Sean Bro... I've inherited some VERY NICE coins. I have no one to share it with ... This 71' Kennedy has the most beautiful doubling, and the only two people who have ever touched it are my Mother and me. She's gone now and I'm beginning to see the excitement she felt when she found a really rare coin. Wish I could send you photos
Good, informative video. I did want to clarify one thing you said at 2:06: "So these new compositions are 75% copper--that's the inside core of these--and then 25% nickel." Actually, the inner core is 100% copper, with the outer layer being 75% copper and 25% nickel. 🙂
Love your content! Just bought a roll of half dollars today and was going thru it listening to this video and I swear I pulled 3, 1971 D's in amazing condition. I weighed the first one and it was 11.3 grams.
Thank you for this wonderful information. I usually roll hunt 1 or 2 bank boxes of half dollars a month. Had no clue about the thickness error. Bet I passed up a bunch of them over the years. In the box from last week I found one that had zero eyeball features Hollow socket. Looks like death warmed over. Kept in and wondering what it might be worth. Keep up the good videos. You do a very good job with them.

I just was researching this 1971 d half dollar that has error and found out that it weights the same as the 11.3 that’s in the video. Thank you my brother.
Thanks Shawn. I got two fine specimens of 1971 D Kennedy Half's, their both in low mint state, maybe higher, but their each about 2-3% off center. Wonder what they could sell for? Thats why we watch you. Thanks for sharing. Keep collecting.

I don’t, I just sent another message with my Two 1971D Kennedy half dollars in fine shape for $10,000 each then the coin person Sean or whatever his name is can sell for $13,500 each or higher, in any event he could make over $3,500 per coin= $7,000 is easy money, but if he is a con man he won’t respond, like last week & most likely not again today Jan 23, 2023 . I think your coins would be much more valuable than mine. These utube coin channels should have buyers ready to buy or at least contact. People on this site want to sell but don’t know who to contact, so why can’t you have sells, buyers, sellers offering to buy once weekly. It would help your channel be the first to offer seller, buyers a chance to buy. Joseph
Hey,Shaun, I hope your doing well in your recovery. I had bought three sets of two 197140 percenters. I'll sell two. Sets of them. Back then From that numismatic club that used to be on at 3:30 in the morning on TV. Well I got three sets of them. And they did say that they were the biggie secret. So I went for it. And now you admit it. Thanks.
Ok so if your looking for a transitional error on the kennedy, the copper nickel clad weighs around 11.34g and the 40% silver weighs around 11.44g.... So looking for these by weight is going to be super hard, am I right here? I mean would the easiest thing to do is save up several you want to check and have one of the cash for gold an silver places check it? I know theirs a gravity test but whats the best and easiest way(free) to check one to be a transitional error. I have had several of this date and traded or what not on them but I'd admit I would love to find a transitional error 1965 coin. Now the 1983 penny weight wise seems a little more straight forward to find(been checking my old bank paper coin holders with several 1981-1984 cuz I collected them that same year when I was like 5 years old in 1983, several great MS 82's and 83's in penny), but how's the best way for regular joe to check the 1965 with someone thats going to be able to tell you absolutely if its from a silver planchet...Luv the coins and the history, thanks for any real replies.... So gravity test from a good coin dealer will tell 100% for sure....?...

Howsit EJ, a Sound test will work. Take two half dollars and lightly spin them on a wood table so they make that end of the spin sound on the table. (I’m going to make a short on how to do this without damaging a coin.). A silver coin will sound completely different. Test yours with one you know is clad. If it has a higher pitch then the clad coin, it could be silver. You can also hold it between your thumb and finger right in the center of the coin, very tightly and flick it with your other hand. This is called a Ping Test. The best way to identify silver from clad coins is by how they sound. A lot of times we used to notice silver just by the sound of it jingling in pocket change. You can also look at the reeded edge. A silver coin will look all silver, while a clad coin will show copper on the rim. You can take it to a coin shop, they usually has a silver tester and can accurately let you know if it’s really silver or not. Hope that explains it man, Goodluck!
Silverhound, love your video's. I would imagine the coins struck on wrong planchets, thinner, silver, etc. would also weigh differently. The last one on this video shows 11.3G so assuming it weighs more than a normal 71 half. If true would be nice if you mention the weight difference as another sanity check., Thanks again :)

