Tough it is, but a horrible thing to have in the bed of a truck when you want to quickly unload dirt or gravel. Or anything. I actually bought a drop in bedliner to cover it.
I had a Hi-Point in .380. Very solid handgun (heavy = low recoil) that my wife loved to shoot. It was great to throw in a truck box without worrying about scratches. Plus, not a single jam ever!
fixed barrel design hence they shoot straight by default! - And that huge 'cast iron' slide mitigates recoil. only other gun in that design is a makarov and much smaller, and snappier, and shoots 9x18. So slightly hotter than a 380. one of my favorite carry pieces.
I have a number of Hi Points and I can honestly say they'll never win any beauty contests, and I can't say they'll ever be accused of being precision made weapons, like some of the higher priced pistols I have in my collection. @@johndoe7270 I have the 995TS. over 1000 rounds through it and not one single jam. It came from the factory with the iron sights dead on at 50yards. If you get one, look into Hi Toper Armory. They make a great conversion stock that I purchased and installed. It converts it to a bulpup.
My favorite scene was the slow motion shooting on the cabbage. The reason I like it is because this gun is designed based on a blow back action utilizing the slide weight to keep the breech closed until the bullet leaves the barrel to avoid gases blowing backward.. And the slow motion shooting scenes show the cabbage damage before the slide starting to move backward, so Hi point have mastered the blow back design for the 10 mm - kudos to hi point.
Just to nitpick, it’s not really to “prevent the gasses blowing backward” It’s to delay opening until gas pressure is low enough to not blow the case head off. 9mm peak chamber pressure is pushing the case head backwards with about 2 metric tons of force. Which is equivalent to the tensile strength of 0.5 square inches of solid brass
I've owned a Hi-Point 9 mm carbine for years; it's been great, it jammed a few times when I was using crappy ammo. But with a good ammo I never had a problem. Now I absolutely have to get myself a 10 mm hand Cannon!
Hope you did get one. I preordered one immediately after they were unveiled at Shot Show 2023, and I have not looked back. After nearly 1,000 rounds, it still runs like a beast. Looks pretty good, too. Always have people asking me about it when they see me carrying it in public. Folks LOVE seeing a huge fkn hand cannon and talking about it.
@@deborahchesser7375 I wholeheartedly recommend these things to anyone who wants a lot of bang for a little money. Yes, they are big and heavy... but where else will you find a 10mm with an underbarrel picatinny, cut section for red dots, and threaded barrel... all for around the $200 mark? Closest competitor is more than triple that price, you know? And even better? They're legal to hunt with in most states if you're feeling bold, thanks to the barrel being just over 5-in long.
@TexanWayBoy As far as Hi-Point? They only have the one. The JXP-10. I got mine with the threaded barrel so that I could legally hunt with it. As far as other companies? I haven't owned any 10mm stuff from them.

I really enjoyed this. This is the first review of the Hi-Point 10mm since tfbtv showed it at SHOT show. This really showed the reliability and handling of the pistol and a comprehensive review of both calibers.
I'm amazed to see your progress over time. You're always improving your techniques, form and delivery and I think one day soon every table is going to land upright on the first try. In five more years you'll land them balancing on one leg.
Bought a Hi Point C 9 (9mm} in 2004 20 yrs later still have it . I used it in my work (Armed Security ) for 6 yrs It now is my bedside gun. It has always been dependable and still a great firearm.
I have had a high point 9mm in my boat for 15+ years. Rain, sun, humid or cold it always fires! Never jammed, no misfeeds or failure to fire. It stays loaded and only whipped down with a silicone rag when I think about it. It has always been 100% reliable. I can't ask for more! JMHO
We’ll they have put a lot more research to fix the problem. I say they should go after a little more expensive market and actually make something that can compete with other budget brands like CANIK and Taurus
About 98% of all complaints of hi points comes from the magazines, which for whatever reason the company has been slow to improve...the straight blowback design is inherently simple and reliable, although heavy...we have a new 995 that we are already liking, after years of debating whether to buy a hi point or not...now i'm ordering a couple extra magazines, so I guess we'll keep it...
You bet. Think as Hi-Point like the flat screen that is still bulky and blocky sold today. It'll definitely work for people who need one, no questions asked
Nah, they are ugly, bad capacity, way too heavy & made out of crap materials. I don't think they deny that & they aren't really trying to cater to us gun guys. What they do succeed in is being reasonably reliable. If you aren't into guns but want something for home defense, Hi-Point is vastly better than nothing.
@@TheeabdielCanik and Taurus should no longer be put in the same category. Canik guns are now in the $500-$700. They are just as well put together as Glocks and Sigs. Hi-Points issues mostly stem from their crappy magazines.

