The main issue with Jays management is that their plan was to build a team that would only give up two or three runs per game. The problem? They can only score one or two runs
When Vlad batting .200, hitting into double plays, base running errors and getting thrown out by taking to much of a lead , and Bo not hitting, Jansen injured, Springer not hitting you are toast.
@@elchancho8432 2024 April, May, June, read the entire comment, I did not say the entire season, I also included Bo, Springer, Jansen. Last year they almost had a record amount of games without a run in the first inning. The comment I replied to was about the lack of runs the Jays produce.
as a jays fan , trading away gurriel and hernandez is def what led to this team collapsing. Management panicked so much after 8-1 and decided to become a fully defensive team for some reason.
@@joshuaRamnauth06 imo 8-1 was Schneider’s fault for pulling Gausman so early, and Bichette’s (an infielder mind you) for not letting Springer just field the ball. Even if it just bounced at worst it’s two runs.
not schneider (alone at least) but the too many cooks in the kitchen. after we blew another wild card game with a horrible pitching change (berrios) it's pretty clear that that those decisions came from Atkins' and his gang's spreadsheets@@a18yearoldonyoutubeluigi
They really had no choice but to trade them... blue jays had way too many catchers and needed position players, ei. left fielders, and the jay's other catchers had minimal trade value... and hernandez had been in decline since 2021 and was over 7% of the blue jays Competitive Balance Tax... If you think that's the cause of collapse then the team was way too fragile to begin with.
I remember Hernandez and his D burning the Jays when it counted and people wanting better defense out there, Gurriel has never been particularly good since he left Toronto(or his last two seasons there, for that matter), his bat would play middle infield or in center but is weak for LF, although he is good defensively there
The front office is so incompetent it's laughable. Free agents have reportedly mentioned that they wanted the Jays to sing Vlad and Bo before wanting to commit to Toronto. Now Bichette wants out and the Jays don't want to pay Vladdy. It's an embarrassment as a Jays fan...
Shatkins is the biggest problem with the jays right now. They won’t commit to their own players, and they don’t pay attention to the problems they have every year. They do the same offseason moves every single year and then expect a playoff run. Oh and Schneider is a bad manager, he’s just a puppet for the front office.
What if they aren't incompetent... They are pretending they're going to spend money, to keep the fan base, but continually not doing so making more profit
*Shapiro. Anyone working for Shapiro is just an extension of his decision making. Alex Anthopoulos knew that from the outset. That's why people like Atkins and Schneider have jobs, if their performance was relevant they obviously wouldn't be here, its their willingness to do what they're told take a cheque and smile thats important. After 10 years with zero post season wins and a home depot rental property blacksplash behind home plate, the experiment should be over for Mark.
@a18yearoldonyoutubeluigi I figured Shapiro might fire Atkins if the owners were giving him heat on the disastrous off-season. But you are almost certainly right. The owners are afraid of change
The downfall started when they changed managers. It fundamentally changed the culture of the team. Charlie Montoya nurtured that young talent. He allowed them to be a fun young team. They then fired him and made the interim, Schneider, permanent then brought in Mattingly to be the bench coach. That accelerated the decline and sucked the fun out of the team.
@@ibrahimkhalif83 I’d argue they just failed to find a good manger at all. Montoyo and Schneider were both not the answers. We needed someone like Stephen Vogt.
I agree the mgr is the problem. Shapiro and Atkins are incompetent but the Seattle and Minnesota losses were 100% Schneider. Schneider is a horrible mgr.
@@kevindao1103 The worst part is, they're services are all crap as well as their TV Stations. Rogers cares more about making money than fielding a competitive product.
Jays got rid of Anthopoulos (and Beeston), who promptly won a World Series with comparable Salary. Name *one* player developed by Blue Jays post Anthopoulos (Manoah?). There is no winning culture, and minor league talent pool is bone dry.
