Amen. They've been doing the Allman Betts family revival for a few years now and I hope it always continues. It's always a blast. Esp at the Beacon.. Luther Dickinson has been like the secret sauce on Gtr for the tours he's so great. And Duane sounds and looks just like Dickie. Having Tal on bass this year was such a great surprise. Her playing was perfect and I really hope they bring her back next year. The only other Allmans tribute that I'm praying happens again was the Allman 50th anniversary show at MSG the night before the world closed down for the pandemic. Seeing Derek, Warren, Oteil, Chuck Leavell, and the rest was such a phenomenal show. It's a shame that everything closed down the following day cause in a way that show wasn't given the props it deserved it was so great. I also love that TTB often throws in Allman brothers songs at their concerts. That's always magical. Here's to a 55th anniversary show with either the same lineup again at MSG or with some of the other players from Allman brothers history like Jimmy Herring, Jack Pearson, and perhaps Luther Dickinson too seeing how incredible he plays the Allman Canon of classic songs. Definitely some of the best shows of my life too. It's hard to Pick a favorite cause I loved seeing Dickie and Warren playing together as well as Allen Woody on Bass. Those tours were sick. And I remember seeing Derek numerous times sitting in when he was just 13/14. After they had that falling out with Dickie it was a bummer as well as Allen Woody passing away. But in some ways it revitalized them having Derek and Warren together along with Oteil on Bass.
The keyboardist for this show was NOT Chuck Leavell, it’s John Ginty. Leavell was a special guest on some tour dates but not here. Both are equal legends (just a generation apart) and anyone interested will be rewarded by searching each and learning more about the great bands and songs they’ve contributed to.
There’s a fine documentary on Chuck called ‘The Tree Man.’ He’s been a part of so much great music and this film touches on a lot of it. It’s on RUclips I believe
Yes! She's also has/had a nice curly maple Jazz (if memory serves) that she played with Jeff & Vinnie live at Ronnie Scotts. You know it - I can tell! I fell in love when I first saw the DVD of that concert. Not with her bass, but with her! And that smile at Jeff after her amazing solo...(I know you've seen it, too!) BTW, I don't see many Fender Showman amps around. Are they still in production? I once had a 200 Watt Fender BXR bass amp. Single 15" I loaned it to a friend & told him never to bring it back, or I'd throw it the lake nearby! Word! ;-)
Man did that ever bring back some memories! It is great that this music is still being played. I love it. Lots of grey-haired dudes like me in the audience.😁 And from one Aussie to another well done Tal.
The title had me so focused on her I didn’t even notice the video background that’s pretty hard to miss. As a guitar guy I gotta admit I would’ve been focused on the six stringers. She is Amazing and bass players don’t get anything close to enough Love. What a performance! Goood Lord!!!!!! “Jammin her ass off” Thanks for sharing. Awesome.
During one the The Beacon runs Oteil saw 17 y.o. Tal playing at a NYC jazz club. A few days later he takes Derek with him to check her out, a few weeks later Oteil is sitting on the side of the Beacon stage with a big smile on his face watching Tal playing Elizabeth Reed with The Allman Brothers Band.
From the Allman Betts webpage: "There are showstoppers and then there’s Tal Wilkenfeld, who has literally stopped the music world in its tracks on more than one occasion. One of the first times was in 2006 at a memorable 40-minute sit-in performance with the Allman Brothers at New York’s Beacon Theater, in which a 19-year-old Tal was given the stage to perform a 5 minute bass solo during “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.” It was part of the audition tape-along with her debut solo album, Transformation-that she sent to Jeff Beck, leading to her next seismic moment: joining Beck for his 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival, where we see the guitar legend bowing down to Tal while she plays a solo on “Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers” that went viral and made Tal a global phenomenon. "
I saw ABB on Mother's Day 1994 at the Aladdin Theater in Vegas. The place was barely half full. Gregg told everyone to come down and pack it in up close. They then shredded a 3 hour show playing everything you want to hear (except Mountain Jam). Dicky was on fire, Warren Haynes on guitars, Jaimoe and Butch Trucks kept the train rollin' and it was freakin' amazing. Last summer, I was blessed enough to make it to Macon, GA, to the Rose Hill Cemetery to pay my respects to the ABB graves of Duane and Berry (and Gregg and Butch) - it was getting dark and a summer rain came out of nowhere - it was a trip, especially with my 11 and 15 year old kids with me! We then went to the Big House but it was closed. We then went to where Duane was killed and paid respects. One of my favorite bands of all time - long live the ABB!!!!!
