It's great to see people commenting regarding the safety aspects involved in this video. Sadly in "3rd world" countries labour is cheap - because the safety of the worker is not a consideration by the law makers or companies. Often (though note likely in this case) it's because First Worlders want cheap goods, and don't take the time to think about the workers making those goods... Great restoration, btw. Have been a Zed guy since 1999 when I got my first, a 280zx. Hoping to find a good car to do an electric conversion on soon! :)
where are you from? if given a choice, we also want to get paid $ 100/hour like in the usa, that way we can buy tools that can make our work easier. where is your 280z now? is it permissible to drive a classic car in your country?
@@kiatmotor_ I'm from Australia. I think the world is sadly very much a place of "haves and have-nots" - doesn't matter where you live. Some people will be rich, and some poor. Both within the 1 country, and then within the whole world. My first 280zx was so rusty, I ended up taking everything off the frame and building a new one with a non rusty frame. Then, sadly, more rust... and a baby came along, and I couldn't afford to keep a sports car. :( I could buy a 280zx today and drive it every day if I wanted. There's no laws against it here. I expect as we move toward electric cars though that the Australian Government will bring in laws that make Zed Cars a lot harder to own / drive...
i am curious if they have whole car dipping facilties in Indonesia. seems like that would be a better way to prepare the body . also, if this was my restore, i would see if lead could be used as filler instead of bondo
As far as we know there are no car dipping facilities in Indonesia, sandblasting is also very rare here that's because our rates are not as high as in the usa or europe which can reach $100/hour while the price of equipment for automotive is very expensive
I got one of these 2 Seater Righthand Drive for sale. I owned ist for 40 years now but getting too old for it now. It's 260Z with round bumpers. No Rust, no cracks in dash, many spares, never been driven in rain and always garaged. Will ship worldwide. For details let me know.
I have so many concerns with this "full restoration". This car was in very good condition to start with, it needed minimal welding, it wasn't crashed, etc. I wish it wasnt even repainted, just paint corrected on the places where welding was done, then polished. It would be worth more in that way. If you want to full paint a car and remove all the rust, I stongly recommend sand blasting the whole chassis inside and out, because it was painful to watch all that scraping and grinding of paint. Also, I hope you took apart the whole suspension and brakes, changed the bushings, etc, not just painted it all toegether like shown in the video. I won't even start about the engine...it seemed like you didnt take it apart at all, just plated some screws and whatnot to make it look shinier. This is very much effort, but the car would be worth more if you left it as much original as you could. Thats my opinion. If you guys want to see proper restorations of 240Z, look up S30world, it's a small company focusing only on 240Zs. We restore cars to the last tiny screw to be as it left the factory.
hello dudes, we are a workshop that focuses on working on the body, not machines or suspensions and others. This car arrived not original, when we scraped the paint off we found blue paint that had been overwritten, so the owner decided to repaint this car. we are in Indonesia with a service fee unlike in the US which can reach $100/hour, so we or other workshops in Indonesia do not have sand blasting, most will use paint remover to scrape the paint but we choose to use a heat gun where do you come from?
The workers deserve all the credit, apparently the conditions in the working environment are terrible. No uniform, no shoes, no protective glasses, no hearing protection breathing dust. It gets to be sad.
I'm surprised you don't dip the bodies to remove the paint and filler from the shell; more expensive, but more thorough. Also interesting you use clear coat; I don't think the original Z cars used the clear coat process, although ultimately that is faster.
in Indonesia there are no body restoration workshops that use dyeing because here we are not paid as well as in Europe or the USA which can reach $100/hour z series doesn't use clear coat? then use what?
@@kiatmotor_ That makes sense; dipping can be expensive, particularly if labor is far cheaper than it is in the US or Europe. For that vintage of cars, I believe it's correct to use alkyd enamel, although admittedly, this takes more work than multi-stage paints like clear coat. Nice job though. I like your work.
thank you for watching, the bumper has been re-chromed but the interior has not been restored because we are only working on the body. where are you from? are there many 240z there?
Exactly my thoughts. Also it's not even that rusty unerneath, it's just light surface rust, very good condition for a 50 years old car with original deadening.
we are far below that, our calculation is per project not per hour like in the USA. for restorations with a lot of porous we usually start at $ 7000, cheap right?
Why bother using a workbench or a table when the floor is right there! Hurt my back seeing these guys bent down all the time lol. Jokes aside, turned out very nice. Just lacking basic safety measures for these guys. But hey that’s how they roll on these places. Rock on!
yes that's the reality here, our work is not appreciated like in your country which can reach $ 100 per hour. but we still prioritize quality because this is art. where are you from? are there many classic cars there?
we only do the body parts, remove all the rust, make some parts and then paint them because that's our expertise. engine and interior are not our forte, so we don't do that
Cost for this? And good vapour masks sourced in are Asia are not that expensive if bought in bulk, many good manufacturers there, where do you think 3M source there stuff!

This is a color that a few elegant pinstripes might have looked nice on.
This is a color with the original formula for its time, the colors of old cars were less saturated LOL
Yes it certainly is to be appreciated I have an 85 300 and I wish they would work on my car
where are you from? it must be very nice to open a branch workshop there
pak bersihin karatnya gimana ? pakai semprotan pasir kah ?
I drove one of these 42 years ago :)
We restore cars to the last tiny screw to be as it left the factory.
hello dudes,
we are a workshop that focuses on working on the body, not machines or suspensions and others.