AA sold the farm ro make those 15 16 teams winners ... especially 15 ream prob should have won ..but it was an aging team ...JOSE, DONALDSON , EDWIN WERE ALL past their primes .....AA went to atlanta with a young talented roster ...its not shatkins fault they blew that series to seattle
@lalk3434 The scary thing is, Shapiro/Atkins are now in control of Blue Jays longer than Beeston/AA, and have absolutely nothing to show for it. No one signed under age of 30, and one of Bottom ranked minor league talent. At some pt, their utter failure need to matter. Right? Will Brad Treliving be blaming Dubas for Leafs' failures in 2030? Of cos not
@lalk3434 You know what's scary? Out of curiosity, I looked up avg age for Jays in 2015 and 2024, the 2015 was just a bit Younger than 2024. Not by much, but younger. Hmm
One thing that really annoys me for blue jays fans as a giants fan is how people like Boras will toss out our teams names for leverage to get their client more money, and while I get, they’re just doing their job. It’s really aggravating having all these “leaked” rumors come out and get a teams hopes up just to have them be baseless nonsense
It is depressing as hell being an Ms fan right now... historically badass pitching rotation and they won't get any bats... do they think pitchers score runs or something ?
The Blue Jays are the Giants of the AL. Hardly anyone wants to play there because it’s a fundamentally flawed organization and until you get the crew running things out and replaced with grown ups things won’t change.
It’s also just funny how every big game between the Yankees and Blue Jays late season the last few years has resulted in the Yankees practically stomping them out.
Lifelong Blue Jays fan right here. Our management/front office/ownership has made me invest less in this "team" more than ever! Shatkins and Rogers Communications are slowly burning everything down and I will not be going to another game until actual change is done!
Hey man, just finished watching your video. As a lifelong Bluejay fan I was hesitant to watch it, but I do appreciate everything you said in it. I unfortunately was at the 2022 playoff game against Seattle Mariners ( game one specifically ) where the Jays could not score a run and it was probably one of the more frustrating and disappointing games I’ve ever attended. I will push back on a few things you said while I do agree that the team has under achieved my biggest gripe with the Blue Jays has been ownership as you mentioned in your video. George Springer has the biggest contract of Blue Jays history at $150 million yet they have completely messed up negotiations with Vladimir Guerrero Junior, who by the way is Canadian born, and I has openly said that he wants to stay in Toronto, and yet this ownership has completely and utterly ruined negotiations with him as well as Bitchette. Now I defended this ownership for four years when they first came here, but after they ruined the negotiations with Vladimir Guerrero, basically paying him prove it deals, meanwhile, you spent $300 million to fix your outfield but yet you can’t sign any players to any deals of any kind. I was done with this owner ownership and the manager to me as an idiot. I don’t expect the Jays to be competitive. I’ve already accepted that, but for me, the ownership is the biggest reason why this team is under achieved.
Watching Berríos after that 2023 playoff series added some bitterness to that very sweet moment. This was our guy for a long time. Drafted him, developed him into a very good pitcher, and though we had to trade him I still like the guy, and I eagerly await him earning win number 100 next year. But watching him sit there as the team he grew up in celebrating success that he never had with them, after he worked through some really rough seasons in Twins Territory. That stung. And it looks like he might be snakebitten again from a team perspective.
I dont see how vladdy saying that trailer quote or manoah telling that pressure joke was them being overconfident. It was just them being excited about their team/joking around. It's not like they were saying they are the best in the league.
The main problem with the Jays is actually the fans. They don't hold the front office accountable. The FO know that they've got a built-in fan base of 40m people who will support them as long as they occasionally put out a new hat with a maple leaf on it and grab a top Canadian prospect. Misplaced feelings of patriotism have kept this team alive
Can't forget about the $1 hot dogs and all the other festivities you can do around the newly renovated SkyDome during a Toronto Blue Jays game. Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins gotta pay up those renovation fees somehow by sucking up to the fans and have them flock like a bunch of sheep and attend a game and watch a poorly managed Toronto Blue Jays team that is currently garbage at the moment.