How could it be a 40% silver and be 11.3? In what are the lightweight coins worth you should do a video on that. Also if you can find out the date that it was sold that would be helpful as well

I have a 1971 D Kennedy half dollar that is double die struck on the obverse as well as the reverse. Seriously, on the obverse, each letter is double struck..In God We Trust and Liberty, also the date...on the reverse, each letter in United States of America and half dollar are double struck. I found this coin in change. It is in great shape and I imagine if it were graded, It would be demanding a premium. Could it be the rarest of the rare?
Holy crap, I just walked in to the bank this morning and they had rolls of half dollars... Never got any until today. Its someone's dump though, each roll is by year and mint.
I got $500 boxes of sorted half dollars. Are they worth anything special ? When I started looking for silver, I decided to set up a bunch of plastic cups with year dates on them. When the cups got filled, I rolled them up and filled the same boxes that came from the bank.. Now I got them burried in plastic totes out in the backyard. For the .5% interest the bank pays, it wasn’t worth taking them back. Know what I mean ?
Shoot, I’ve been getting alot of uncirculated 71 & 72 Kennedy half’s I wanted to keep them but I needed to use it I’m talking like about two rolls worth that are flawless & pristine I’m bummed now

@@bobbybenbow7252 not to be nosey but did you have any luck with selling your half dollar? The reason I ask is because I have one with a couple the imperfections that was discribed in the video any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated
10:47 weights are winners ! Weigh your coins. You could go to a coin dealer but always keep your eyes on your coins. Look in the info box on coin videos sometimes they'll show you where to buy a scale, or get them on a site called 'WISH'.
Good morning sir. I actually have a 1971 Kennedy half dollar coin “d”. This coin actually has a circle around the inside. I just don’t know why.I also have a1922 Liberty one dollar coin. What can this be worth, besides one dollar. Thanks
The 22 is probably a Peace dollar. The 22 is quit common except in higher grades. However the silver content alone makes it worth about twenty bucks. The 28 Peace dollar is the key date in the series. In MS65 condition a 28 can fetch about three hundred dollars.
Hey Shawn I have a 1971 D dd reverse have you heard of any of these? And actually as I look I believe there's dd on both front and back the coin is in pretty good shape. I just got a microscope for my laptop I'll take so pics if you're interested in looking at it.

✍۩ I’ve got something essential opt
Good day sir I have 3 kennidy half dollar I'm from philipine

Have them checked at a coin shop, but always be able to keep your coin in sight. Get a scale and weigh your coins.

Look at the edge. If it shows a grayish band you're in the $$$. If the edge is copper-colored, 50¢.
Hi Shawn,
How can I verify if I have a silver planchet, Kennedy Half? I have a 1971 D Kennedy Half that weighs 13.1 G. Are there other ways to verify before I send it out to be graded?
Do the magnet test and drop it
Ping test I find super useful

The Kennedy's shall come out of hiding today, amazing how one coin could change a person's life. Thanks for the great information❤
Any chance I can get your opinion on a 72 Kennedy half dollar?
I saved many 1971s due to my BD............ I will check tomorrow :-)
I'm sorry if I missed it but could you tell me how you can tell if a 71 is 40%
10:47 weights are winners ! Weigh your coins. You could go to a coin dealer but always keep your eyes on your coins. Look in the info box on coin videos sometimes they'll show you where to buy a scale, or get them on a site called 'WISH'.
Look in the info box here to find info on where to get stuff to be able to check out your coins.
