James Acaster being interviewed by Seth Meyers is like finding out your work friend and your school friend know each other, it’s not abnormal but it’s a weird crossover of two very separate parts of your life.

"Unable to appreciate his level of genius" is probably not what you mean here, you come off as condescending. "Cultural differences," maybe? Personally I think he's fantastic, but struggle to see how his nationality makes him inaccessible. if you've watched a lot of both British and American comics, maybe you can tell me, is his style more common amongst his peers in the UK than in the usa? Is there something else about his act that is specifically "British?"
@@anthonyjs8048 i guess the awkwardness thing? or the use of implied/subtextual jokes? no doubt examples of either exist in american comedians, but stuff like that is quite core to the uk comedy scene (which is, obviously, very much smaller...) honestly i don't think most brits get his verion of it though. he's adapted it to fit him so his style is pretty much unique afaik.

Reminds me when watching the early days of Late Night with Conan. When he first started, he began a very new type of humour that most audiences just don't understand so the laughter was very reserved. Given time, he grew larger than life. @@dcmastermindfirst9418 I'm just saying that there seems to be a misconception that Americans willfully misspell your favorite words, either out of sheer pigheaded ignorance, or to be disagreeable, when in fact we simply spell those words the way we've been advised our whole lives is the 'correct' way to spell them here; we're not passionate about it nor did lexicographers ever ask for our vote.
@brandontylerburt That's just ignorance and alot of stupidity, unfortunately. Most Americans aren't the brightest sparks so they don't know any better. for those yet to see him, if you plan to heckle better be ready to get absolutely annihilated
he dismantled a man in my row
having him on is another reason Seth is the best
I saw him in SF last week. Did Austin get the Newark story? James said he wouldn't do that in NYC and I am curious whether he did if any New Yorkers are reading this... In general, James commented that the SF audience seemed too concerned with his mental health.
He didn't even have time to mention the Off Menu podcast he does with Ed Gamble - only the GOAT of podcasts!
I don’t think the majority of Americans will be able to appreciate James’ level of genius, but the ones that do sure will be pleased. He’s operating on a completely different level from the majority of us. I love it! ❤M
This type of British sarcastic, awkward comedy unfortunately doesn't usually translate too well to an American audience, I'm glad to see the host seeing the comedy genius and some of the audience, James will forever be in my top 3 British comedians, gotta represent Kettering 🙏🙏😂
I love that you can see the camera shaking from the camera person laughing at 6:26😂
I am a 70 yr old woman and James is my absolute favourite comedian
You are a legend Mathilde and good job on staying young queen
James is a unicorn of a comedian, he's great. Not everything is he does is my particular cup of tea, but he's so unique and always really refreshing.
I get the same feeling a little bit as when Ross Noble started to get noticed. Great stuff
James. Keeping 1960's colour pallets alive and kicking
Literally.
James Acaster is my motto. Started making it, had a breakdown, bon appetite!
At the Seattle show(first stop in this tour) he did the Macaulay Culkin my girl bit, and my only "heckle" the whole show was yelling exposure therapy during it which he responded positively to. The fact he added it to his description makes me smile so fucking much.
curious if he referenced any of his other shows on this tour, I saw this one just over a month ago and it was the most insane show - so waiting to see if he ever mentions it on any of his pod appearances.
first time i saw james acaster was on this show. his zoom interview was the funniest thing ever. i spent the next several days watching everything on youtube that he had. he is now my favorite comedian.
James' season of Taskmaster, alongside Jessica Knappet, Rhod Gilbert, Phil Wang and Kerry Godliman is my and my dad's favourite season of the show. For a damned good reason!
It's like worlds collide seeing these two together, just wish James' tour didn't sell out so fast
I spent so much money on resold tickets but it was so worth it.
My problem was that he was only here for one night on the exact same night as Sarah Millican and I’d bought her ticket before I heard about his show. I was bummed that I couldn’t see both of them!
What I love about Seth is just how genuine he seems. What a lovely fella.
James is a proper comedian, does all the panel shows (8 out of 10 cats does Countdown/Mock The Week, ect..)in the UK and just lets loose. Love the guys work, what id give for that kind of lunacy on American TV...
This is my favourite US TV appearance by James. Thanks for having him on! I hope his tour is such a big success that he comes back and adds Canadian dates.
As someone who actually feels as awkward as Acaster pretends to be. Love this.
Seth giggling at everything James says is a very good representation of how I would be if given the chance to interview James
That was gold! So gold I almost wonder if the two of them wrote the interview together ahead of time. If that was all "off of the cuff", then that was some of the best improvisational/freestyle comedy I have ever listened to.
I'm amazed at how quiet the audience managed to be for most of this clip. Every time I see this guy I smile so hard I feel like my face is going to break in half.
Got to see his show in NY, it was PURE JOY! So so happy to see James featured on Late Night, he's my favorite comedian and more Americans definitely need to know who he is!!
