- This is a three year progression video of me in my small NYC apartment pruning and repotting my Ficus microcarpa retusa "Tiger Bark Fig" indoor bonsai. This one is an experiment where I took cuttings, tied them together for fusion, and planted them over a rock.

you made that tree and its awesome! all those bold cuts six months ago turned out to be great choices
Thank you! I love experimenting with cuttings.
Skilled work and passion, the tree went from awesome to even more awesome! I love how the bark turns from brown to a light grey colour as it gets old.
Thanks Nigel! This species is my favorite for indoor bonsai!
Wow amazing bonsai
Thank you for the compliment!
Your thumbnail is sicc af 😲 my bonsai lost a lot of leaves. I like how you showed the progress. 3 years wow 🌱💯 you gave me confidence 🤞
Thank you! Yeah keep at it, even if your tree looks sick or dies. Keep trying! I’ve killed many trees.
Perfect timing! I’m just 3 mos. post planting a tiger Bark root over rock/statue. Also just trimmed & wired yesterday then “Bam” - or LAM! here’s a video!! Looks great! Thanks!
That’s amazing! Such a coincidence!
That ramification along with the strong aerials, root base, and thick trunk base you've got going on are really working out so well! Glad to see this experiment in progress. Keep up the great work!
I appreciate the encouragement! 🙏
Wow, so cool. I think ill try it myself :)
Great! It’s a fun experimenting.
Amazing you can get the progression you do indoors.
So cool!

Thank you!
More great work. Love those ficus
Thanks! Ficus is my favorite indoor species.
Now I need to make one of these!
Go for it!
Looks amazing! I am currently doing a similar fusion project using 5 small green island ficus cuttings (already rooted), hopefully in about 3 months they will fuse into 1 tree and I can put it over a rock, since you've given me an inspiration in doing so.
Love your videos
Great Ficus videos. Looking forward to watch more.
Where do you keep them in winter? What humidity & temperature?
Cheers,
Erkan
Hi. They stay on my windowsill all year. Whatever temp and humidity my apartment is, whether heated or not.
Awesome work! Great video!👌🏻
Thank you!
Love progression videos
Good to know!
Wau, very nice tree!
Wow! Nice work man!
Great progression! Did you root the cuttings before tying them together for the fusion?
Thanks! Yes, I rooted them first. I've done same experiment with cuttings that were not yet rooted and it still works. The problem is some of the cuttings may die before rooting. So best bet it to root first, then tie together.
Ótimo trabalho!
awesome stuff! just found your channel. Definitely subscribing!
