The sad part of this story is that if Randy would have lived, Sharon Osbourne would have screwed him over, just like she did every other musician that played with Ozzy.
I think it was a different story with Zakk. He immediately started doing his own thing while in Ozzy - his Pride and Glory project. He pretty much had the freedom to do what he wanted outside of Ozzy, as long as it didn’t conflict.
ZWs plan from the very beginning in Ozzy was to establish himself as a solo artist. He totally took advantage of and exploited that opportunity. Very smart on his part.

Randy Rhoads has been my favorite musician since 81’ and I’m 55 , nice story I’d like to share about Kathy , my wife at the time ordered me two bottles of Randy Rhoads wine from Kathy and her husband’s winery and it was supposed arrive a day before thanksgiving and it didn’t so my wife called the winery and actually talked to Kathy personally and said she was super nice and she overnighted me the two bottles of wine it went great with the thanksgiving dinner ! I'm 63, so I've seen and listened to so many great guitarists,but Randy was Mick Ronson on speed...he could make a ten second guitar solo sound like a full song, his space between notes was exceptional...long live RR.

Some of the negative comments regarding Rhoads on here kill me. Let’s be clear: Rhoads, Daisley & Kerslake were Blizzard of Ozz. Without them, that album never gets made. Fuck the Osbournes.

Nice! I saw quiet riot at India point park in providence…it was a free concert as well when they first got popular in the early 80s…2 kids at the concert climbed a 100 ft plus tower and were flippin off the crowd … next minute one fell to his death in like 2 feet of water…will never forget that day or the day Randy died as I never got to see him… mom wouldn’t let me see Ozzy on the Blizzard tour.. she said I was too young at the time
Thank you for doing a better job at keeping Randy's legacy and memory alive way more than the Osbourne family ever has!! The only other thing I wish you would have asked them about is why 42 years after his passing is there still no clear concert footage of Randy playing at his best with ozz. There's plenty with Quiet Riot yet they still say there's nothing filmed with Randy during the Blizzard and Diary tours which is total BS!! Where's the Day on the green footage? They filmed every band that played there. As did the Capitol theater in Jersey which Randy wrote about in a postcard to his girlfriend Lori that's not hard to find and where he says he's excited that they're gonna be filmed. Besides that there's definitely other shows that were filmed. Anyone who believes they first started filming when Brad joined the Diary tour has a few screws loose. They had every arena sold out. Loads of money coming in. A 250k stage set/ show traveling from city to city.. Yet they have no footage? Please do an interview with Tommy and ask about this. He's mentioned shows that were filmed. I like Rudy but either he's in denial or just doesn't remember the truth about any shows that were filmed. He's definitely done the most at Keeping Randy's legacy alive so I give him props for that. But I really don't understand how he can claim there's no concert footage. I wish you would have asked Kathy and Kelle about all this but I appreciate you doing anything on Randy. Please consider talking with Tommy about it and maybe have Kelle and Kathy back on to see what they say. I know Kelle wanted to see the Holy Grail that Bob has released. But unfortunately Sharon owns the vast majority of everything Randy did for ozz. She offered him peanuts for the tapes and we'll likely never hear them unless Bob does a massive dump of the recordings onto RUclips at some point and that way every Randy fan would be able to download the Holy Grail that he has. I'm really praying he does it at some point when it won't matter how much they sue him for. Thanks again for all you do.
My friend, there's no footage, and no conspiracy, so just stop. What reason would Sharon, who's totally money hungry, have for not releasing it? As far as the "Day On The Green" footage, that would be owned by Bill Graham's estate IF it exists, so a deal would have to be done to either lease or buy the rights to it. Do you REALLY think that after 42 years since his death, if there was any footage, it wouldn't have been leaked by now? Come on. Stop. Sharon doesn't control the universe. You need to get that out of your head. There's no decent footage of Van Halen in the late 70's and early 80's either, besides the promo clip shot in Oakland in '81. The Largo footage from '82? Bad quality. The recently released footage from Fresno? About as good as the Palladium footage of Randy. The '84 Donington footage? Shot from one side of the stage. Just stop