$#@#$@@$ love this lad.
Seriously about time he got on with Seth. Proud of James.
Very cool having watched James as an Englishman for years, finally getting his big break in America. Well deserved.
I imagine a lot of people who aren't familiar with James probably hate him in these interviews, but man he's priceless.
I'm not entirely sure who this guy is or why he's doing an interview but I love James Acaster
This guy is a masterclass in sarcasm!
I think Seth is my favourite talk show host in America as he gets the British comedians who aren't as known over in the US than they are over here in England
Acaster is easily my favorite comedian, thanks for having him on.
I’m literally sitting here crying that he was in Seattle the week of my birthday this year and I didn’t know! Literally every month I check RUclips for acaster update videos and I didn’t know… I’m so sad. He’s my number 1 celebrity crush
The crown jewel of Kettering.
Bucket list item: Seeing James perform in person!!!
I am SO EXCITED to see Acaster!! One of the funniest fucking weirdos I have ever seen. Funny in every goddamned thing he does. Pat Springleaf for life!! 😂❤️
💙 James 💙 is a delight. He's especially charming when hiding in bushes wearing a pretty new dress. 👗 ~ If you know, you know.
I just don't believe that he would choose to sleep in a bush instead of on a bench! Lmao
@@TheDylls 😁😆😂
Decorative bushes just outside Basingstoke railway station, if I remember.
@@renejean2523 very good 👍😊
There’s an old saying; it is warmer in a bush than on a bench. 🌿🌱🍃💃
Kudos to the copy writer who came up with this headline/title. One of the best ever for this man!
It’s exactly what James would’ve wanted
Quickly became my favorite comedian after binge watching everything I could find on RUclips. Can't believe I've been missing out for so long.
I absolutely LOVE James.
Regardless of what he is doing: Standup, panels, Taskmaster, podcast, music and whatever he likes to do, and he is one of the few people who is ACTUALLY FUNNY IN AN INTERVIEW!!
James Acaster is amazing! I’m from the US and it is so great to see him stateside getting some recognition on a US talkshow.
Oh my days, he's hilarious!!! I legit play a 6hr James Acaster 'Scrapes' comp when I have insomnia. Love everything he does.
Acaster is a comedians comedian, I didn’t think he’d translate to the USA, but actually once he finds his niche there I’m sure a lot of people will love him
James is amazing, I love this guy. Speaks a lot of truth and comes across as a genuinely nice person. He’s brilliant on Would I Lie To You. Extremely funny and talented 🙌🏻♥️
Love that Seth understands James!
Super excited to see him on the show. Going to see him live tomorrow
I’m so jealous! How did you find out about the tour? I’m on his mailing list and the latest email said nothing about shows in the US…
@@EmSamO Not OP but I went to his show in SF. I found out from reddit lol - the Off Menu (a podcast that James is on) subreddit posted about the tour before tickets went on sale
@@EmSamO me too! I’m on his mailing list and found out about it bc I’m often looking for shows (music and comedy) and I saw it on the venues website. They should def email their audience by country when he goes on tour. He’s a treasure.
Reminds me when watching the early days of Late Night with Conan. When he first started, he began a very new type of humour that most audiences just don't understand so the laughter was very reserved. Given time, he grew larger than life. I'm pretty sure the same would be for James' career in the States.
I love hearing people NOT really get James but the rest of us are dying laughing
James Acaster's humor has just the right combination of surreality and hilarity ... he's surrealarious!
Humour*
@@dcmastermindfirst9418 OK, I don't mind: humour, then. It's just that, in my browser, it shows up with a red squiggly line under it. Generations ago, somebody decided it would be a great idea to simplify English spellings on one side of the Atlantic and not the other, and it has been an unnecessary bone of contention dividing our nations ever since. My forebear may have been impudent, but that doesn't mean I'm unduly attached to one spelling or the other.
@brandontylerburt Yes well whoever that person was, forget him. English is English.
Not American.
Being English and an English major I cringe every time I see any American spelling and think why do they have to spell like that???? It's ONE letter, and they found it too difficult to put that in the word????
Ridiculous!!
His grandfather cabbaged me to my face.
Bring in the out of had prank with a small boy
I want it to be made clear, I hate this child and I am furious he made it on this show
James' energy seems incredibly suitable for Conan's podcast.
Damn, he and Conan would go off together like a bomb!
I like how Seth has on all my favorite British comedians
...and he appreciates the hell out of them! As do I. like Seth, another Anglo-comedio-phile?
Bro he's on American late night FINALLY!!!
After nearly 15 years. Lol
He's been on seth multiple times
@@mikeharman4257 My bad then
James Acaster! Love this man!
I can honestly picture James doing a run of jokes and finishing each one with "that one goes out to Seth! Seth Meyers!"
Thank you for having him I have not snickered so hard in forever what a fun person!
This is why I love Seth. He KNOWS and is a fan of British comedians and he just gets them. James is one of the best