This car arrived not original, when we scraped the paint off we found blue paint that had been overwritten, so the owner decided to repaint this car.
we are in Indonesia with a service fee unlike in the US which can reach $100/hour, so we or other workshops in Indonesia do not have sand blasting, most will use paint remover to scrape the paint but we choose to use a heat gun
where do you come from?
ruclips.net/video/r9r5e-ydEW8/видео.htmlsi=pahQguGrlChZqao1
So you leave out the best part the welding?
we do need to learn more about documenting the process to be complete, thanks for watching.
where are you from? is there a 240z there?
The workers deserve all the credit, apparently the conditions in the working environment are terrible. No uniform, no shoes, no protective glasses, no hearing protection breathing dust. It gets to be sad.
I see uniforms lol maybe you just blind
I'm surprised you don't dip the bodies to remove the paint and filler from the shell; more expensive, but more thorough. Also interesting you use clear coat; I don't think the original Z cars used the clear coat process, although ultimately that is faster.
in Indonesia there are no body restoration workshops that use dyeing because here we are not paid as well as in Europe or the USA which can reach $100/hour
z series doesn't use clear coat? then use what?
@@kiatmotor_ That makes sense; dipping can be expensive, particularly if labor is far cheaper than it is in the US or Europe.
For that vintage of cars, I believe it's correct to use alkyd enamel, although admittedly, this takes more work than multi-stage paints like clear coat.
Nice job though. I like your work.
Baru ngeh ternyata di Indonesia
Halo, iya betul kami workshop di Indonesia 🙂 terimakasih sudah menonton
detail, keren banget👌🏼
Terimakasih
That’s a lot of rust being painted over… Not my preferred approach. OHS seems optional there too!
should have gone all the way with new carpet and rechromed bumpers and interior fixtures. Nice car though!
thank you for watching, the bumper has been re-chromed but the interior has not been restored because we are only working on the body.
where are you from? are there many 240z there?
Perbedaan 240 260 280 Z selain beda cc mesin apakah geometry suspensi berbeda? Ter debest handling tipe yg mana infooo
good work!! how mucht to have a other datsun 240z like this in green apple color transport in france? thx
We don't really know about the price of this car in France, it's probably cheaper than Indonesia
very nice osha approved flip flops. why did they do all this work and not put new carpet in and fix the bumper?
we only do the paint and restoration
That's not paint you peeled off around the spare, that's the stock sound deadening with paint on it. Calling you out as BS @ 1:35 in.
it's a painted damper, but still it's paint. lol
Exactly my thoughts. Also it's not even that rusty unerneath, it's just light surface rust, very good condition for a 50 years old car with original deadening.
OSHA has left the chat...
Ima need y’all to rebuild my datsun 240z 😂🔥
send to us LOL, where you from?
@@kiatmotor_ Nebraska USA and let me know how much 👀
how much does restoration cost in nebraska? $100/hour?
@@kiatmotor_ I’m not sure probably around their
we are far below that, our calculation is per project not per hour like in the USA. for restorations with a lot of porous we usually start at $ 7000, cheap right?
Where are you guys based and do you sell these restored chasis ?
i am from indonesia, and you?
we don't sell restored chasis, This car is very rare here
Why bother using a workbench or a table when the floor is right there!
Mesin dan kaki2 tidak di rebuild sekalian ya?
Kita kerjakan body saja sesuai keahlian kami 😀
That's one of the most frightening things Ive ever seen, I feel sorry for those guys, hardly any protection whilst spraying, etc
I’m pretty sure EVERY OSHA inspector who watched this died of an instant heart attack. Flip flops in a work shop????? LOL
Osha fights fire in outer space now. #StarWars
I knew the safety Sally's would be going crazy in the comments 😂😂😂😂
Full restoration means everything new.
pakai gerinda sikat kawat mulai dari yg tipis sampai yg tebal untuk mempercepar proses pembersihan kerak
siap terimakasih sarannya
Amazing amount of work, but orange on the outside with red interior? Yikes! Should have gone black inside because wow do those colours clash.
yes it should be as you imagine, but we only restore the body only
Buatcivic es full kerok brp y
langsung konsultasi ke owner kami aja om, nomor ada di profil instagram
Why put that old red interior back in?
we only do the body parts, remove all the rust, make some parts and then paint them because that's our expertise. engine and interior are not our forte, so we don't do that
How much does such work cost me? Please reply because I own a Datsun 73 240 z
which is definitely much cheaper than the repair shop in your country
Cost?
Only thing wrong with the car is that the steering is on the wrong side and that non-shinny paint woulda buffed out fine.
You should move the steering wheel to the correct side.
Correct side? Do you mean left side?
Ha Ha
It's a Japanese car, the steering is on the correct side.
My mechanics.
berapa biaya restorasi ini? kerja bagus
biaya restorasi tergantung kondisi mobil, mini cooper dan motor mini milikmu sangat keren
All that work and they put the old carpet and interior back in?
We only do body restoration and repaint, the interior will be done by another workshop
I like
thank you sir,
where you from?
All that work and no re-dye on the carpet and vinyl?!
we only do painting and restoration, we don't do interior and other parts
where you come from?
"Break the Paint"? Isn't that the painted Sound Deadening???
Please, whats the name of the very first song?
Butch,… Butch,… Butch. I guess you make the best with what you have.
Now you know why it is called bengkel in Bahasa.
5:45 there's something to be said about respirators. 🤯🤦♂️
I wonder what it cost to restore the whole car like that?
maybe $10.000 ,surely it's cheaper than where you are?
where you from?
@@kiatmotor_ Iceland
@@gnarlin4964 So glad this video reached Iceland, are there many 240z there?
@@kiatmotor_ Not many, no.
Cost for this?
And good vapour masks sourced in are Asia are not that expensive if bought in bulk, many good manufacturers there, where do you think 3M source there stuff!
