  • This is a three year progression video of me in my small NYC apartment pruning and repotting my Ficus microcarpa retusa "Tiger Bark Fig" indoor bonsai. This one is an experiment where I took cuttings, tied them together for fusion, and planted them over a rock.

    Skilled work and passion, the tree went from awesome to even more awesome! I love how the bark turns from brown to a light grey colour as it gets old.

    That ramification along with the strong aerials, root base, and thick trunk base you've got going on are really working out so well! Glad to see this experiment in progress. Keep up the great work!

    Looks amazing! I am currently doing a similar fusion project using 5 small green island ficus cuttings (already rooted), hopefully in about 3 months they will fuse into 1 tree and I can put it over a rock, since you've given me an inspiration in doing so.

    Great progression! Did you root the cuttings before tying them together for the fusion?

    • @BonsaiByLAN
      @BonsaiByLAN  3 года назад +3

      Thanks! Yes, I rooted them first. I've done same experiment with cuttings that were not yet rooted and it still works. The problem is some of the cuttings may die before rooting. So best bet it to root first, then tie together.
