#pokemon #fakemon #stem #halloween
I appreciate Nortist's capacity to say "there's no denying this halloween decirations go pretty hard" with a comoletely serious tone and keeping the nexpo voice
Comoletely
*completely
that's it! i had a slip up, now i'm not correcting it just for the bit
(there are many slip ups actually jjjejejejajaja)
Goofyness aside, having a mon about DNA analysis for halloween is such a display of creativity. Combining spookyness, STEM and pokemon is not an easy fit.
You dont have a skeleton inside you, you are a brain inside a skelton covered in meat armor.
That's what I said!
With a skin that looks like skin
Meat power-armor
I'd go as far as to say I am also the skeleton and the meat armor
Yes I said that aswell
Guys I think he's making his own creature collector based off of science topics
I'm a student biology researcher and that description of gel electrophoresis is the easiest to understand and most comprehensive that I've ever heard. It's really finicky, but fun to do in the lab. It makes a great Pokemon concept.
I love with the visuals you hint at Grimace while not actually describing the evidence or the discovered/apprehended suspect.
If you think of coral as the discarded skeletons of sea life, cursola seems to be a good fit for reanimated skeleton pokémon
There is already a skeleton Pokémon;
It's Galarian Corsola and Cursola.
Their ghostly spines are quite literally representative of skeletons, although coral skeletons.
and it could have been ghost-rock as well
I thought that they were lifeless coral.
@yes. They're coral skeletons
@they are, & coral have skeletons.
This video is a skele-ton of fun, right to the bone!
I hope you eat well, Bone-apetit!
why.
is that you, sans?
@@homenvy1026not sure, but they surely share the same “sans” of humour
The most cursed intro for halloween
I think the reason there's more Ghost/Ground-types than Rocks because of Moves like Bonemerang and the Cubone line--skeletons and bones are, in Pokémon, associated with the Ground-type, and has been since Gen 1.
That does kinda put Runerigus into perspective. I do wish it were part rock type for the sake of having that type combo exist. I'm using one right now on a run of Shield. Gonna use a Cubone on a run of red I started but fell asleep getting far enough for the Cubone.
@@MattDustyParkerThe only reason it's ground is because it'd made of clay fun fact
wait, THE MOVE ISIN'T CALLED BOMERANG? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Houndstone, my favorite ghost ground Pokémon
@@marcoasturias8520I still think HoundSTONE, heck even Runerigus should’ve been a part rock type. Ghost is my favorite type so I just want my long awaited rock/ghost, even if the typing isn’t the greatest. Plus since gen 5 we’ve gotten at least 3 Ghost/Ground types and now when I see that type combo all I can think of is, “is there a reason one of you couldn’t have been a rock type?”
In case you are looking for an alternative evolution method:
It evolves after a critical hit from a fire type move - representing the heat as well as the 'critical point'. Might be a neat, different way to evolve a Pokemon
That's a really cool idea! tho it might be a bit too reliant on rng, i dont remember when i've last had an npc hit one of my pokemons with a critical hit lol. Still a neat idea though! :)
Alright, enough people didn't know what STEM meant to make nortist have to say "Science topics" instead, incredible lmao
Nortist, today you've made my little moncolle heart so happy. My favorite type in Pokemon and various Pokemon-adjacent moncolle games is always the Ghost-type, and I went to school for microbiology and genetics, hoping to get into research or forensics. Seeing Jelter, a gel electrophoresis Stema with a Phasmo secondary type? It's so _perfect_ I'm gonna cry
I have less emotional attachment to Gelero, as aerogels are... not really in my field - but I cannot deny that Gelero's design goes HELLA HARD and I absolutely LOVE that the skeleton portion of the design sticks to the fact that hagfish have skulls but no other bones in their body in order to support their need for super-flexibility. A++ work for us spooky creature collectors!
I appreciate the Nexpo inspiration lol, good idea for a Halloween special
Also, this is one of the most concise (and best) explaination of Missingno. You kept the spooky vibe through it too!
