DipDabs are Lick'em Sticks in the US (not sure if they still exist-i haven't had one since I was a kid in the late 70's when I was addicted to them) and the "lolly" was just a white stick of more sugar with a vaguely vanilla taste.

Even if it wasnt on camera he's clearly going to do his insulin😅 this is the issue I have soooo much, people getting worried about my diabetes because I'm eating like a normal human... Which I can do, I just do insulin for. No need to worry about someone else's diabetes, especially someone you don't personally know 😅 x

I don't think I've ever been more worried about someone's mental state than James when he took that first bite. He's a danger to himself and others.
Is it normal to bite fabs? I only had them as a child but I could not even imagine biting an ice lolly
@@onetwo8932 I think we all know that it's not normal at all, and that anyone who does it should be ashamed of themselves enough to lock themselves away from the rest of us for as long as their heart is willing to put up with them.
I'd watch a 2 hour special where it's just them trying different foods

Well they do have a podcast where they both talk to guests about their food likes and dislikes called "Off Menu." And also a RUclips series called "Just Puddings."

great to see that they're keeping the just puddings tradition alive where ed is being a little ray of thames-induced diabetic sunshine and james looks like he hasn't slept since the invention of penicillin
I've really enjoyed watching this but I love that they showed him using his insulin its showing something normal

I am glad they showed that. I don't know what ed uses to control his insulin. I know there's pumps you can get etc. Wonder if he took his blood sugars after.
I am also type 1 have been for 22 years 23 in April and this vid makes me happy! 🙌🏼🥹 I got diagnosed when I was 4 and this illness is a hinderance but once you get it under control it’s a super power 😊
@@beckscald3855 I have been on an insulin pump since I was 13 I am 27 now! They’re a blessing. Also he may have a libra or a Dexcom to monitor his blood glucose like myself.
@@beckscald3855he just injected insulin, that’s what he’s using to control the diabetes
It is allways nice to se Ed being so open with his diabetes. It helps removing the stigma of having to inject insulin when others see.

IDK if that's the common insulin pen in UK but it looks very posh to me.
@@thunderbirdice I work in a hospital and from what I remember when I watched the video, we see insulin pens similar to that all the time
@@thunderbirdice The newer, more effective versions of insulin that you don't need to agonize over blood glucose monitoring/etc all come in these proprietary, patented auto injectors since the dose dialing mechanism provides another legal protection and cost increase
BBC show of these two traveling eating at fancy posh restaurants and then eating the street food/hole in the wall places of all the locations they visit and see which is better. I'd watch.
Basically a remake of the trip that Steve Coogan did

I appreciate that the crew laughs! So many times on these types of shows the crew is invisible, and I think it really harms how well comedians can perform. Comedians need laughs!!

"Off Menu" is such a great podcast - for those who don't know, these two get a special guest who discusses their dream menu. Starter, side dish, main course, dessert and drink - NOT IN THAT ORDER!

I'm a type 1 diabetic too and the going in for a second shot of insulin is a VIBE
Genuine question: does it make a difference day to day if you are type 1 vs type 2, or do you say it for the ~prestige~?
@@celinavivian1162 from my understanding, type 1s have no insulin production. Our own bodies betrayed us and destroyed the pancreas killing cells. Type 2 diabetes is where the pancreas creates insulin that can't be used properly, or not enough. Type 2 at times can be managed by diet, but unfortunately I've not come across a diet which can restore dead cells. Type 1s need insulin, but sometimes type 2s need extra insulin too. Diabetes UK has lots of really accessible education pieces if you want to learn more 😊
@@celinavivian1162 there's a lot of differences, a quick Google search will help you out. But very briefly Type 1 from young age, needs insulin, type 2 generally associated with obesity doesn't necessarily need insulin.
@@celinavivian1162 Type 1 you're born with and has it for life. Type 2 people get from incredibly bad diets/being fat. Type 1 cannot be cured and isn't your fault. Type 2 can be cured and is 100% your fault.

Love how Ed just casually does an insulin shot after the sugary stuff. Many people won't see that sort of thing in public and it's a great thing to show in a video for awareness. :)
