It’s funny to hear you say, “Downwind 80’ to 100’ isn’t a problem.” Maybe in your world but in the ‘Land of the Lost’ this is definitely a problem. lol I’ve been fly fishing less than a year and definitely improving but in my world, on my 3wt Redington, 25’ to 45’ is a good cast. 5wt Redington anything over 60’ is a MONSTER CAST! I recently picked up a 6wt TFO Pro lll and not sure what to expect from it but so far I love it. Fly fishing is a lot like golf. Those who don’t hit a 300 yard drive long for distance. Those who don’t have the finesse around the green long for that feeling. Yes, we want it all, but such is life. Eventually we learn to utilize what we have. 🤞🏻 I love your videos! Fun to watch, easy to understand and you come across as very sincere. What more can you ask for. Thanks so much, Wes
@@wschield608 you know. There’s a video on the RUclips of a vintage fly casting guru. His name is Jim Greene, google that name with fly casting. If you follow his instructions, YOU will bomb casts!!! It’s like the “Ben Hogan: five lessons/secrets” golf book. You follow it to a tee and watch the transformation begin. Note: pay particular attention to when he talks about the wrist flick on the forward cast. Absolutely THE best explanation there is! Keep er tight, Milan
Hey Milan, I’d stay and chat but I’ve got some Googling to do. Hahaha! Thanks for sharing, Wes P.S. you are only the second person in my 71 years with the name Milan. Paul Milan Tosi, my good friend and magician, was the other. Since typing this earlier I’ve watched the video, gone to the lake and videoed a few casts. I do one every couple of months to see what I’m doing right and what needs pitched. Even this latest one, after watching, I’m thinking, “Slow down! It’s not a race.” Fortunately I didn’t have any fish interrupt my practice. 🤷🏻♂️
Good info on the shorter leader and opening up your loop. I will definitely try that out. I hadn't fished heavy streamers much just because of the issues you discussed.
Simply the best, most common sense. Effective how to cast video ever. Your videos make the "pros" on other channels look silly. You keep it up I can't watch enough. #1 here you come.
Thank you for the kind words. I sincerely appreciate it and it really helps fuel my desire to keep making videos. I wish you the very best of luck on the water this weekend!
Dead cat!!! Hahahah! Looks like one for sure. It’s a Kelly Galloup pattern called the Barely Legal. I put weight in mine as well as a cone head so it gets down faster. That marabou is like a parachute haha! Anyways, I hope you give it a go. When i started practicing with actual streamers, my casting became accurate and much better overnight! Keep er’ tight!
@greenhornflyhorn i dont think i would be able to get that pattern here in NZ. But next week the boy and me will be swinging flies in the Pyrenees so i will look out for something similar in the tackle shops there.
@@multilecful keep forgetting you’re down there. Those browns are massive down there, I bet they would just crush huge streamers. Well, best of luck this weekend!
ima haul me some carp with these new found skillz!
You’re already a carp master, leave some for us mere mortals!!

I can relate as I was there before. Give it a shot, I bet you will be surprised how well it works. I know I was. Thank you for watching.

This is great! I always have a hard time casting streamers, gonna work on this. Thanks!
I hope you do! Definitely will get you slinging streamers farther and with accuracy! Good luck out there!
Great video on casting streamers, other videos of watched left a lot of questions, this answers those for me , thanks
Hey there! Glad it helped you out. I hope you go sling some big flies and get into some lunkers! Keep er’ tight!
Looks like we need to pause a half second just before the foreword cast for the “D” method, just like any other cast. Correct?
I don’t get it. Your videos are awesome. Why aren’t people crushing the like button?! Please keep it up!!
Man…..thanks for this comment. I’m just going to keep truckin and if people watch….all the better! Tight lines👊
Excellent, ive never tried swinging what appears to be a dead cat before, but i will give it a go. My streamers are quite a bit smaller than yours😢