I appreciate your dedication to re-standing the predator every time 😂 That first .45 into the cinder block was interesting, you don't usually get a nice clean hole with cinder blocks, usually it either does doesn't break anything, or absolutely shatters it. It's only science if you write it down Scott, otherwise it is just screwing around 🤣
Correction... It's not science unless the results are repeatable, you can write anything you want and call it science but unless some one else can do it exactly the same and get the same results then it is not science.. eg. The time someone desided to try to prove the theory of creation by determining the age of the earth based on sedement deposit at a set rate of deposit at a single location over a time frame, he concluded that the earth was something like a couple "HUNDRED" years old... Ya his "SCIENCE" experiment said the earth came into existance somewhere around the time the USA declared independance and "NOTHING" existed before that... True story... Results are scientifically "BOGUS!"
Hi point is underrated for sure . I bought a c-9mm about 20 years ago for $80 it was my first gun still have it today and the customer service is great. They have there place for sure.
That was impressive and hilarious. I've shot a 380 hi point and never had an issue and neither did the owner. For the price one can't go wrong , especially when considering a 300.00 to 500.00 dollar in price difference with more popular pistolas. You sir are entertaining as hell, thanks for posting.
300.00 for a high point is a joke. You can buy them all day on gunbroker and similar sight. Honestly they're extremely reiable;, but clearly wouldnt be my daily carry for obvious reasons lol
I have a Hi-Point carbine and it has run perfectly fine. It cost all of $315 and had fewer malfunctions than my AR that cost 2 1/2 times as much. The real downside is the low 10-round capacity and the horrible disassembly process. That's something that won't outweigh the low price.
For a pistol in that caliber, a Ruger Security 380 is a far better buy and worth the extra money. It's more compact, has better ergonomics, better finish, is a major brand and has more round capacity. Hi Points look like someone made a gun from diecast pot metal and the grip of a child's toy pistol lol. Those tribal people in Pakistan make firearms that have a far higher quality finish than Hi Point has or even some KelTec guns. I even seen a anti-2A hit piece about some villagers in the Philippines who make clone 1911s from scrap metal that make Hi Points look like utter trash 😂.

This video supports what I already knew, Hi-Point firearms are excellent overall value. I like both my 380 pistol and my 10MM Yeet Cannon, they both shoot flawlessly
I would like to say that this Hi-Point is a lifesaver definitely for people living in Alaska or Canada or anywhere where there's brown bears or dangerous animals and they can't afford an expensive pistol or rifle, this gives them an option of a reliable 10 mm they can throw some 180 grain FMJs and defend their family for $200
@HOG8541 I think that depends on how you define best. Is it most reliable? Clearly not. Is it most durable? No again. Is it the best looking? I think so, but I'm an aesthetic masochistic. Is it the best at fulfilling the the natural right to self defence for as many humans as possible? Maybe so. Throughout history it was rare for a military to supply soldiers with the best possible weapon because that is an impractical goal. Typically, soldiers received the most cost efficient, easily produced, and simplest to learn weapon that still functioned in a modern military setting. Of course one might find examples to the contrary, but fancy, expensive, complicated weapons were never the norm. Even today, with the largest military budget the world has ever known, the US military still considers these points when choosing weapons systems. For civilians in the US that weapon might be the Hi Point pistol. I bought my first Hi point new for $150 a few years back. I've seen them for less since. I could have gotten four of them for the price of a new Glock, or one of them and a couple hundred dollars ammo for training (which is what I did). It is definitely not the best at everything, not even most things, but is arguably the best commercially available product at the primary purpose of a firearm; defending the masses against all threats to life and liberty. If so, that makes the Hi Point a contender for the best gun in my book.
I have a JXP, once you break in the trigger it’s very solid. Compared to my friends Glock 20, it recoils wayyy less, however it’s probably double the weight. However fully modular compared to it. Got it for $157, I have no regrets.
Still have no intention of getting a Hi-Point any time soon, but! By all accounts, including Scott's, they've improved their product considerably in recent years. Hat off to them for it.
Just like I don't make fun of the out of shape person at the gym (because at least they're trying to better themselves), I'll never be a snob at the range. We as 2A supporters have lots of enemies - someone with a Yeet Cannon at the range is one of us. Hell, I'd probably let him shoot my Glock while I try out his Yeet Cannon! 🇺🇸
As a very happy owner of a Hi-Point JXP10, I legitimately use this video to show people WHY I love the big beast so much. One of my friends actually bought one for himself after talking to me and watching this video.
ive shot the 45 and 9mm and 380. the 45 was flawless. the 9mm was old and used but coule USUALLY get through a mag without an issue. the 380...... i dont think it had enough umph .. and would jam a lot...... so 10mm i expect would be pretty damn good considering frame is same as a 45. and that never gave me issue. hes tempted me too.
It certainly is the nicest looking of all of the Hi-Points I've seen and it just works. I think it was a brand-new Kimber 10mm a few years ago that Scott had never fired and I think it "You just got jammed" on every other shot!
As a retired special operator who has owned many many different guns in all calibers, I finally got rid of all of them except my Highpoint C9. I use it for hunting and fishing and whenever I'm in a gun fight, and has never let me down! ROTFLMAO! Great and entertaining video my Kentucky brother from another Mother! 👏