It wouldn't be that difficult to come to an agreement with the Bill Graham estate to release the footage. Yeah she's money hungry AF.. But to think that's the reason why she wouldn't wanna "cash in" on a show with Randy is just ridiculous. The palladium footage was bought for just $600 from the guy who shot it. And there was no mention of him anywhere thanking him for it. Same way there's no mention of any of the musicians who gave ozz a second career. Besides Bob eventually given some credits. And the very occasional mention of Randy over the years from ozz. Also, when Bob proposed the idea for Sharon to purchase the Holy Grail she wanted it but offered him peanuts due to her hatred of him and greed. But than recently on their whacked out show they made it sound like the recordings Bob has sounded like crap and weren't worth anything. Which is BS. And than there's all the rest of the lies and deceit they've pulled over the years. Believe what you want. I know plenty of people who think and know otherwise. Including former students of Randy.
I think the Rhoads family could do more, but luckily Kathy is on instagram and does help, and they did turn the Musonia into a shrine essentially.
They will not talk about that or give a candid answer. Osbournes sit on video and soundboard recordings, Bob has the holy grail tapes.

This interview is about things Randy wasn't happy about. It's not about what made Ozzys band successful. Why would he mention Bob Daisly?
Umm Bob never played guitar, that music came from Randy, riffs, chords, solos all Randy. Bob came up with lyrics and helped guide Randy as far as tying everything together but the music was and always will be Randy Rhoads.
Never met Randy but, he will always be my favorite guitarist. From the moment I heard the first notes of Crazy Train, I’ve never wavered in my support of Randy. RIP Randy. Can’t wait until I meet you in heaven.

I saw Quiet Riot play free at the Auburn Indiana Fair last September in front of a crowd of about 50-75 people. It was sad and awesome at the same time.
Imo Randy needed to get to work with someone like Bob Daisley to reach his full potential.
I always said the exact same thing. Just look at the difference in Randy’s compositions between QR and Ozzy. Playing/writing with Daisley and Kerslake helped make Randy the legend he is today. From what I read, Ozzy did little to nothing for the writing.

@@vistalite All ozz did was hum melodies. That was the extent of all his contributions to the music and lyrics written for him. And he didn't even do that for all the songs. There's video out here of Lee Kerslake singing the guide vocals of what became Flying high again. And he did the same for other songs on Diary.
@@mbass718 I wish I had seen the original band live. Those two records they recorded are incredible. I at least got to see the Randy, Rudy, Aldridge line-up for the Diary tour.
@@vistalite You're very lucky you got to see Randy on the Diary tour. He died just a few weeks before I was set to see him at MSG. Seeing the original band would have been amazing and as good as Tommy and Rudy are... They weren't at the same level as Bob and Lee. As well as Tommy didn't play the drum parts all that close to how Lee played them. But I will say that in some ways you were better off in seeing the Diary tour cause although Randy always sounds incredible on any recording you hear from the those tours.. His Gtr shines through on even the worst recordings! But if you listen to any of the shows in the last few months of his life his playing was absolutely at a whole other level of mastery. That's not taking away anything from the Blizzard band. But his whole sound and technical ability really ramped up in those last few months.

Used to hold candlelight vigils for Randy in my room every March 19th. First death I actually shed tears for, and that was 1988... years after. Randy was life, and studying his music probably saved my life, due to typical family issues. I'm just happy Ozzy is still with us, if we can't have both.
no one mentions Bob Dailsy who was mature ad experienced and not blocked out of hi head on drugs. I bet he had an incredible influence on Randys playing and life,.