There’s also another gen 9 mon that’s based on skeletons, which is the Fuecoco line. Although there are more in line with Duskull, only having motifs of a skeleton structure, except for Skeledirge. Skeledirge’s white parts of it’s head could represent the exposed portion of its skull. But yes, the skeletal references are a nod to the day of the dead, where the dead are often depicted as skeletal.
This is genuinely one of the best, if not THE best "spooky pokemon" video I've EVER seen, and I've been watching pokemon RUclips videos for almost 10 years! It has such a perfect balance of silly/spooky, and THE MUSIC GOES SO HARD?! I thank you, for giving me this video.
The voice changes you do throughout the video are pretty funny. Not sure if intentional, but they are funny
As a massive PokéFanatic and a biology major, I always patiently and eagerly wait for each new release. Keep up the great work Nort!
the moist critical reference is peak
I love that the voice acting and music and editing are going really hard for spooky vibes, but the script is basically just a normal nortist script
7:30 family guy grimace shake death
I think one reason why Ghost-types tend to be part Ground instead of Rock is because dead things tend to be found in the dirt lol
The goofiest video you've made yet. I love it!
I imagine it's also hard for a Japanese company to make skeleton-based designs given the cultural stigma in the East regarding the dead, most notably in China
...There's a cultural stigma related to skeletons?
@dochatter3638 They're not really fans of anything "death" related or violence... like, at all. They're very known to censor games due to these things, like removing skulls and slapping other textures on top of them
@@novaes5979 specifically a china thing. Japan doesn't really have any such taboo.
@@10001vaderMakes sense. I mean weren’t they the ones who aired Popee the Performer??
My understanding is that Japan has it in that the cultural superstition is there, but not as pervasive and something actually acted upon in the current day as it is in China, where censorship is a common occurrence for foreign works coming in. @@10001vader
7:20 A body has been discovered! Soon a class trial will comence!
I am craving a Yamask form that is holding a fossil, then evolves into a skelerigus animating the fully evolved pokemon’s skeleton
Ngl i really do appreciate the fact you credit all the people or images on the video, keep the good work dude
Galarian Corsola is a ghost type that is an animated skeleton of the dead corals. It's kinda sad.
Woah, I love your creatures, the one based on gel electrophoresis is super inventive, but having it evolve into aerogel was just mind blowing, I would have never though of connecting those two topics via a mon, let alone a ghost themed one. It's so cool that you also kept the skeleton motif tied to the science theming all the way. Congratulations on the inventive designs!
brooo the murderer was grimace the whole time???????????
Don't forget skeledirge, despite his odd design, he is supposed to have a skull/skeletal face pattern
Now that’s an awesome concept for a fakemon/stema creature! Aerogel is a really interesting material and the fact it gets thermal insulator as an ability is super cool
Love the parody video essay narrator voice lmao
Your voice during the Pokémon reveal sounding so much like Cell to me, just for it to shift to Flamethrower Grimace was like expecting a gun just for it to be a party popper, just for the party popper to fire napalm at you.
Love the little story you did for Jelter/Gelero and love the design. Using an aerogel for a ghost-type is something that just makes so much sense. Definitely using this fellow on my team.
I like how his detective voice ranges from Clint Eastwood to the grinch
YEEES thank you for pointing out the lack of a Ghost/Rock type mon. It seems so obvious.
I'm thinking like a house spirit or something.
NORtist I just want to say that your thumbnail is incredible.
4:50: an anatomically accurate representation of "🤯"
Man :D the spoooOOOooooky outro music was such a nice touch
omg i appreciate the @nexpo reference hahahaha i love nexpo and i love that you love nexpo
Kabutops has a pretty skeletal design, even in its living form, due to its exoskeleton resembling a vertrebrate skeleton. You could say it's literally a reanimated skeleton.
I love when things I work with are talked about, like PCR etc haha
Just finished binging your stema series, and then a new video comes out. Hooray! Love your channel :)
Is that the fabled sans type pokemon??