@@anthonyriggio2612 here’s the deal about last year, many of the tickets were bought before the season started, that’s why attendance was still steady, people thought the team would still be somewhat competitive, next year, I would not be shocked if attendance dipped. Not even looney dogs will get people to come, including myself. Btw those people who come to games in hot dog outfits are without a doubt team plants, like just objectively, they don’t care if the team sucks or not, they’re probably paid to be there
In April, I was in Toronto visiting family, and decided to go to a Blue Jays game. Part of that was to knock Rogers Centre off my bucket list, but the other part was because the Jays were hosting the Dodgers and I wanted to see Mookie and Freddie play. Never in my life (outside of pickoff attempts, for some reason) have I heard louder boos than whenever Ohtani came up to bat.
NGL some of the classless fans in this city deserve the suffering the Jays and especially the Leafs have given them. But at the same time you can't blame them. After the Raptors won the championship in 2019, playoff failure has been the motto across the city.
Part of the problem with Toronto is that their home grown core didn't pan out as needed. Vladdy is the only player you can rely on to just be at least good every single year. Bichette had been that guy as well then was hurt and ass this year. Cavan Biggio had a promising 1st couple years then didn't pan out and was traded. Danny Jansen had a down year and was traded. Alejandro Kirk has been a below average bat the last 2 years after a promising start to his career. Davis Schneider predictably fell back to Earth. Orelvis Martinez got popped. Manoah went to shit in 2023 and only made 5 starts this year. Nate Pearson didn't pan out as a starter and hadn't been good in the pen, then got traded. Many of guys Toronto brought in to push the homegrown core over the top have not been up to par either. George Springer has offensively declined every year in Toronto, and was below average with the bat across the past 2 years. Gausman was still alright but not the staff ace they needed him to be. Berrios was a fine #3 but his K/9 and FIP fell off a cliff, which is not good for the future. Bassitt had his worst year since like 2017 and Kikuchi was also basically replacement level before being traded. Justin Turner was only slightly above average with the bat and was still the teams 3rd best hitter. Whit Merrifield was worth less than 1 WAR across nearly 200 games. Kiermaier went from being a roughly career average hitter to hot ass with the bat in 2024. The problem isn't that good players left in FA. They absolutely lost a number of pieces that were key to previous playoff runs. Gurriel Jr, Teoscar, Robbie Ray, Semien, Matt Chapman, Brandon Belt are all nice, but not irreplaceable. The problem is that the core has collapsed over the past 3 years, and the good players that were signed were not good in 2024. The Jays roster theory was decent, but when all but 3 players on your team underperform by 10-20%, you don't stand a chance. They are in a bit of a limbo right now. They have some interesting pieces offensively that could be a part of a core. Varsho is Kiermaier 2.0, Ernie Clement (who I loved as a bench bat in OOTP 22) has shown promise, Andres Giminez is a Gold Glover, Kirk has regressed but I still like him, and Vladdy is Vladdy. But there are just so many question marks to guys that the Jays need to not be question marks. Especially with the rotation. How does the trio of Gausman, Berrios, and Bassitt fare after a somewhat suspect 2024? Does Manoah figure his shit out? Is Bowden Francis legit as a starter? What are you going to get out of Orelvis Martinez and Loperfido? Does Bichette stay or go? Can George Springer turn back the clock with the bat? There are just too many unknowns. They are potentially the least trustworthy team in baseball in terms of knowing what you're gonna get out of them.
I knew biggio wasn't going to work as soon as they put him on the bench. Someone who's supposed to be a superstar all position player who rides the bench? BS. Management lied on how good he was and they couldn't lose face about making a stinker of a choice. Anyone who actually thought the jays were seriously in on and were being taken seriously by those players - soto and ohtani were smoking the brand that shatkins was selling. They'd rather rely on a bunch of spreadsheets and formulas to tell them how to build a team and make management decisions rather than using their own experience, which is they have none.
@@lurkingknight The spreadsheets and formulas help you determine which specific players to target. The biggest problem that Toronto has is that they are in the AL East. In 2021, they were a 91 win team with the Pythagorean win % of a 99 win team, and they finished 4th in the division. In either of the other AL divisions, they have a chance of being a consistent threat. To win the AL East you need to win 100 games, and to win 100 games you either need a shit load of money or an immaculate tank job where almost every prospect pans out. The narrative of "well they just have guys that crumble in big moments or the playoffs" is an objectively incorrect argument. The Toronto Blue Jays over the last bunch of years has had an offense that struggles against top flight right handed starting pitching, which there is a lot of in the playoffs. Other than that 1 random Brandon Belt season in 2023, the Jays did not have a good left handed bat to stick in the middle of the order. The Blue Jays have been unfortunate over the last couple of years, but it's been overshadowed by other things like missing out on the top FA's despite offering competitive deals. Management has absolutely made mistakes, but a lot of their key prospects that formed the core of the last few years (as well as some that were supposed to add to it) simply did not pan out or started fine then regressed to below league average. You can't win when most of the guys you develop wash out or regress.