Not only musically, their personalities are & were completely different. Randy might have been a little immature at times, but Kelle's personality is plain goofy. Kelle won't STFU & talks just to hear himself talk. He's always seeking people's attention anyway he can no matter what comes out of his mouth to get it. You can still hear how bitter & envious Kelle is about Randy even now after his passing. He's definitely riding Randy's coattails anyway he can try to get his own 15 minutes of fame in the spotlight for sure. It's really quite obvious if you go back & listen to Kelle talk about his younger brother Randy in a lot of those interviews. I believe the “tie my shoes” song he’s referring to is Teenage Anthem aka Set Me Free. It went on to be used of course in Goodbye to Romance, as well as Winners Take All on Quiet Riots Condition Critical.

Yeah I know , those first two albums are absolute masterpieces. My favorite is Diary by a hair though , it was a little more refined and every song is great. I have a lot of those songs on my playlist and still listen to them , they still hold up to this day. Same with a lot of Sabbath songs....

Awesome. My favorite guitarist. I was 15 when I first heard flying high again on a compilation album. I grew up on Kiss, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Zeppelin but some how missed out on Sabbath and Ozzy. This was after the crash. I was blown away like no other guitarist…

When you first hear the story of Blizzard of Oz becoming simply "Ozzy Osbourne", it is a bit sad, like a legitimate band has been relegated to being a backing group. But using Ozzy's name recognition as currency was the right thing to do at that point. And anyone hearing that record would know that Randy was NO friggin backing group! And I'll say that about Bob Daisley's lyrics as well. Bob had the ability to articulate Ozzy's perspective in ways that the singer never could have. And Randy might've been the only person on earth that could've held a candle to Tony Iommi as far as bringing the gothic heavy rock to Ozzy's vocals. Honestly, it's a miracle that Ozzy found a guitarist and a lyricist that rivaled the talent he had just left behind in Black Sabbath.
The solo on you looking at me looking at you is a great show case of Randy’s of musical knowledge.
I will say I loved hearing Quiet Riot the Randy Rhoads years album when it was released. For one I think it sounded better than the original albums and me being a huge RR fan and him being the biggest guitarist influence of mine I was so happy to finally hear his early music with them. Also his early work showed his progression from QR to Oz and how far he had come as a guitarist and composer. Not to mention, the live version of his solo with laughing gas was AMAZING! RR RIP and thank you for your amazing talent and the music you left with us. You will never be forgotten!❤❤🎸🎸🤘

For those who don't know, Dana Strum is the guy in Wayne's World who tells Wayne about the "No Stairway to Heaven" rule.
According to Dana's wiki page, he's quoted as saying in Circus magazine that although the guy looks like him, it isn't-- at the time of the WW filming he was in the studio recording with Slaughter.
IMDb says it was a guy named Eric Crabb that played the music store clerk.

As a MOSTLY lifetime fan of Randy's (just turned 50 😬) , and also a past model builder (cars not trains but... SAME kinda foundation)...I REALLY liked hearing about Randy and his trains!.... NEVER knew that...ROCK the funk ON 😎🤘🔥🤘
Rod Stewart too is a huge train and modeller buff. He builds all his layouts from scratch. Takes up an entire floor in his mansion. Amazing stuff 😁👍
I’ve been a watcher of your videos for a longtime! What I really enjoy about it is! It’s kinda old school vibe ! Interviews over the phone! Like back in the day listening to your fav. Radio station and they would do a interview with a group or a member of the band calling in like promoting a upcoming show in that town ! Or the band coming in to the radio station and doing a live interview! I really miss that about radio and classic bands from the 70’s and 80’s ! I’m still loyal to radio and listen to the classic rock station in my town for practically 50 years ! WQUT ! 🤘 Full in bloom Rock on👍

There are recordings of the original band playing live. When you hear Bob and Lee, that’s the magic sound.
💯% truth right there buddy. Replacement musicians never really play with the same energy or passion as the original recording band members that made the original great recordings.
Even worse, when Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake were suing Ozzy for performance royalties, the Ozzy camp decided to rerecord the bass and drums with different players on the two albums with Randy.
That was such a disaster both musically and with the fans, that the Ozzy camp had to reissue the album with Bob and Lee on the tracks.
The fact that the Osbournes did that to me, was an admission of guilt, and they needed to start paying Bob and Lee what they owed them.
The whole thing just smacks of how vicious and petty people can be in the music industry.