She was great but I did feel she overplayer around 6 minute mark where guitar was soloing. They should have created space for her to do a solo instead or exchanged phrases with the guitar.
Tal is amazing! I knew it when I saw her with Jeff Beck at the 2007 Crossroads Festival and the Ronnie Scott’s show. They couldn’t have found a better fit for these shows.
So cool that the keyboard played the original solo! I wouldn't have minded if he went off afterwards. Just watching Tal while he played it brings tears of joy. So honest in the music. Is that Derek on acoustic? That's almost a waste LOL but someone had to do it!
Saw them, plus a few other "Allman Kids" and Chuck in Macon a few months ago. They were doing their dad's proud...and Chuck appeared to be having a blast... I mean even one of the drummers is Roy Orbison's spawn! They come near you, go see them hell, go hear them! Oh yeah, almost forgot, Tal just about took out Chuck with her base when he entered stage left and walked across the stage behind her and she turned... old guy moves well...
Growing up w gregg and duane and Dickie, this is nice to see but for me, a little generic and the tempo is too slow, the notes are spot on but the stylistic expression is missing. Love that the "Family" is keeping it alive but something is missing. BTW, love seeing Tal again, been watching her since the first time Jeff had her onstage. amazing lady!
Curious how she spurns the lead guitar players (almost no interaction at all) and plays against the piano player twice...true, he's near, but there's no communication or recognition of Tal by the lead guitar players...the rhythm player does acknowledge her. Nevertheless, she grooves her ass off.
She’s an Aussie, it’s in the rules. And if you listen you can hear what her and the Pianist really are playing, and how they are reactive to each other. During the lead guitar break she is constantly keeping a solid reference to the key melody of the song. She plays all the unison parts beautifully. Anyhoo the lead guitarist doesn’t reference her either……,,What’s Ya Problem?
I've watched several videos from this tour series. From what I've seen, she is happy to interact with anyone who will look outside of their 'bubble' and engage with her. For the most part, the other members of the band don't make much effort to engage with each other, let alone Tal. Fine musicians, but as far as stage presence goes, they're largely shoe-gazers.
Well, ya know, when you rocked with Jeff Beck mere mortals are probably just not that interesting to play with. She's the best musician on this stage. 😉
They don’t need to “ interact” visually. Except for the viewers entertainment really. They are “listening” to each other and having a musical conversation that the average fan doesn’t necessarily catch. Don’t confuse showmanship and musicianship. If you ever watch a jazz group they aren’t trying to “ visually engage “ other players but rather, listen to them and playing off of or against what they are hearing played. That’s what “Jamming” is, a musical conversation.
Well the rhythm guitar player is Greg Allman’s son and the Lead guitar is Dickey Bett’s son, so it’s more revival than random dudes playing a tribute to ABB songs. And when Tal is not playing, Oakley’s son plays bass.
I would have named my girl after this song, four boys later, closed up shop. No Jessica Renee................11 grand kids still no Jessica. Oh well...............
Well at this point Gregg and the band aren’t in a position to come back and argue with you so why not just enjoy other folks interpretations of ABB music? Easy, eh?
Tal is a superb bassist, she was brilliant with the late Jeff Beck
Jeff Beck always was accompanied by brilliant female bassists - after Tal Wilkenfeld came Rhonda Smith.
SHE got FIRED by JEFF !
May the Allman Brothers Band's music live forever - classic and timeless... Some of the best live shows of my life.