People that say "other teams can spend big too" are just all around ignorant to any baseball knowledge. Yes, in theory that is true but it's only true if the players accept the contract to come play. LA has the demographics appeal, sponsorship appeal and just all around upper advantages to other teams in regards to getting new players. And they take FULL ADVANTAGE of that. Teams like the Bluejays couldnt get the best players to take all deferred money or take big contracts in general. So in short, other teams are willing to spend but if the players don't accept, it means nothing.
The problem with the blue jays is the same one with the padres. They don't have an organizational identity so they try and fail to copy other division rival teams spending without development of young talent. So you wind up with a middle tier underachiever with a few fluke runs. They should've been more like Tampa and Baltimore foundation wise
both underachieved against division rivals and came up well short of their goals is the point. the blue jays had two fun years in 2015-2016, losing in the ALCS to the Royals (who won it all) and Cleveland (Who almost won it all) and were arguably the more talented team in both matchups. The Padres have 3 wild card round series wins and a sterling dodgers upset but that's it. They blew it against inferior talents in 2022 vs Philly and 2024 vs the Dodgers when it should have finally been their year. I'm actually insulting Toronto historically by comparing them to San Diego because Toronto won back to back titles in the 90s, but recency wise theyre the same organization right now @@a18yearoldonyoutubeluigi
Everyone hates Loss Shatkins with due reason. He can't manage anything & always says stupid stuff he has no self awareness or cannot read the room bc he continues to say the most atrocious things. Jays management has been ruined for ten years now thanks Rogers!😂
I used to joke about everyone knowing a kid like Manoah when they were young. The kid whose house always smelled like spaghetti was cooking…. I stand by that.
I actually fucking hate the blue jays. These years were fun, but they were fucking painful. So much potential and talent just wasted. A fun hitting core traded away. I thought this team would win WS, instead were just a basement dwellar for the foreseeable future.
Dude…chill. Teams go up and down. Somebody has to lose and there’s no reason it shouldn’t be the Jays. They’ll only win the WS once every 30 years on average. It’s an eye roller when you hear someone say a team hasn’t won it all in 20 years, when there’s 30 teams in the league. And given normal stat variance, 30 years could easily be 50 or 75.
@@a18yearoldonyoutubeluigi yeah they are either getting bounced by the Bruins or bow out earlier than they should. At least the Raptors have that 2019 championship but apart from that them, the Leafs, and the Jays are massive playoff underachievers
Don't act like the Ohtani situation was the fans fault - that's just disingenuous. Pretty universally trusted baseball guy Jon Morosi was the one who tweeted about it, and nobody disputed it for over an hour, until the revered Boob Nightengale questioned it. Any fanbase would lose their shit in the hour we were told Shohei was on his way to Toronto -- the literal day before he signed.
I'd add an assist to Rogers Sportsnet on this. We've been told over and over again that we're "in our window" and "an attractive destination". You can read that "we" as "Leafs fans" if you prefer.
