Nice presentation Sal. I've always had a lot of respect for President J.F.K. He was a great leader!I would like to add a few comments to your article. First being that the reeded edge, all silver and gold coins have reeded edges to make it difficult to shave off the metal undetected. Second is, I think the mint did a wonderful job creating such a nice coin in the short time they had to be ready for 1964. Half dollars were supposed to be Franklin's until 1968. Maybe that explains the lack of details on the reverse. Thanks again for the show.

Hi Sal, so far I have collected 307 frosty Kennedy's, all with no unsightly bag marks. As HedgeHog said, the mint did an amazing job not only producing the coin so quickly, but turning out so many. They are a lasting heritage to a great President and should be available for centuries to come. Being the last of the 90 percenters, ensured they remained in mint condition for so long, much like many European coins which were issued before the first war and never got much of a chance to circulate.

Great vid, Sal. These 1964 Kennedy halves are one of my favs for pretty much all the reasons you mentioned. They are beautiful and embrace significant historical importance of JFK. Also for sentimentality. You gave a great description of this coin, emphasizing every detail. Your tube is filling up quickly. I def need to get more of these beauties....and perhaps start a tube of my own. Thanks for the vid.

I remembered back in the day mid 70's my sister before college worked at a deli and still were getting Silver in her tips! She would trade it for face to me....it always made my day when she landed silver or 40% Kennedy's!!! Yep still have them!😁

Hey Sal, I found this archival post. I recently got a 20-coin roll of these 1964 Kennedys. I love these Constitutional coins! I was born in 1970 so although I was gifted coin dollars and half dollars as a child, they never had any silver content. P.S. your metal intro is more brutal in this video. 🤘

The 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar was commemorated in 2014 with 50th Anniversary gold and silver Kennedy half dollars. The 2014-W pure gold Kennedy Half Dollars were minted at West Point and their size was the same as a Kennedy Half Dollar. However the pure gold version weighed 3/4 of a troy oz. Their mintage was 73,772. Also available were the 2014 Kennedy 50th Anniversary Half-Dollar 90% Silver 4 Coin Collection Sets consisting of one reverse proof half dollar from the West Point Mint, one proof half dollar from the Philadelphia Mint, one enhanced uncirculated half dollar from the San Francisco Mint and one uncirculated half dollar from the Denver Mint. The 2014 90% Silver Half Dollars Sets mintage was 221,134.

Hey Sal!! I went on a tubular journey myself! Stopped by my LCS and picked up some coins to complete a few tubes I was building. One of the tubes does hold the 1964 Kennedy AU halves!! Awesome I got the notice on this video while Spencer was looking for them! Cool indeed!!!

The 1964 Kennedy 90% Silver Half Dollars from the Philadelphia Mint are discernible because they had no mint mark. The Philadelphia mintage was 273,304,004 as compared to Denver mintage of 156,205,446.

I play the $5 table, and blackjack pays 1.5:1, so it pays $7.50, and the casinos used JFK (clad, obviously) to pay out.
Yeah, you only see the recent ones (2012 and newer) in Las Vegas.
Kennedy is know and loved all over the world. If you like to travel you can have them in your wallet as currency and don't need to pay tax. AES goes as collectibles and are taxed in most countries, due to the low nominal value in contrast to silver. I would say kennedy dollar is the best runaway money

Salivate metal. I am referring to the 1964 sms with a tear drop under the 4. I noticed all the ones that were graded were from the Philadelphia mint. Were there any from the Denver mint?

Eighty-sixth! Hi Sal. Didn't the Kennedy half come out about three months after the assassination? Not much time to get the detail you would like. This weekend an unc. half dollar contains $5.288 worth of silver. Even with all the spots and dings like that one. Take a loop with you next time! Cherry Picking unc. Kennedy Halves, you can find nice coins. I don't even know if I have a roll of 64 Kennedys. I'm gonna have to check some day. I do have a roll of 1982 silver BU Geo. Washington Halves that I can remember. *;-)* #BlueMeanies

I have a few 90% Kennedy Halves that are nice. But I happen to have two tubes of 20 1958 Franklin Halves that are described as in BU condition. What do you think might be the difference in value between The Kennedy's and the Franklins? If any at all.
1958 Franklin half dollar in MS63 is $23, the same Kennedy half is $14, which moves to $23 if it is in MS64. I like both and in reality, they are usually available for the same price.
