What's Happened to the NCR after New Vegas?

  • In the Fallout TV Series, a fan favorite faction returned for an appearance, except in a somewhat diminished form. The NCR, once a powerhouse of a faction, appeared to be on its knees - with its forces weakened and their capital city nuked. Their status in the show led many to believe that the NCR as we know it was over.
    However Todd Howard had confirmed that the NCR would be appearing in Fallout Season 2. In this video, we will take a look at where and how the NCR might be appearing in the second season of the Fallout TV Series.

      They should’ve shown elements of the Children of the Cathedral.
      There could’ve been a cultist with family ties to the Cathedral and saw the nuking as an opportunity to push the faith.
      It’s been about a century since the destruction of the Unity, so the specifics of the religion has been playing a game of telephone - explaining the “Flame Mother” and ash bits.

And after shady sands is destroyed moldaver makes it her mission to find infinite energy and rebuild a pre war world. Something Lucy seems to have a connection to. @@teyrncousland7152 Then you must have no eyes either as Shady Sands was quite clearly destroyed and the region barren. Why would the NCR have any reason to go there? They have no idea what destroyed their "first capital" so why would they risk returning and trying to civilise the region if they have no reason to? The "ghoul serum" doesn't contradict any previous lore. No the substance isn't shown before, but that doesn't ruin or retcon anything. This substance could've been developed by the NCR OSI, it could've been discovered after new vegas, it could be a pre existing drug like mentats or radaway that helps a ghoul keep better composure of their identity. The shady sands location is the only real issue here as you're quite right, it seems to have moved. But that's not something unique to the franchise. Shady Sands moved locations between Fallout 1 and 2, then further moved again in New Vegas to a place that doesn't make any sense. In New Vegas it's said to be in Death Valley, but it's also said Death Valley is completely uninhabitable because of the heat and radiation.

After Shady Sands got nuked, they pulled out of North Cali, and possibly South Cali, to aim their resources and military onto other sights. The NCR in the show was only a rogue faction. Those are all facts as of right now. My opinion tho is that they lost the 2nd battle of Hoover Dam, probably a House ending, and that's a BIG part of why they weren't able to rebuld Shady Sands. The nuking of Shady Sands just reinforced a belief that I held when I was first playing Fallout 4: Bethesda either won't, or can't, write post-post-apocalypse.
    We all know that Bethesda has a serious problem with writing, they can do small character stories but when it comes to the world's story they frequently drop the ball. They're just not good at it.
    On the other hand the entire brand of fallout is post apocalypse and they can't risk anything messing with that brand. So you get situations where people have been living in the ruins of Boston for two centuries and not moved out of the stadium and the ones that have moved out just live in tiny camps.
    It's absurd to think a people would let themselves stay bottled up forever when they're on the same level technologically.
    I think they decided to nuke NCR for 2 reasons
    1: to remake it as they want
    2: it's easier to write a post nuke Shady Sands than a post war shady sands in gradual decline towards a slow end of its own making

    2 reasons why the NCR was destroyed in the show:
    1) The NCR was created by Black Isle, and Obsidian and Bethesda don't like that they're preferred over their own factions
    2) Bethesda LOVES their big guys in big armor, and so the Brotherhood has to be the major faction in anything they make
    There's also an argument to be made that the big armored guys pull a larger general audience than the regular soldier looking dudes

    • @MrMadre

    • @tillermarkets2063
      @tillermarkets2063 Месяц назад

      @jonahulichny9874 Yeah, in hindsight, bringing up that the NCR is a Black Isle creation is a moot point due to that. However, my point about Bethesda simping for the Brotherhood and how they have an unspoken disdain for Obsidian still stands.
      They adopted the Brotherhood as their own baby, probably because of how fantastical they are. But the NCR can't be the major faction of their show because the NCR was the faction of New Vegas, and that game wasn't theirs. They're going there for season 2, yeah. They're only taking advantage of how beloved that game is while also shitting on it. I love the show, but it shouldn't have taken place in California

    I'm surprised you are tolerant of the lore changes. Primarily the changes with shady and the nuclear strike in 2277 which I believe is the correct information, I don't trust Todd on this change and seems as a defence from criticism because of Bethesda's treatment of Fonv.
    They really didn't do a good job on the lore of the show they nailed elements of the costumes and environment minus the geography but other than that the show was just depressing as a longtime fan.

    • @w.a.o.a.w

      The chalkboard was just dumb there is no way they nuked it before New Vegas, I assume a bad miscommunication. Moving shady sands to LA then nuking it was such a weird move, if they didn’t want the NCR presence why have it in California.

    • @MrMadre
      @MrMadre Месяц назад +2

      That doesn't make any sense. You're complaining that you don't trust Todd so you're just saying they destroyed Shady Sands in 2277. But they didn't. It was destroyed in ~2281. Todd said this, it's weird to just deny what the head of Bethesda says about their IP because you don't trust them then say their lore is wrong.

      If you take them at their word it's conflicted at best, you have 2277 on the board saying the decline and then immediately an arrow pointing to a nuclear strike. You can take this as it declined for 5 years prior and then they got nuked and didn't bother to record the date when the nuke happened. Then the show shows that dates stopped being recorded around 2276-7 in their library or they realised there is going to be a fan backlash to them wreaking the lore. I think they were just trying to get ahead of the kerb.