Thank you for this. After the 2021 season came to an end and we missed out by a game, I remember telling my dad, "I am so proud of this team, I know that within the next few years they'll be a World Series team and won't break my heart like the Leafs." Little did I know they would make me hate being a fan of them just as much as I hate being a fan of the Leafs. The reason why we got to this point is easy, failing to create balance in the roster. The year after we had that miracle dash that fell short, we fell short on pitching, mainly some of the bullpen but also the fact we basically had only 3 starters with Berrios and Kikuchi being shells of themselves, it's why 8-1 happened. In 2023 we couldn't hit, period, complete fault of the front office to trade offence for defense because not having defense was the reason that 8-1 happened to them, ignore the bullpen being cooked and Bo Bichette trying to play hero interfering with Springer on that bloop fly. Of course we then experienced ultimate pain of seeing Semien Lourdes and Moreno in the World Series. Last season, not only were there injury's, the failure to get Ohtani or any notable free agents with the buzzword of "internal improvements" being the only signifier for hope, it led to an utter disaster of not being able to hit and having the worst bullpen in the game. Honestly Teo and Ohtani should be happy that either didn't come or stay with this team, they would have never won like they did in LA. The way Atkins botched this rebuild and misunderstood the reasons as to why we failed in years prior would be grounds for immediate dismissal after a season like they had. The trash talk is also something that should be scrutinized but it was far from the biggest problem. Unfortunately, Atkins won't be gone unless Shapiro is gone, and I doubt he's fired after all but saving the Rogers Centre, that stadium renovation is the only relevant thing we've done the past 5 years besides 8-1. Schneider should have been either demoted back to assistant or fired after the 8-1 game where he foolishly pulled a hot Gausman. Ultimately nothing will change because Rogers are apathetic owners. The fact that free agents don't want to be Canadian and hate taxes is just the icing on the cake. As a result of everything my love for this sport has been crushed, I will not go to any games or spend a cent on this franchise until they prove to me that they actually care about the fans and want to honors the people of this city and country with a winning team like it deserves, especially if Vlad is not in a Jays uniform in 2026. As of now they're just another embarrassment in sports like this city has been known for for the better part of 3 decades now 2019 excluded. They are truly the same level of embarrassments as the Maple Laughs but with a different coat of paint. Sometimes I wish the bat flip on my birthday of October 14th 2015 never happened, maybe then I wouldn't become emotionally invested in Toronto's torturous sports teams besides the Raptors, maybe then I'd be happy.
This video is therapeutic for a Jays fan that totally bought in after the 2021 season and then watched a horror show the next 3 years. One thing though, signing Gausman in place of Ray was a masterclass move and something I supported before the deal was made. Ray a max effort pitcher now doesn’t really have a strong place on any team due to injury. Atkins did a lot of good things building the pitching up which is what killed them in 2021. But the hitting totally evaporated and then died after Teoscar and Gurriel were traded.
I was a day 1 hater for both Ross Shatkins and Mark Shitpiro. I reallty thought they did something in 2021-2022 but then blew it all up and I hate them again except even more.
I loved that 2021 team so much. I was born in 1996 and grew up in toronto a diehard jays fan, so obviously there wasn't much to get excited about for a while. I wasn't alive for their world series and I had to wait til I was 19 to watch them make the playoffs the first time. I'll admit those teams with Bautista, Encarnacion and Donaldson were electric and I'll never forget that series wins against Texas and the WC win vs Baltimore. Then in 2017 I moved to Texas for 3 years only to come back during the pandemic. In 2021 I was finally making big boy money and when they finally opened the stadium to limited capacity I was hyped, it was awesome with the small crowd; you had more space to yourself and the people you came with and you could hear the players talk on the field which was cool. I remember seeing this chubby little catcher who swung so freely and would get on base a bunch and always hustled. Decided to buy his jersey in the baby blue, it was before they even had the Kirk jerseys made and the guy at the desk had to ask me his number. I was really debating whether to go with 30 or his original 85 but so glad I went with 30. Was so bummed they missed the playoffs and then that Ray and Semien left but there was so much hope. Went to probably 10 or 12 games in 2022 and with the full capacity the crowds were always electric. Went to both playoff games that year. That first one it was tough to watch Manoah struggle, but the feeling was he would bounce back in the ALDS. Then that game 2, they come out and get a big lead and the crowd was hyped, beers were flowing, felt like the city had a team to rally around again. Then that collision between Springer and Bo, everybody's holding their breath hoping they're OK. I swear nobody in the stadium noticed the Mariners tied the game til the next at bat actually started. Was so bummed going home from that but still you had a feeling they'd come back in 2023 with something to prove. Then Teoscar leaves in free agency which surprised me a lot. After Manoahs early season struggles I had a bad feeling for the rest of the season. Fast forward to seeing guys like Biggio, Gurriel, Jansen, Chapman and Romano leave really took a lot of the character out of the team, but at least we still had our core pieces like Bo, Kirk, Guerrero and Springer, but now that's looking unlikely we'll keep that together. I really hope they can keep those guys somehow and rally back in 2025, would be a great story and would be what the franchise is all about, making something out of nothing. The best Jays teams I've seen in my lifetime were led by Bautista and Encarnacion, 2 guys that were written off before coming to Toronto who became legends. I'm really worried for this team but I still have some hope.
