    Kasey Chambers is an accomplished Australian country singer-songwriter, who has won multiple awards and accolades for her 12 studio albums and her singles releases; and over the course of her career has faced many trials and tribulations. Her 2001 hit single from her 3rd album titled Not Pretty Enough, is a commentary on thereluctance of mainstream commercial radio stations towards not playing her music, even though she was hugely popular and successful; Kaey is a huge Eminem fan, and during Covid lockdown she reworked Eminem's rap song into her own. Such was the difference between the original and her version, she was given permission to upload this performance to Spotify in it's own right.

    Fun story I use to live in a fishing town called Beachport in the state of south Australia and she use to sing sometimes for fun in the pub as a 16 yo so early 90's and the pub went quiet with amazement with every song and no stage just a mic, she has a great voice, she has certainly made the most of it.

    Great reaction to this hidden gem that really should be going so viral that mandatory lockdowns would have to be put back in place.
    She had her fans send in videos they had of this concert and made the video for this with what they sent her.

    Kasey Chambers is an Australian Alt-Country singer-songwriter and musician, the daughter of fellow musicians, Diane and Bill Chambers, and the younger sister of musician and producer, Nash Chambers.
    From the time Kasey was 2 years old the Chambers family travelled around the Nullarbor Plain, where the parents hunted foxes and rabbits for pelts during seven or eight months a year, over the next nine years.
    All four formed a family country music group in Dead Ringer Band from 1992 to 1998, with Kasey fronting the band as main vocalist from about 15 yo, then starting her solo career in 1997. Five of her twelve studio albums have reached No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart

    Thanks for the great reaction. I’ve never been into rap and have never listen to Eminem, but I sure am impressed by his lyrics all thanks to Kasey’s epic cover. It reminded me of when John Farnham did a mind blowing cover of the Beatles Help with the MSO (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra). When a cover actually surpasses the original.😊

    • @Bluemusic66
      @Bluemusic66 Год назад

      Don’t think help by Farnham surpassed the original, although it was good.
      The only cover that may have surpassed a Beatles song was Joe Cocker doing ‘With a little help from my friends’.
      But you’re right, this cover really makes you appreciate the great lyrics by Eminem.

    • @mssuziquzi
      @mssuziquzi Год назад

      @@Bluemusic66 Funny you should say that, because John Lennon himself said he actually liked John Farnham’s version better than the Beatles original. He said at the time he wrote it was a cry for help. It was never meant to be the preppy pop song the record producers pushed them into recording. With all due respect, I don’t think he ever said that about Joe Cocker.😊

    • @Bluemusic66
      @Bluemusic66 Год назад

      @@mssuziquzi hmmm, don’t think they were pushed as much as felt obliged. And John said lots of things that contradicted previous comments, not saying this was one, but he was pretty erratic so you can take many things he said with a pinch of salt.
      And just because he didn’t say Joe cockers version was better doesn’t necessarily means he doesn’t think it was. Paul did however state how impressed he was with it.
      Either way both great covers, but just different. I think most Beatles fans wouldn’t want Help any other way than how it was recorded.
      I think the only cover that definitively surpasses the original is RATM cover of Dylan’s ‘Maggie’s Farm’. If you reckon this one flipped it on its head check that one out. But this one is definitely now my ‘favourite’ cover. Simply stunning.

    • @mssuziquzi
      @mssuziquzi Год назад +1

      @@Bluemusic66 You make some interesting points. However, I did see a Lennon documentary a while back which actually showed him sitting at the piano doing a slow version of Help. It was at the Dakota apartment just before he was assassinated. Lennon was definitely out there and did some weird stuff but I wouldn’t call him erratic for admitting to being impressed by John Farnham’s slow and emotional version of Help. By the way, I’m a huge Beatles fan and old enough to admit that I saw them live. I usually do like their original Beatles versions the best.
      I’d be interested to know if Eminem has commented on Kasey Chamber’s version of Lose Yourself.

    What an amazing example of what it might appear and sound like
    if someone were to loose themselves in the music the moment they own it, without letting it go.
    Jesus..
    She was probably the most fierce person on the damn planet for that moment she burnt into reality.
    Their is something about pouring your soul out in front of witnesses.
    The more of them noticing; the more of it flows out of you.
    I can only think of maybe Pearl Jam doing "Black" Live &
    Stevie Ray Vaughan doing Life Without You @ The Capitol Theatre
    That something really special was recorded that night, as being any other time that something much more than
    a song being played was going on.
    This drew me all the way in.
    It's almost like experiencing emotions on a collective level, that it would be impossible to go through them
    any other way.
    3 incidents in 54 years that shook my being loose from myself to witnesses the core of another ones being
    as it's spilling itself out for all who care to view.
    While my soul is witnessing this amazing moment, my body sits still with mouth open
    unsure what it should be doing, you know; like an idiot. He.. he.
    This was amazing.
    I hope others had a similar feeling, as I'm not exaggerating this sense, but underselling it
    for lack of words to explain such a thing.
    It's not 'always" a struggle trying to figure people out.
    Every once and awhile it's the most amazing instance a human might ever have in the realm of honesty