I can't beleive that grimace was the murderer
skeletons mentioned, rapid approach engaged
Sans be like
Honorable mention to h Zoroark, which is a bloated corpse festering with deseases
I like how Kabutops has both an endoskeleton and an exoskeleton. That means it should be twice as sturdy, right?
Oh.
I love Duskull but don't care for either of its evolutions because the skull vibe is lost; wrapped in mummy bandages and then completely abandoned when its third and final form is themed on clearly the weakest of these monster types, just as its second was based on something weaker than its first.
Awesome video, N0rt!
This is so scary i hope he doesn’t say anything about skeletons being near me that would be scary
The comedy, mystery AND ONE OF THE COOLER DESIGNS?! nortist has us FED
I love a good science lesson and murdery mystery and.. creature illustration
This might be one of my new favorite videos that you’ve made, love the new creatures! I’d have em on my team
ITS SPOOKY SEASON
This video made my timbers shimber
Oh I'll definetly be adding this fella to my team once the game releases in a few decades
Grimace gets arrested for his crimes
Honey a new nortist video just dropped!
n0rxpo my favorite disturbing compilation arg analog horror analysis RUclipsr
Edit: I love his "scawy vwoice" lol
Well, spiders _kind of_ have skeletons, but a spider's skeleton looks like, well, a spider. The skeleton's on the outside. You probably already knew this, but hey, maybe there's members of your audience who didn't.
He means an endoskeleton (a skeleton on the inside).
Yoooo spooky vid on my birthday!
Geletro is so cute and facinating at the same time; I would've done the same thing if I were you🤣🤣
That Was awesome and my favourite ghost type is also a Skeleton pokemon and it is Dustnoir
Best birthday present
The perfect intro doesn't exist-
my video froze at the "can you tell me whats wrong with these images" part so I was just like "yeah... they don't exist" :P
wowzers the skeletal pokemon
i have always liked their creepy designs they look so cool 💀 (skull emoji = reference to pokemon with skulls omg real!!!)
Incredible video, as always !
when he said :what's wrong with this picture?" I accidentally switched to a tab where I had down to the bone on, so I saw a picture of papyrus the skeleton sitting in a chair. I tried to pause the video, and ended up unpausing down the bone, and this video kept playing. The video was already creeping me out, so I was legitimately scared.😄
These spooky scary skeletons did put shrivers down my spine
This has nothing to do with the video, but the thumbnail reminded me of an idea I wish Nintendo would do: I think a Pokemon game in the graphical style of Gen II but with the high frame rates an effects of Undertale and modern game mechanics would be very well-received.
I love your designs so much and this design encapsulates so much of what i think you at least intend on doing better than pokemon.
LMFAO loved this
happy Friday the 13th!
Question, why don't you go over the design of the Monster? I love how you go through everything like the inspiration and history, but what about the drawing itself? I would love to hear more about your thoughts on the drawing and design itself.
*happy cheering at DNA analysis* YEAH GEL ELECTROPHORESIS MON! WOOOOOO!
**gently holds the silly** :3 he's perfect.
7:26 Oh My Gosh! He Got Grimmaced!!
I like the new Pfp
4:14 i have this exact spider skeleton prop in my room loll
even though you barely changed your picture i didnt even notice it was you uploading the video LOL. love the design of Gelero !!
Haven’t watched the full video yet, but i know its gonna be good
I love halloween time, the best youtube videos comes around this time
Love this video, you never dissapoint, n0Rt!
I love your content❤❤
charles critical point
Damn a faces less club penguin was the culprit.
really appreciate the little jokes here and there that might go over most peoples heads 😂
I’ve had an idea for an ice/fire type based on sublimation. We still don’t have an ice fire in Pokémon
Ooh this one would most probably be in my team!!
I love basically all of your creatures, how am I supposed to choose between them??
I kid you not, youtube shut down for me at 1:05
Jesus Christ, it did it again while I was writing this comment
Happy spooky month!
Of course it’s on Friday the 13th.
Also funny skeletons