Manoah and Vlady are both examples of talented yet clearly lazy, hyper confident chubby dudes. Stay humble and learn to work truly hard. Take your talent to the next level and let your game do the talking. The truly great ones have other saying “This is Vlady’s house” for example.
I think one big aspect you missed is trades. Trading away World series winners in Teoscar Hernandez, Llordes Guirriel Jr. and Gabriel Moreno for minimal return as well as two of those guys being life blood/heart of the team type guys. What message does it send to the rest of the team (whether intentional or not) when the guys that appear to have the most fun and be the happiest get traded? Not just that but besides Matt Chapman, Atkins hasnt added any impact rentals for a team with world series or playoff aspirations.
'23 was hilarious, I had fun though, enjoyed lots of hot dogs, the new renovations are fantastic, maybe the new club house facilities are too comfortable for the lads?
Insane how nobody ever talks about this. It’s one of the most embarrassing fall offs in sports in recent years and it’s all because their gm is obsessed with “defensive runs saved”
As a Yankees fan watching this team the like 16 times a year, i placed them below the twins in terms of threat to the Yankees. They never had it, as a Canadian i saw people realize that quickly each year, jays fans would check out at the drop of a hat.
You'd think with a 20 minute video, there'd be some insight into issues with management, issues with coaching, problems with team culture... SOMETHING that might explain what has become (as the title states) a "downfall" of the Toronto Blue Jays..... but NOPE. Mostly it's just a timeline of events, a few interview quotes, and a couple anecdotes that even the most casual fan would have heard dozens of times already. The commentary in the video makes a few painfully vague comments about player overconfidence, but nothing he says really raises to the level of even subtle criticism. It sounds very much like some guy trying to comment on the team's record while at the same time trying desperately NOT to offend anyone in the Rogers organization. Sorry SRS, but when sports reporters that WORK for Rogers are more critical of the team than you are, maybe it's time to step up your game a bit.
Toronto sports can make the most sane of people become the Joker. Easily the worst sports city in North America if the Vikings win the super bowl this year.
Jeez, you aren't even a Jays fan and you essentially described perfectly why I have been so disenfranchised from the Jays recently. I fell for the bit after 2021, loved our young. talented team. Only to watch them throw it all away and become terrible. They got rid of some fan favorites, and made terrible game decisions (pulling Berrios in that game when he was on fire stands out, and I wasn't even a huge Berrios fan!) I get the impression that management doesn't want to win. Call me a fair weather fan if you want, but why should I spend 3 hours a day watching a team when they clearly aren't doing the things a team should do to win. If they got Ohtani, or even Soto, or if they changed managers, GMs or ANYTHING, I would see it as trying to move in the right direction. For now I will just wait for such a change to happen. Who knows how long that will take.
As a life long Jays fan ....born in 87 ...i vaguely remember the 92 93 series .. from 94 to 2015 i was used to a barely competitive team ..now we act like the 15 16 teams were the norm ... everyone needs to relax ....rather not sign anyone than overpay and get stuck
I’ve been saying the young “core” from 2000ish were seriously cocky. They needed respect, discipline and leadership. None of which they got. And this starts with the top executives and moves all the way down.
As a Red Sox fan who has been frustrated with the lack of spending and signing pitchers coming off Tommy John, at least they have a strong farm system. The blue jays i think have a bottom half farm system. The regression from these players are tough to watch as a baseball fan.
The takeaway I get from this video, is if you are on a young team and something good happens, enjoy it and accept that this is as good as it ever gets, no point in striving for more? Seriously??
