- When the wife (Joanna Moore) of a good friend (Angus Duncan) of Darrin (Dick York) wants to buy Sam's (Elizabeth Montgomery) magical mink coat, the Stephens have to come up with an excuse for not admitting that the coat has disappeared.

This was one of the most heartwarming episodes ever! What Samantha does for the love of Darrin, beats everything that follows. One of my favorite episodes.
I think Durwood is perfectly right here. It’s not that she used witchcraft, it is that she unwittingly hit a nerve. He wants to provide her with beautiful things but can’t. It’s the flip side of the anniversary scene with the roses and the watch-what they both want is a life of earning your way, not having everything handed to you.
I wish the writing had stayed this strong throughout the series.

You're absolutely right. Samantha used her witchcraft to make Darrin seem more successful than he actually is. She meant well in trying to defend him, but she was wrong this time.

This is a good and rather dramatic episode, Dick York and Liz are just perfect............and Angus Duncan appears in one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes 'Twenty Two'

Elizabeth Montgomery also wore that dress on HOLLYWOOD PALACE, which she hosted sometime late in 1966.

From what I understand, a lot of them wore their own clothes, except for Darrin. His clothes were furnished by the Botany 500 company.
@@corneliuswhite5139 the supporting cast of Bewitched had to bring their own clothes from home a week before an episode is filmed so that the wardrobe crew could clean the clothes and iron them before they can wear them on an episode. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
I know I say this a lot, but it's true: this was a great episode. Samantha looks beautiful in that often-worn dress 👗, while showing Darrin and Daphne that 'you can't put a price on sentiment'. The scene when Samantha gives Daphne the coat always has me in tears 😢, no matter how many times I've seen it. Oh and Charlie Harper was a nice guy.
Daphne was played by Joanna Moore who appeared on dozens of TV shows in the sixties. From Ms. Harper Stacey.

I do two of those and it’s nobody’s business. Mink is perfect in Canadian winters
@jodyjackson5475 yes, fur coats are warm. People wear leather and that too comes from an animal.
I understand Darin, because I have been in that situation before. Being with someone who makes more and trying to give them presents during holidays.
Darrin was a annoying character, but there is a bit of understanding offered here. "I want to be the one to make you happy, but I can't even touch what you can do with no effort." Wonder if that is what it's like when someone marries a rich person?

Sam was not impressed with either Charlie or Daphne. Charlie thinks he can buy whatever he wants. Even Darrin was just happy that he beat Charlie at something, even if it cost him money.
Charlie reminds me of Joe Baxter. Sam blew up both their bubbles. 🙂

43rd..best part of this episode is when Sam gives Daphne the Coat .... and she says I'll have charlie cut you a check.... and she says NOoooo Im giving it to you....

That guy who played Darrins' friend had SO MUCH FREAKIN' MAKEUP ON I can't believe he could hold his head up!!! He looked like a wax figure!!

I think she had the same dress in mint green also.
I drive a big rig and was very surprised to learn the mink raising is bigger now then it was when this show was made. Thing is the minks are pelts are going to Russia. So I am not sure minks farmers can still sell to Russia .

Love this show! Darrin's character is awful, but it makes me feel good to hate on him. I wish they would make something similar to this nowadays.
I was not happy with the character change once Sargent took over the role. While the character Darren was already disagreeable - they increased it, and made him unlikeable. It was almost too late when they would add a likeable behavior.
@@michellegulden1052 I also wasn't happy when Sargent took over the role. York had severe back and health issues. He fell and hurt his back earlier in his career. He was on pain meds and some episodes while filming you could tell that he wasn't himself. He smoked about 4 packs of cigarettes per day.
@Caroline Wilson what's his cigarettes got to do with his chronic pain ? They thought we'd not notice when Darren was played by that other actor. I never did get used to him!