I must say that thus Hi Point is a vast improvement over the older models as far as presentation. It still won't win the beauty contest...but I personally think it's not that bad! As a matter of fact I may even consider one chambered in 10mm.

I handled one of these at Sportsmans the other day, and I was amazed with the sheer amount of steel in that thing... 😂 You could probably make 3 or 4 regular pistols if you melted down the slide.
I like how on the slow-mo you can see just how heavily the slide rockets backwards. Hi-points may not be light as a feather, but damn if that weight doesn't make them reliable.

I bought a Highpoint 45 ACP from a friend at a very good deal. Brought it to the range and put it through some Hell and she did not jam not even once. I think it’s the big and bulky that people don’t like about it but it works. Far as distance it wasn’t bad but for a affordable home defense weapon, you can’t go wrong with one at all.
I bought a Hi-Point second hand that had a defect from the factory. Hi-Point sent me a new pistol. Other than finding the right person to talk to, their customer service was pretty good.

@@mrjodoe not exactly if loaded to it's original specifications. Which is nearly impossible to buy off the shelf. Thankfully there's Underwood's and Buffalo Bore Ammunition companies here in the USA.
With 180 gain bullets the 10mm is 1250 ft/s at the muzzle with 624 foot pounds of energy. 40 S&W is 1000 ft/s at the muzzle with 400 foot pounds of energy. 10mm has a longer case, hence the faster speed.
@@mrjodoe Not exactly. Both use a 10mm/.40" projectile. 10mm was developed first and was originally loaded hot. It was too hot for its original customer the FBI to handle so the charge was reduced. Smith & Wesson realized that with the lesser charge the case did not need to be so long. By shortening it to the same length as a 9x19mm it could fit into 9mm-sized frames with only minor modifications. 10mm is a longer cartridge and will not fit into a .40S&W chambered gun. You can fire .40 in a 10mm gun because the extractor will hold it and the bullet will jump a short distance into the barrel like firing .38 Special out of a .357 Magnum-chambered gun. If you can find original load 10mm it's got some kick to it. Most retail 10mm is the FBI load equivalent to or only slightly more powerful than .40S&W which sort of defeats the purpose.
Interesting to see them compared! Would love a comparison between 10mm and 9mm also, especially at medium/long range to see how it loses velocity and penetrating power with distance.
10 mm is a magnum rated cartridge, 40 Smith & Wesson is a scaled-down 10 mm in much the same way 357 and 38 special are related. 9mm and 40s&w would more the "9mm vs 10mm" comparison I think you have in mind considering 40 is a 10mm with a 1/16 inch shorter casing and less pressure......9 to 10 is a huge jump gloss over the magnum part and skip the 10mm short aka 40s&w
@@RedPillAlways I keep plus P plus for some of my 9mm with solids. Still don't compare.....you aren't just talking about a slight diameter increase it also a very large jump in bullet weight. Unless you get ahold of some variables you're talkin about comparing apples and oranges..... Especially because 10mm ammo off the shelf is anemic at best 99% of the time.Underwood does some that are better but still not operating at full chamber pressure for the design.SAAMI cuts off at 32k or so for chamber pressure off the shelf where the 10mm was designed to run at 50k. If you want to see I could probably dig one of my go pros out and get video when it warms up enough to shoot.
This is a helpful video, as I’ve been toying with the idea of buying a 10mm hi-point semiautomatic. My 9mm’s are Glocks and a Canik. Your adolescent exuberance makes this such an entertaining video to watch - not goofy or artificially hyperactive, but genuine enjoyment with what you’re doing. Thank you for the experience. Blessings, Grace and Peace 😊
@Nathaniel Shrock 10mm is actually smaller bullet wise but case length and powder amount is a pretty big difference because the ammo I buy for my 10mm is more or less powerful then 357 magnum from the same company The only reason it isn’t more powerful all the time is because not all bullets have the same powder amounts even from the same box
Didnt even know about this brand. I was looking at S&W and others. Im actually impressed by the performance. Dont care about looks but performance. Think I will be pickup the 45acp one as my first personal sidearm. Great video as always!
I have always said that having a High Point is better than not having a firearm. If that is all you can afford it is better than nothing. Good video that shows what I determined over 3 years ago about 10mm vs 45ACP. I was considering getting a 460 Roland but compared 10mm ballistics to 460 Roland ballistics and they are vertually identicle. 460 Roland ammo is only available as handloads or buying from Roland. I can find 10mm in a lot of places. My daily carry is 45ACP and I was looking for another caliber.