Amen. They've been doing the Allman Betts family revival for a few years now and I hope it always continues. It's always a blast. Esp at the Beacon.. is AllmanB fusion band?

Used to find the Sea Level albums in the cut out bins. Great stuff!
She is so good, she fits in with whoever she plays with !!!! What a talented lady !!!!
Aussie, can’t go rong. 🙄
one of the best!!
Tal is one of my favorite bassists!! and she really shines in this video!!
Have always loved this song, it is a timeless classic. Thank you for posting !
My favorite Allman Brothers song with my favorite bass player 😊
completely agree!
I've many favorites. But this performance was phenomenal! Brothers and Sisters here!!
Tal Wilkenfeld! Wow!!! She is the boss of the groove. Great band and great sound. Very cool.
"Jessica" is one of my favourite songs of southern rock. Tal did her job very well. Like the others did.
You can't deny her as one of the best bassist ever!!❤🎉
Tal Is great and I can't believe how good that Fender Showman amp and P bass sound.
Yes! She's also has/had a nice curly maple Jazz (if memory serves) that she played with Jeff & Vinnie live at Ronnie Scotts. You know it - I can tell! I’ve seen this band live numerous times and this is by far the best musical performance I have seen from them.
She’s absolutely brilliant !
A southern rock and roll classic! Two drummers, when one is just not enough. I am so smitten by this woman!!! Love HER!!!!
Love this revival! Great music! 🎵
Man did that ever bring back some memories! It is great that this music is still being played. I love it. Lots of grey-haired dudes like me in the audience.😁 And from one Aussie to another well done Tal.

Thanks for sharing.
Awesome.
In Memory of Berry Oakley...
I remember the day he died…And Duane 12 months later not he same stretch of road…
Duane died first.
Woww thank you for this! Who'd ever thought, Tal and Allman?? And out comes an unforgettable jam!
That is one ramblin magnificent 'major mode' upbeat extravaganza, loved Tal's bass it fitted right on in, made it all steam along on them rails.
During one the The Beacon runs Oteil saw 17 y.o. Tal playing at a NYC jazz club. It is difficult to differentiate bass unless you are govt mules bass.
Damn, she's just magnificent!
Marvellous band and Family Just great great 🎉glad to see and listen this MUSIC. ❤
Tal is the only one who shows any animation. She outclasses them all.
There can only be one Tal. There will only be one Tal Wilkenfeld.
She's channeling the spirit of Berry Oakley fer sure !! Love it !!
Tal, one of the best ❤

Been seeing her branch out a lot after Jeff's passing. I think she will find a happy home in the hearts of the 'jam' band community.
Tal Wilkenfeld in her happy place. Finding her groove in the middle of it all.❤
I've said it before, beauty and the bass😊
Excellent! Tal did not over play and was just great!
Yes!!
Those keys are just slaying!!!
I love that she is a 4-stringer. A real bass player.
I read/heard she started as a guitarist, but someone needed a bassist for something and she did the work. Then it got stuck.
Très très belle version d’une de mes chanson préférée, bel hommage à Dickey et aux Allman !
Tal is so damn good. I love seeing her as much as possible always a treat.
Amazing band, amazing song, amazing THUNDER-FINGERS !
Brings back great memories of the original Allman Brothers at The Fillmore. Had the priviledge of seeing them Twice with Duane, RIP.
Did that bass fall apart after this performance? Because that bassist TORE IT UP!
Timeless masterpiece.
Haven't seen anything new from Cal for too long. My favourite Bassist amongst a very competitive field.
She did play with Jeff Beck. She is awesome.
Fantastic
She’s one of the best😍
I have to say this IS my favorite ABB song, but they never played it when I saw them in concert!
IF I didn't know better, I would swear I was listening to the ABB!
The piano player? Hell that’s the guy who PLAYED on the original song! That’s legendary pianist Chuck Leavell.
John Ginty. Chuck is just over 70 now, John is quite a bit younger.
