  • This is a three year progression video of me in my small NYC apartment pruning and repotting my Portulacaria afra "Dwarf Jade" indoor bonsai. In my previous video on this bonsai plant, I cut off ALL the roots in order to create a fresh new root base. That video can be found here: • Dwarf Jade Portulacari...

    The trees are looking really ancient! Lots of changes over the years and then a great forest emerged!

      I had no idea initially of how I should style them, but I am getting a bit closer to figuring that out I think haha :)

    There are two people that I can almost predict what they are gonna do, that is you and Nigel. I really love what you have to offer. I am trying to develop something here from Las Vegas. Please continue.

    Really nice vid, specially when there's good lighting. Why did you remove the bark over two years ago?

    • @BonsaiByLAN
      @BonsaiByLAN  3 года назад +2

      Thanks! I removed the roots two years ago because they were not looking good. I tried for a few years to get them in order, and eventually just decided to start them from scratch.

      @@BonsaiByLAN I remove all roots also and they come back very good. But my question is about removing or peeling the bark off the trunk. Specifically, what you do at 3:40.

    • @BonsaiByLAN

      @@ikerinarritu1321 That is grafting tape I am removing. I wrapped it with grafting tape when I was wiring the tree because the wire digs in portulacaria afra easily.

    Hi Lan,
    By the time you removed all the roots, did you removed all the leaves as well? And when you repot without roots what's next, did you water it right away? And when you puned or repot them does it need to be a dry soil?