The Teo trade was to relieve salary and improve the bullpen. To be fair it worked in the first year cause Swanson was a key part of the bullpen before injury and his son nearly dying and Teoscar wasn’t optimal in Seattle, he didn’t even make the playoffs there. Us seeing him win in LA means we feel the same pain as Mariners fans. Lourdes and Moreno though, that is truly unacceptable, but it is weird that Varsho’s production just plummeted, almost like our hitting coaches destroy players and anyone who gets out of this festering mess is able to find success.
Great vid. Something that you captured perfectly was the helpless feeling of being a Jays fan. "it just has to go your way eventually" is something that stings pretty hard. There is extra judgement on management because you are making decisions for the entire country's baseball team. YOU HAVE ALL OF CANADA YELLING AT YOU TO DO SOMETHING.
The helpless feeling of winning back to back World Series Championships and one by a walk off homer lol. The Franchise has still done more than others and that’s while competing in the toughest division the AL East
Do you really think the reason for their regression is "because they didn't enjoy their success"? You don't think managerial moves or coaching played any kind of role?
You know things are bad when a respected content creator makes a 20 minute diss track on your team and every fan of the team says "Yup, that's about right" in the comment section. Red Sox and Yankees fans should be dunking on this but even THEY feel bad for us so they leave it alone.
I’m a tigers fan living in Toronto - from an outsiders perspective, it is the gm and president, and also the turf. Nobody wants to play on turf and play for management that has no idea how to build a team. No idea.
Taxes are moot because all Jays players get paid in USD, and the American dollar is strong as ever against the Canadian Dollar. It’s literally as of Jan 12, 2025, a 40%+ discount on everything.
@7:57 nut shot to Alek was so unexpected😂 Jays fans, the team needs new ownership, a new front office turnaround, & a new manager. I was baffled that Schneider got an extension after that 2022 playoff meltdown. The Jays helped end 2 long-term playoff droughts of the M's & Twins back-to-back years. So outrageous..
Ive been a blue jays fan since i was 7. I grew up watching the josh donaldson and jose bautista jays. Theyre the first professional sports team i ever started following. But these last few years have really tested my loyalty and i hardly watch baseball anymore
The Biggest issue is their inaction with their current roster and their complacency with being "Greatful to be a part of the process" of signing big names that never actually end up signing the Jays.
This shit makes me sad, I got back into baseball around 2021. After not really paying attention to it for about a decade (I live in the UK, it’s hard to find places to watch baseball over here). I have always rooted for the jays since I first went to the Roger’s Center back in ‘98 and I was so excited when I first saw this team play with Vlad, Bo, teo, Lourdes, etc. and then a only a couple of seasons later, it’s all gone. And it’s fucking depressing man.
Hold on... playing the clip of Drake and the lady in reverse was absolute genius hahaha shes crying giving him the money and he has the biggest smile of his face taking it. Such a Drake thing to do.
I was at that game in 2021 final day of the season I might have had one of the worst seats in the house but it was one of the most enjoyable game I’ve watched in recent memory things haven’t been the same since
It's not embarrassing when the owner Rogers is so cheap they treat the team like they are a small market team despite the fact they have a market size double that of LA and NYC and they refuse to spend like the Dodgers, Yankees or Mets
From the incompetent bench boss to the fools in the front office to the lack of professionalism on the field at times this team has thrown away as it were its relevancy in just three years.
The main issue with Jays management is that their plan was to build a team that would only give up two or three runs per game. The problem? They can only score one or two runs

not schneider (alone at least) but the too many cooks in the kitchen. after we blew another wild card game with a horrible pitching change (berrios) it's pretty clear that that those decisions came from Atkins' and his gang's spreadsheets@@a18yearoldonyoutubeluigi

Shatkins is the biggest problem with the jays right now. They won’t commit to their own players, and they don’t pay attention to the problems they have every year. They do the same offseason moves every single year and then expect a playoff run. Oh and Schneider is a bad manager, he’s just a puppet for the front office.

The fact Ross Atkins has a job is beyond understanding.
It’s cause Rogers are apathetic as owners. Him and Shapiro would have to be fired cause they’re a packaged deal, but Edward is too afraid of change.

