    When I was about 14 my step gave me his 76 TOYOTA CELICA. It was brown with stripes and we sanded it and he had it painted blue. He and my mom separated and he took the car he gave me. I would sit I. The car everyday after school dreaming of the day I could drive it. I love these cars still.

    I do love these old Celica's. Lovely shape 😊
    Paint on roof with micro blisters probably means it had moisture trapped when they laid the purple over the factory white paint. Plus how it easily lifted under the bonnet means they probably didn't prep the surface properly so it's starting to delaminate. Shame as looks like a nice colour.
    Looking forward to this old girl being saved 👍

    • @TheBuildRoom
      @TheBuildRoom  3 года назад +1

      Yep as i look at it more and more I'd say the prep work was sub par - primer has absorbed water for whatever reason and original surface wasn't prepped properly - looks like the original paint got a very light scotchbrite at best. As you say definitely a shame!

    Just saw this and am going to watch the whole series. Great memories and fantastic for you to help us all recall some nostalgia. I had a 77 RA23 coupe in yellow/lemon and was my first car. I did an auto to 5 speed conversion and retrofitted factory aircon. Made some minor engine mods - extractors, holly carb, etc but always lusted after an 18R-G. Never got done and it died an early death in the mid 90s. I often wonder what happened to it after I sold it. Have some great memories.