Please interview Tommy Aldridge. Do your research and prepare the questions, he’s very approachable and available. Ask him the whereabouts of his old tour kits and then ease into the RR questions. He has a mind like a steel trap because he took his opportunity as a blessing and didn’t squander it on booze and drugs. As usual, love what you do for us aging fans to keep the stoke alive for what turned out to be the greatest era of music.
That's funny, I was just watching Tommy interviews a couple of days ago, and I was thinking the same thing. Such an amazing drummer....and great guy.

I knew about QR before I heard of Randy or knew he was in the band. I was familiar with Ozzy but hadn't really discovered music yet. I was 9 when Metal Health was released. I bought it with my birthday money because of Come on feel the Noise and I went from there.

I think he found out just how crazy touring with Ozzy was turning out to be, from what I've read it sounded as if he has enough and wanted out, but he had to fulfill his contract obligation to Ozzy and he knew his pride possession was wanting out, that's when Ozzy hit Randy during one of his drunken outbursts but then shortly after then accident happened.
Totally on point!! It still hurts to this day that Randy died just a few weeks before I was gonna see him tear the roof off of MSG. Also to this day that was the absolute saddest and one of the worst concerts I've ever seen. I wish I never went. It took quite awhile to get over that way back then. The only thing that helped get over it was being at the Speak of the devil nighttime show at the Old Ritz here in NY. That was amazing.. But primarily due to how incredible Brad Gillis played. As well as the setlist being a dream Sabbath setlist.
Randy was contracted to do one more album and then he was gonna leave. I can only imagine how incredible the 3rd album would have been. Such a shame he didn't get to do it. And just as much a shame is the fact that there's clear concert footage of Randy with Ozz that we'll likely never see. Along with the Holy Grail that Bob Daisley has of him and Randy on tape writing all the songs that were on Blizzard.. And than all the Diary stuff with Lee who contributed plenty to the writing of Diary. Along with some concert recordings. It's a little hard to understand why Kathy says nice things about Sharon and ozz when he's done almost nothing to keeping Randy's legacy and memory alive. They wouldn't allow Andre Relis to use any of the music Randy wrote and played for ozz to be used in the Doc.. Randy Rhoads Reflections of a Gtr icon. It's total BS that there's no concert footage with Randy. Day on the green filmed every band that ever played there yet ozzys set is missing? The Capitol theater in Jersey also filmed every band and Randy wrote about it to his girlfriend in a postcard that's not hard to find.. With him saying how excited he was that they were gonna be filming. Besides those two shows there's absolutely more and anyone who says differently is full of Sh*t!! Definitely correct. I have a Guitar World issue on Randy from the late 90s and Ozzy himself comments on a night some psychopath brought a severed goat head backstage after a show. Randy apparently said “Fuck this” and went to the bus. The “scene” wasn’t his thing.

Back in mid eighties our lead singers girlfriend brought the first quiet riot album (killer girls?) It’s either first or 2nd record from Japan. Her older ‘sister’ bought the record after seeing quite riot at whisky go go Los Angeles. She said it was ‘matinee’ in afternoon they played for kids I figured? I used to work for Randy Rhoads best friend name was ‘Kim’ he was old hippy guy older than Randy. Kim, showed me pile of Polaroids of pictures with Randy starting from 73, 74 . I met Kim at ‘starving students’ moving company. Kim was manager at starving stoners. Those pictures of him and Randy I’ll never forget, The LA rock scene was GODDY like, Hair down waist dressed up decked out looked way cooler than eighties. I played in bands all through the eighties that was best time in my life. I’ll never forget, Non stop party even then. Girls non stop. They would move in cook and clean house. Everyday. Back then we looked like Gods. Whitelace. Whenever we walked through shopping mall you heard girls even their mothers ‘OH MY GAWD! A woman’s Jaw drops you walk pass, attractive woman. Like watching embarrassing high school movie slow motion

I just want to say about Randy’s friend ‘Kim’. Kim told me that Randy’s sister also played classical guitar. He said to hear Randy play classical guitar with his sister was a trip. From Kim, i always thought Randy’s sister shredded nylon classical.