The fall off was crazy but sad man
Part of the problem with Toronto is that their home grown core didn't pan out as needed.

If it makes you happy Vlady will be in Boston, a team that would definitely fit in line with that attitude.
The Embarrassing Downfall of Stark Raving Sports
Ngl you can never be too critical with this team. They deserve to hear it.
The sad part is there wasn’t even a rise since 2016. All that waiting amounted to another rebuild
Soto is a terrible outfielder and you got one of the worst deals in baseball... But I'm happy you're happy.
Jeff Hoffman about to turn this entire franchise around
I hope so but he has a lot of health issues

nice joke
Listened to end. Amazing video. Really makes me stop and re-evaluate turning 49 this year if im going in the right direction
They are so similar to the leafs its uncanny
Trailer was solid, but movie ended up in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart.
Disney Direct to DVD Sequel
Bro the Piccolo theme made laugh hard, thank you for the giggle
Imagine what might have been if Alex Anthopoulos had stayed and continued building on the juggernaut 2015-16 teams he put together.
Is it hard to understand why a franchise player would rather be in LA or NY than Canada ?
I’ve been saying the young “core” from 2000ish were seriously cocky. They needed respect, discipline and leadership. None of which they got. And this starts with the top executives and moves all the way down.
We thought we would get that with trades in 2023 to bring in more experience, but nope.
Seriously??
trading Teo for two no name pitchers and then Gurriel & Moreno for Varsho, two of the WORST TRADES IN BASEBALL HISTORY.
Yeah, tell me you don’t understand anything without telling me you don’t understand anything
Leafs fans and Jays fans are united in this failure to advance in the playoffs
At least the Leafs make the playoffs consistently.
It’s turned me into the damn joker, it’s not even funny what a joke our city has become in sports and just as a city itself.
@@BmanTheChampjust to bow down to their owner in the Bruins every year. 1967 will never die and I’ll suffer forever.
Ross Atkins should never be allowed to hold a position of authority or decision-making for a sports franchise for the rest of eternity.
Now they missed out on Sasaki, even as a Jays fan, this is hilarious at this point.
as a mariners fan i still cannot, even going on 3 years later, believe we won that game 2. jays shoulda had us dead to rights. unreal lol
@@ryanc988831 years is a long time ago.
No idea.
Rangers won with astroturf
Jays and Mariners have some of the most toxic fans yet their teams never make it
Mariners fans I picture as more permadoomers than toxic.
Jays fans might be the least toxic in the league
Mariners fans are just depressed.
I will be a Jays fan til the day I die, which if this team stays on the same trajectory, that death will be in about 5 years
I remember for many years, they were penciled in to win the division. They've yet to get close
This team had double the talent they did in 2015-2016 yet they couldn’t even win a game
Taxes are moot because all Jays players get paid in USD, and the American dollar is strong as ever against the Canadian Dollar. It’s literally as of Jan 12, 2025, a 40%+ discount on everything.
@7:57 nut shot to Alek was so unexpected😂
Jays fans, the team needs new ownership, a new front office turnaround, & a new manager. I was baffled that Schneider got an extension after that 2022 playoff meltdown. The Jays helped end 2 long-term playoff droughts of the M's & Twins back-to-back years. So outrageous..
um... you have to be up in order to fall.... when were they ever up?
Ive been a blue jays fan since i was 7. I grew up watching the josh donaldson and jose bautista jays. Theyre the first professional sports team i ever started following. But these last few years have really tested my loyalty and i hardly watch baseball anymore
The Biggest issue is their inaction with their current roster and their complacency with being "Greatful to be a part of the process" of signing big names that never actually end up signing the Jays.
As a Jays fan, this hurt to watch but no lies were told.
You’ll be able to make this same video in three years about “The Embarrassing Downfall of the Baltimore Orioles.”
Hold on... playing the clip of Drake and the lady in reverse was absolute genius hahaha shes crying giving him the money and he has the biggest smile of his face taking it.
You have no idea how much this video hurts
From the incompetent bench boss to the fools in the front office to the lack of professionalism on the field at times this team has thrown away as it were its relevancy in just three years.