@@obsidianet exactly lol. I’ll take a dagger over any hi-point every day of the week.

My cabbages!
Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣
There really isn't much to master.
Just keep adding weight until it works.
Just to nitpick, it’s not really to “prevent the gasses blowing backward”
It’s to delay opening until gas pressure is low enough to not blow the case head off.
9mm peak chamber pressure is pushing the case head backwards with about 2 metric tons of force. Which is equivalent to the tensile strength of 0.5 square inches of solid brass
@@thomasa5619 interesting information. Thanks for sharing

I love the carbines. Accurate and they use pistol mags.

My first 45 was the Hi Point JHP. Very reliable, very accurate, heavier than a brick. I still like shooting it.
Decent but very reliable? Naw bruh it definitely fired 80 percent of the time the dam mag was the issue had to file it down

There is something charming about an ugly pistol (lots of people buy Glocks after all). It is kind of like owning a bulldog. 😇
I have never had an issue with a Hi-Point. They are definitely dependable. The only real drawback on them is how funny most of the models look 😂
The carbines remind me of the guns in Tim Burtons Planet of the apes
The only issue I've had is aftermarket mags. That's an easy fix.
I think the HP and Glock are similar in looks 😆
Dependable and weigh enough to use as a battle ax if you run out of ammo !
A burglar won't notice how they look .
I really enjoyed this. This is the first review of the Hi-Point 10mm since tfbtv showed it at SHOT show. This really showed the reliability and handling of the pistol and a comprehensive review of both calibers.

A great advert for Hi-Point, not even a single malfunction and shoots straight
Every time I see these Hi-Point videos, I'm actually impressed 90% of the time. I think its reputation may be a BIT undeserved.

That first .45 into the cinder block was interesting, you don't usually get a nice clean hole with cinder blocks, usually it either does doesn't break anything, or absolutely shatters it.
It's only science if you write it down Scott, otherwise it is just screwing around 🤣
Depends What type of concrete the cinder block is made out of. Not all sender blocks or concrete are the same.
Some 255gr Underwood hardcast .45acp+p would vary a lot from some 185gr hollowpoint.
“Which is the best firearm for you?”
“The one you can afford”
I've never once meet a person who couldn't afford a gun that had one better than me...

😂, I’m glad it worked for you, but “best pistol out there”…that’s a slight stretch
Best is quite a stretch

ist "10mm" nicht dasselbe wie .40S&W?
@@jacobishii6121 That was a really nice and comprehensible explanation.

Limited resources may direct me to saving up for a Glock, but that hi-point is tempting.
Your adolescent exuberance makes this such an entertaining video to watch - not goofy or artificially hyperactive, but genuine enjoyment with what you’re doing. Thank you for the experience.
Blessings, Grace and Peace 😊
I am a Hi-Point fan boy! Owned several guns, 1911's, glocks, RIA, Taurus, and rugers. The Hi-point 45 ACP JHP is my favorite.
Your intros are GOLDEN! I never laugh so hard as I do watching them. I’ve probably watched that intro 10 times now 😅.
I love Kentucky Ballistics i've been watching this channel since 2018 keep up the good work!
Well. yeah but you kind of restored my faith in .45 there, Scott. It didn't do half bad against the 10. Underwood 45 ammo is super!
@Nathaniel Shrock 10mm is actually smaller bullet wise but case length and powder amount is a pretty big difference because
the ammo I buy for my 10mm is more or less powerful then 357 magnum from the same company
The only reason it isn’t more powerful all the time is because not all bullets have the same powder amounts even from the same box
Didnt even know about this brand. I was looking at S&W and others. Im actually impressed by the performance. Dont care about looks but performance. Think I will be pickup the 45acp one as my first personal sidearm. Great video as always!
Dude do not get a hi point 😂
I absolutely love this guy's character he is playing.
Been watching him for years 😅😅😅
I have always said that having a High Point is better than not having a firearm.