They're definitely making a movie about Randy. I mean by now if he'd lived, he'd be right up there with Eddie. The guy could seriously shred. And this nostalgia with the 80s? Oh yeah they are definitely making a movie about Randy. And he deserves it. I've heard from so many ppl that Randy's personality was as excellent as his guitar playing.
Oh please. I love both but evh is on another level. Randy was more measured and that's fantastic. Who know what he may have done. Evh is once in a lifetime. He literally invented techniques, equipment,etc. Only comparison is if les paul and hendrix had a baby. That evh
they wont get it right , the satanism on tour , the deal he had to sign with the ardens , the punch when deciding to lead a band mutiny , the one night stand with sharon and ultimately the cocaine fuled bus driver being forced/posessed to murder suicide as an insurance policy to make sure these secrets would never reach the outside world .
I share a bday with Randy dec 06 1956 for Randy and dec 06 1976. 20 years apart and I will say this that if not 4 Randy I damn sure wouldn't have started playing the guitar I was always n2 music but when a friend let me borrow the 87 tribute tape I was hooked and I studied everything I could find 2 do with Randy and it's been 30 years now but I'm still blown away but his short but very relative musical life even though he didn't write this song my favorite off the tribute tape is children of the grave I just love it

Only reason Quiet Riot broke huge when they did was thanks to Spencer Proffer plain and simple .. he was looking for a band to re-record "cum in feel the noise" and Kevin lucked out
That is very true. Looking back, it was a very tight, well-done Production. But, we can't TOTALLY discount Randy's impact/legacy, especially amongst Los Angeles fans that had an impact on sales. It's no coincidence that Kevin and Rudy made a point to say the album was dedicated to Randy Rhoads on the back.

Pedalboard: Ozzy actually called it a "frying pan" because the pedals made so much noise, hiss and sizzle when going through Randy's blazing Marshall stacks. Sure kept Max Norman busy when mixing and having to mute tracks. To make setups easier and more reliable on the road, Randy had a tech in London take all of his FX pedals, mount some of them in their stock-enclosures (pictured underside view @12:27) and install them in that custom-floorboard with the individual controls surface-mounted and replaced the bypass switches with some 3rd-party type. They almost look like what Roland was using at the time. That coupled with a one-size "doesn't fit all" power-supply probably is where the problems occurred. It looked awesome on paper but in use, all sorts of weird stuff happens when you try to Frankenstein these into something else. My friend bought every popular pedal out in the late 70's and rack-mouted them into a 20 space rack. Project took months. What a nightmare but it did look pretty cool. He should have spent the time learning stuff on the guitar instead. His band's songs sucked.

Man I'm amazed at how some people either didn't like Randy and down play his abilities but like myself were all entitled to own opinions u could b the very best guitarist n the world and if u don't have a bunch of guys behind u playing the band u will not make and Randy was the best of his generation but didn't want 2 do Ozzy anymore but he was great technically and Bob daisley Lee kerslake and Ozzy brought out the best in Randy and 2 all those with a negative comment about Randy all that shows is u have no idea of whatba great musician he was and don't have a clue of what greatness is period