Nice Tal Love ya always 😘
So cool that the keyboard played the original solo! I wouldn't have minded if he went off afterwards. Just watching Tal while he played it brings tears of joy. So honest in the music. Is that Derek on acoustic? That's almost a waste LOL but someone had to do it!
this is how to play bass ... chapeu, Tal !!!!
Too good.
Damn, That was great.
from father to son, just great
Gotta love Tal,really in her element 🙂
Sounds great
Great pocket and playing great bass in service to the song.
She is Jaco in a women’s body. Tai is unbelievable good.
She is Tal bing Tal .a phenomenal bass player
Love Tal.
I know this a standard but she's playing like shes been in the band forever ❤
Is that THE gold top that Duane is playing?
The Duane Betts band ?
That's Tal, of course, not Cal. Don't know where that came from! Pity they didn't give her a spotlit riff of her own. Who's better than her?
Awesome
Saw them, plus a few other "Allman Kids" and Chuck in Macon a few months ago. They were doing their dad's proud...and Chuck appeared to be having a blast...
I mean even one of the drummers is Roy Orbison's spawn! They come near you, go see them hell, go hear them!
Oh yeah, almost forgot, Tal just about took out Chuck with her base when he entered stage left and walked across the stage behind her and she turned... old guy moves well...
Just like the original AWESOME !
Tal is the Jam fo sho 😊😊😊
That bass line, though!
Wish I was a bass guitar so I could be held that close by Tal………….
Duane Betts looks and sounds so much like Dickey. He is truly his father's son.
I agree with you on too slow. Maybe they had to so the guitar players could get it LOL
Tal's got Berry's licks down PLUS! How does she do it? She wasn't even born before he died!
Believe Lamar played on Jessica.
Yes, Lamar played on Jessica. 😅
Your from Germany?
Yes and starting listen to the ABB in 1969.
Would love to see her and Derek Trucks together ❤️
Why isn't Berry Oakley Jr. playing bass?
Just here for Tal.... you other guys are OK too! Well done!
No smiles for Tal...grumpy guys.
I don`t have the best hearing but I don`t very often hear the bass guitar of bands. One exception is ZZ Top.
since when did bronson start playing drums?
Nice cover band.
Curious how she spurns the lead guitar players (almost no interaction at all) and plays against the piano player twice...true, he's near, but there's no communication or recognition of Tal by the lead guitar players...the rhythm player does acknowledge her. Nevertheless, she grooves her ass off.

None of them are really interacting with each other . Not sure how she spurs them. There all kinda just doing their own thing but together
They don’t need to “ interact” visually. Except for the viewers entertainment really.
They are “listening” to each other and having a musical conversation that the average fan doesn’t necessarily catch.
Don’t confuse showmanship and musicianship.

Is that Duane's Gold Top?
I think, it was a tittle theme from some programme! Don't remember what, exactly!
top gear
It was used as the title theme for the news discussion show, "The Huntley Brinkley Report" back in the mid 1970's
I’m sure Dickie would cringe at the solo lead parts. Almost got parts of it 😢. Tal is exceptional at her art, one of the best I have ever heard!
Allman bassists would cringe too
Did she play with Jeff Beck?
She did!
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie…….go Tal.
Ohhhh that LES PAUL!!!
greatgreatgreat
Mooi wévie ook
Should have given her a solo
Isn't she something!
Loved her show with Jeff Beck "Live at Ronnie Scotts"
So "revival" is the new term for a tribute act.
I did name my fourth child Jessica after this song.
They are playing too slow
Naja geht so ,der Drive fehlt und vorallem Gregg Allmann.
This sounds lifeless compared to the ABB. It's like they're just going through the motions.
Well at this point Gregg and the band aren’t in a position to come back and argue with you so why not just enjoy other folks interpretations of ABB music? Easy, eh?
Let’s here your version
How do you know she's loving it, did you ask her?
This bassist just doesn't have that funky blue grass Allman's groove.
Stop trying to ride the gravy train and put out your own vibe and music
This slower tempo turns me off.
Lack of groove is the biggest tun off for me.
Too big of a bass player for that little band
