    I liked how you showed what you do to get the humidity higher for the plant. How long do you typically do that for?

    Best time lapsed growth progression and method visual of how you got there for the lost part... im very interested in figuring this out more so I can incorporate this method into naturalistic bio active snake enclosure but at about a 4 ft tree size any suggestions ?

    Thinking about getting into Bonsai never really paid attention to our plants except to water them. One is a dwarf umbrella tree think I'll see what I can do with it, wish me luck!!

    how long do you leave your tree sealed in the plastic bag? seems like a v effective technique!

      Hey! I don't have a specified amount of time. Sometimes just a week or two while on vacation. Other times 1 to 2 months if I am attempting to grow aerial roots. I just check it once a week to make sure the soil has not dried out and also to make sure mold is not developing. When I get enough aerial roots that have reached the soil, I will open up the bag and leave it for another week or two before eventually fully removing it.

    Very nice to see the progress you have made with this tree! Amazing how many aerial roots the plant grew in the humid environment.
    I have two questions though. How did you prevent the tree and leaves from becoming moldy within the bag? and, Which fertilizer do you use in your water?

    • @BonsaiByLAN
      @BonsaiByLAN  3 года назад +5

      Thank you! I open it up once a week to make sure mold is not developing. If there is mold, I clean it up and let it ventilate for maybe 30 min to an hour before covering again.

    I have quite a few schefflera and am trying to get aerial roots. How long did you leave it in the bag? And how did you avoid mold?

    I have had my 1st schefflera for less than a month & it got infested with scale :( is this common? I assumed I was doing my bonsai a favor by placing him outside during the day (indirect light) & I was bringing him inside in the evening. I have sprayed it with an organic fungicide spray but the directions read to do a 7 to 14 day schedule. Could u help me understand?

    always amazing work on the trees and the video work too..i have a variegated scheff that just got its 2nd trunk chop. its about finger think (2-3 yrs old). no where near as nice as yours (maybe one day lulz) . Question did you get this scheff already bonsai'ed or pre bonsai? or did you start from scratch? thanks for sharing bonsai by LAN.. id love to see a bench/shelf tour of all your trees.. looks like a cool window set up...

    • @BonsaiByLAN
      @BonsaiByLAN  3 года назад +3

      Very nice! Good luck with your scheff. I got mine as a small house plant from a shop in Chinatown, NYC. I had no intentions on buying one that day - I just happen to see it outside of the shop and noticed that it had an aerial root already!

    • @mikec3820
      @mikec3820 3 года назад +2

      i know how that goes. walked into our local nursery last winter and came home with a variegated cork bark portulacaria. that and the "frank" cork bark are the only 2 out of all my trees that i got already bonsai'ed... most i got from the sale rack nursery stock or cuttings from friends or collected from around the area here...

    • @BonsaiByLAN
