Colt Lyerla has a brutal family history of drugs and dysfunction. He was involved with drugs before entering college. He had a very unstable childhood and like I said before, an extensive family drug history. I hope he has turned his life around.

Colt Lyerla's college career had a lot in common with Travis Kelce's college career. Very athletic tight end who was great on the field, but got suspended for drug usage and was difficult for coaches to deal with. But Kelce went to a great situation where he was drafted by the Chiefs and had Andy Reid take him under his wing, while Lyerla never got out of trouble

NAGA is a Jiu Jitsu competition, which tells me, as someone who LOVES Jiu Jitsu ever since discovering it in 2006 in the military, and an Ambassador for We Defy Foundation, which is an organization that actually helps to push veterans toward Jiu-Jitsu, as it has been proven to be not only a martial art, but Therapy as well, Lyerla has turned to Jiu Jitsu for his athletic peace, and it is giving him a new life.
NAGA is one of the popular associations that holds competitions year in and year out. I have competed in NAGA a couple of times myself, placing 3rd in one of them in 2009. There are other leagues and organizations within the sport/art, with IBJJF and ADCC being one of the more prestigious, NAGA is pretty open to all level of competitors and brings on good competition for all.
I was honestly worried in how this story would end for him, but seeing that, even if most don’t understand Jiu Jitsu, those who really are in it do understand the values it can bring, IF you want it too. I’m happy to hear this for him and I hope his path continues to get better.

@@nakmuay7705 I love to hear that! And I want to say…. I love my Muay Thai as well. I started learning the same time after I started learning BJJ, and already with a wrestling background, I took it all in.
While deployed in Iraq, is where I met Doug, who is my now close friend, and Muay Thai coach, as his background is Muay Thai and boxing. We kind of did a trade off. He saw what I learned, and said it sucked, and I opened his eyes to Jiu Jitsu/Grappling.
I can proudly say, with him being a veteran as well now, he really took in to it, and has picked up learning Jiu Jitsu, not to mention he is a black belt now and operates 2 Gracie Barra academy’s out in Southern California, in which his life long dream was to run his own martial arts gym. He just never thought it would be in this direction.
He too pushes in his classes to help with depression, and huge with his kids classes to teach anti-bullying.

    • @ItsDaOneMac
      @ItsDaOneMac 9 месяцев назад

@@nakmuay7705 I love to hear that. It really does do wonders for people who really need some kind of change. It’s more than just grappling. There are so many things in life you can pick up from it, not to mention, you are learning to defend for yourself in the least of all things and fitness.
I too, also have a huge love and respect for Muay Thai. My base background is wrestling, but I started in Tae Kwon Do first in Martial Arts. I started learning Muay Thai the same time I started learning Jiu Jitsu while in the Navy.
During my deployment to Iraq, is where I met my true Muay Thai coach, and now very close friend Doug. We kind of did a trade off. He scrapped everything I was taught in Muay Thai to learn the right way, and I showed him the ways of Jiu Jitsu.
Doug took it in so much, while still serving as a Marine and retired, just like a few of my other friends, he has stayed committed and now is a Black Belt, and it has fulfilled his life long dream of running his own Martial Arts Academy/Gym under Gracie Barra out in Southern California. He just never knew it would be in this direction of Jiu Jitsu.
In his programs, he implements ways to help defeat depression, and helping those combat it, civilian or veteran, AND for his kid classes, they really enforces Anti-Bullying to children and parents when he has his classes.

And his point was that, if not careful, I could mess up my body chemistry, pretty easily with seemingly harmless things like cigarettes (vaping is way worse), caffeinated coffee (natural insecticide), artificial sweetener (for un - alive-ing rodents), Coca Cola / Pepsi (phosphoric acid is really rust remover), and peanut butter (causes me more acne than shown in this video).

      1. Unlike vape smokers, there are no nickel, tin, and aluminum deposits in cigarette smoker's lungs.
      3. U inhale a higher concentration of nicotine when u vape, compared to smoking a cigarette. Coping with more powerful withdrawal symptoms causes u to do it more often than a cigarette smoker.

But, what this tells me is you simply haven't lived long enough or matured enough to understand that people turn to drugs for all types of reasons, and those reasons are one's that the user doesn't understand, hence why they turned to drugs.
Are you lucky enough to have never had a friend or loved one turn to drugs? Or, do you just abandon them?
Maybe you can never emphasize but hopefully you'll learn to sympathize. Obviously, something big happened in this young man's life to turn him upside down and we all can hope he turns it back around.

@@Michael-or2cn nope. I’m a pretty good cop. Actually, an expert. See, I’m a DRE - Drug Recognition Expert, which means I’ve been trained and tested to a level where I’m allowed to give my opinion in court as to what drug or drugs someone is under the influence of. Face sores are commonly a sign of meth use, but that is because up to about 15 years ago, that was the most popular and prevalent drug nation wide. In reality, face sores are a sign of really poor hygiene and picking, which is common with hardcore opiate addicts. The fact that he A) played a contact sport where injuries and painkillers are common, B) Was arrested for forgery (usually of prescription), and C) was arrested for heroin, a derivative of opiates, possession leads me to believe, logically, that he was likely addicted to opioid pain killers.

To give folks an idea of what a freak athlete this kid was, there was a video posted back in his high school days of him standing in a pool waistish deep in the water, and he jumps and lands with both feet on the pool deck. Absolutely insane. And the fact that he was still able to do it now as seen with the one in this video is bonkers.

Saw him probably 8 months ago working out and he looked good, so hoping all is well with him.

13:25 it’s a minimum security jail. They put nonviolent criminals in there people that commit forgery and things like that like this guy did, and for people who only have a short amount of time. They figure would not be stupid enough to run away and catch more charges cuz ur time there is short. This story is sad but it’s very common.m, it’s just highlighted because he lost a potential NFL job. But drugs have destroyed the American generation of this age. Those same drugs took away the potential of millions of other Americans that would have done great things for our country and people. Don’t get it twisted this was planned and an act of war declared on the American people. The weapon they used was 100000000000 times more effective than an atomic bomb because this bio weapon didn’t just kill everyone in one area it’s targeted and destroyed millions of military age men and women. This is bigger than this man. This is the biggest crime in human history and u can find the people by name who did it and made billions of dollars off the backs of our suffering. I hope this young man finds peace and realizes what was done to him and his generation was an act of war.

That said I remeber when I was addicted to heroin I had to do only 3 months in jail but the withdrawals were so bad 1 hour felt like 3 years. I at the time thought of ways to escape and would even dream about it. I never tried but I can understand his logic in the moment. He wanted drugs right then and there and he would have traded anything for them. That’s how strong of a hold they have on you. It is a weapon used to destroy the middle and working class white Americans so when they invade and replace us we can’t and won’t fight back. Our own government is our biggest enemy

You must be religious. I say that because you seem to think drug addiction is simply a choice ( good vs bad). That's NOT how it works. You might have busted a line and forgot it about the next day, but some people.. it triggers something in their mind. The only difference between him and you is that his brain works different from yours, and that's not simply a choice. I wish him the best.