"Symbiotic with Ozzy", they claim? But the main work on the songs and rehearsal was with Bob Daisley. This kind of narratives make them unconvincing in painting an accurate picture, even after all these years and more information being available to them.
So true!!!! If anything I'd say more Symbiotic on stage rather than during the writing and recording of Blizzard and Diary. I also find it strange how Kathy gives so much props to Sharon and ozz after knowing ozz punched Randy in the face when Randy told him he was out after the contract was up to do one more album. As well as the fact that the Osbourne family hasn't done shite when it comes to keeping Randy's legacy and memory alive. If they really cared about Randy they would have let Andre Relis use any of the recordings that Randy wrote and recorded for Oz in the film Randy Rhoads reflections of a Gtr icon. Instead that chapter of his life was given way less screen time than the Quiet Riot years.. They wouldn't contribute any new interviews either and the same goes for Randy's siblings. I think that was due to Sharon holding something over them and or the fact that she owns the majority of the rights to everything Randy did for ozz.
It doesn’t surprise me a bit that Randy didn’t really connect with his siblings early on and that’s because he was a true prodigy and prodigious individuals tend to stick to themselves for the most part and that’s why some mistake their reclusiveness as cocky and/or self absorbed.
Randy is top 5 guitarists of all time for me. It always makes me sad to not hear everything that was in his mind and his heart, but so thankful that we had him while we did. Great Interview!

I respect them for declining to comment on Don Arden, and his business practices. Because by all accounts, that man was a monster. And to a degree explains why Sharon is the way she is. At the same time, Sharon saved Ozzy's life. So one might not agree with all the things she's done, but it would have been sad to lose Ozzy so young. He was abused as a child. It's the reason why he is the way he is.
They kept their comments about all very polite, complimentary, and dealt with only how they were treated BY those individuals. Not by what they may have done to other people. And I, like many others, believe Ozzy had nothing but love for Randy. He probably got worse with his addictions after Randy's passing. I know I was devastated. I went to go see the Diary of a Madman tour, and Randy had died only weeks before the show was due to stop by New Haven, Connecticut. Devastated. Weeks. I just remember being so heartbroken.
It is a mystery how the Rhoads family puts on a happy face with the Osbournes. ...there is no way I believe they truly enjoy each other.

@@MrClassicmetal Kelle's "Rhoads" album was actually pretty decent and a bit ahead of its time. Less LA "Glam metal" and more prog-metal of sorts.
Quiet Riot with Cavazo was way different than the Rhoads era .
What was so amazing was RR collaborated with Bob Daisley, since Rhoads was so knowledgeable of Chord Progression and scales when Bob asked him to write in minor keys he really started experimenting and got amazing results.
it seems like RR like writing in major keys with QR, then with Ozzy

Bob got the most out of Randy. Bob was in the business quite a bit longer than Randy and I bet Randy looked up to him
the whole thing opened up for Randy when he worked with Bob, he got a seasoned songwriter, and he was allowed to develop his ideas and run with them.

Quiet Riot absolutely rode the coattails of Randy’s fame. We all learned of them as the band Randy was in before Ozzy.
I think Kevin even said they got a second lease on life because Randy Rhoads was the founder ..
But Randy didn't write Metal Health riff. That was all Cavazo. Randy QR was unlistenable
I am not knocking him at all, but Randy had very little to do with QR's success. He had all already passed away before Metal Health was released.
The main factor was that DuBrow upped his game as a singer/songwriter. Major progress from the first two QR albums. His lyrics were horrible (see "Mama's Little Angels" or "Face to Face").
I would say Van Halen's success opened the door for many LA-based bands, too, as they single handedly demolished the idea that the guitar was obsolete. This was the age of disco and new wave.

Simple. Kelly wanted Kevin out of QR, and Randy felt a loyalty to Kevin. This had been brewing for some time. So, they finally had a huge fight about it at Kelly's house, Kelly pulled out a gun and shot a round into the ceiling above Randy's head to scare him, but it just pissed him off even more, so Randy then came flying out of his chair at Kelly, they fought, and Kelly was fired the next day.

@@MasterSumai it was written at soundcheck while Ozzy was asleep on the bus. After they put it together, they woke Ozzy up and gave him the lyrics and melodies to sing.
@@MasterSumaiYou Said It All was written and recorded at soundcheck. The audience noise was added later for it to be released as a “live” recording on the Mr. Crowley EP.
