proper number of cards added back on to the fuller deck. I'm not giving away everything here, but enough to say that all of the additional shuffles helped to really make this an effective trick. Great stuff!

All that is needed is to be certain that the queen of spades will finish, after the spectator's shuffle in 28th position.
The easiest way is to do it in two steps:
After spectator’s shuffling, you make a ribbon of face up cards on the table to show that all the cards are different. Or to ask the spectator if he is satisfied with his shuffling.
In fact, you are watching where is the Queen of spade
When you take the ribbon of cards back from the table, if needed you cut to have the queen of spade further than the centers (The best is just a little further than the center as 29th to 35th position). It’s only guessing.
The spectator deals 2 packets of 13 cards. At this time the queen of spades should be in the first cards of the bigger deck left on the table.
You ask him if he wants to swap some cards between the two 13 cards packet.
Then, you make with the bigger packet a ribbon of face up cards asking to the spectator if he wants to swap some cards…
Il fact, you are watching how far is the queen from de top.And you cut the deck to place it 2nd from the top.
Or you make a cull or something like that.
Shortly said you move some cards to have the queen in 2nd position of the top (so in 28ième position of all the cards). Or you move the Queen of spade (with a cull for exemple)
The rest is automatic but the presentation is verry very very good.
in fact I was blown away !!!
I knew the mathematical principle but had forgotten it. It was by looking at the comments that I remembered it.
And I had to look a few times to get an idea of how you position the cards. And I think that my explanation does not correspond 100% to your method.
The idea of using a red card placed on the mat before the trick is wonderful. as well as asking her if she wants to switch cards between decks, shuffle them, etc.
This makes for a professional grade ride
