    I've purchased the 2022 outback wilderness in white, what a beast! Traded my 2019 forester sport in.... night and day between the two.. loved my forester sport but this outback wilderness is worlds apart

    I purchased the 2021 Touring XT in March as one of my must haves was Ventilated seats living in a desert Climate and this was the only trim with that option. 8,000 miles so far and I couldn’t be happier with the car .. I have even learnt to cope with the CVT fake shifts when making progress by switching to Manual mode. The infotainment system can sometimes be a bit laggy. I use voice controls to adjust the HVAC settings and love the STARLINK remote start with aircon controls to cool / heat the vehicle . The 2.4 L turbo engine is a must for driving pleasure IMHO..

    • @alexpmo
      @alexpmo  2 года назад

      I agree, with you on a lot of those points. The turbo is a must have once you've experienced it 😃

      Thanks for the feedback on the ventilated seats. I live in Houston and they would be put to use daily.

      What’s so great about the turbo? Is it only really beneficial for off roading?

    • @mervstone17
      @mervstone17 2 года назад

      @@seandalt well using the paddle shifters and manual mode I’ve timed a 0-60 at 5.7 seconds .. it’s fun to have that level of performance from a car that’s not expected to do that ! Overtaking too is a breeze even on inclines .. so both a practical car and sporty drive too if you want . Something for everyone ! I hardly go off road but when I do it’s great to have the capability

    • @SuburbanBBQ

    My 2022 Onyx arrived just before Christmas (Merry Christmas to me) and going in today to the dealer to get questions answered on stuff either I can't figure out or am too lazy to look up in the NYC phone book that comes with the car. It is something my dealership offers a couple weeks into ownership. Miss my old Chrysler 300M I drove everyday for 22.5 years, but very happy so far with my Outback. Really nice job on your videos.

    As someone who will likely be purchasing a Subaru in the next 12 months, I would be very interested in a video that talks about specifics of the extended warranty plans and the service plans. Specifically talking about what each one covers and a price (I know prices may vary). And even touching on what parts (if any) the extended warranty overlaps, or adds to the factory warranty. Love your videos, wish I could buy one from you!

    Nice vid, thanks! I love love loooove my '22 Outback Limited X/T! My advice to prospective purchasers is, check your finances before you test drive the turbo lol - you WILL want it! Not that the regular engine is bad by any means (my '13 Premium with the 2.5L was just fine), but the 2.4L turbo is just too much fun. This thing gets up and goes way faster than any station wagon has a right to lol. And the '22 is quieter, and the headlights that turn with the steering wheel are just awesome.

    I have a 2018 Outback Touring trim that I absolutely love. Last year, I drove 8800 miles from California to Maine and back and my Outback behaved beautifully. I also take my Outback camping every year. I camp where there are bear issues, so my coolers stay in the back of the car. When I’m in my campsite,, I like to leave the tailgate open for easy access. However, I really can’t because the when the tailgate is open, the car draws power for the power lift gate and other features. It would be really great if I could turn that off so I don’t draw down the battery. I had to have my Outback jump-started the first year I had it.

    • @db8556
      @db8556 Год назад +2

      Hey there Janice, I have a 2016 Premium, which has required a handful of jumps from dead. The two things I've done are:
      1. change all the interior light bulbs to LEDs, which use a tiny fraction of power compared to the regular bulbs, plus are MUCH brighter/whiter. win/win
      2. change the factory battery to a higher capacity battery. Do a search. As for me, I installed a Costco/Interstate 24-700 (Group size 24, 700 amps). I was told a Group Size 24 wouldn't fit but it fits just fine in the factory battery tray since the tray is larger than the factory battery. It doubled the amps of the puny factory battery (~356 amps). My Outback starts with more authority, especially at the ski resort. There are probably other choices. win/win
      3. I've read you can insert a carabiner into the tailgate latch mechanism when it's open, fooling it into thinking it's shut. I haven't tried this, but plenty of owners say it works great. Just remember to remove it before closing the gate!
      4. Always carry cables! 🙂

    I have an 18 Crosstrek limited. I’m eyeing the OBW but what annoys me is you can’t get the HK sound system in it like I have in my Crosstrek. I guess they think if your out in the wilderness you should be enjoying nature and not your playlist. The HK system is decent but not great however it far better than Subarus base stereo the OBW comes with.
    Nothing like dropping another grand or two on a brand new car to upgrade the stereo to what it should be

After watching your video I am even more excited about the Outback. BTW, there is/was nothing wrong with either of my Subaru's. The Ascent was to be my spouse's vehicle and my spouse passed away 3 days after we took delivery. I totally agree that the Onyx XT is the sweet spot in the lineup because there aren't any 'gotta have it' features offered in the trims above it, which makes it the best value in the outback lineup, in my opinion. I've been cross shopping the Forester Wilderness and the Outback Onyx XT for a while, leaning toward the Forester because of its compact footprint and excellent capability. However, given the fantastic 2.4 turbo engine and the relatively modest $3000 price premium over the Forster Wilderness, the Onyx XT keeps calling me.

      Hey Carol! So the Onyx and the Wilderness are the only trim levels currently that have the full size spare. I think it's because these are the two more off-road style Outbacks and Subaru probably expects you'll have a greater chance of needing a full size spare.

      Hi Ron, as far as I know, the Outback is only produced at the North American plant. If you're curious, you can check the inside of the door jam and it will show you where it was produced. Should say SIA which is in Lafayette, IN. The Onyx doesn't come with nav or the extended driver's seat. mileage monitor will be located in the center between the speedometer and tachometer. It does however have nav capabilities through Apple CarPlay/Android auto. Here's a video I made recently on this: ruclips.net/video/ttI9GVh5gow/видео.html

    Every trim level gets dead batteries and cracking windshields. Subaru came out with these features in 2013. And since then they have added the Eyesight system to drive you nuts and more recently they added a bigger screen where you have to scroll through menus to do basic things that used to only require the touch of a button. Why did they wait so long to come out with these features?

    Would you say the turbo is worth it? I’m thinking about trading my 2020 Tacoma for an onyx. Need a more practical family vehicle. I just would hate to give up my v6 for a flat 4. I would really like the turbo. Just a lot more money

    Recent subscriber! Love the vids!
    I am a little confused on this vid.. i just purchased an Outback Premier (Canada, getting this week), and it has almost every feature (Napa leather, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, upgraded speakers, etc.).
    This vehicle was coming into the dealership, and to order another would take months. Only thing I would have preferred would be the turbocharged engine.
    Are the trim levels different in Canada?

    • @alexpmo
      @alexpmo  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for subscribing! Yes, the trim levels are different. From what I can tell, the have them same features but they call them different trim levels. The premier trim is actually the touring trim here in the us

    Does the onyx have anything other than the 2.5 turbo engine that justifies the additional towing capacity? I'm asking because I'd like to use a motorcycle hitch carrier to tow my 259 lb dirt bike on a 2022 outback premium. That's well within the premium's 2700 lb towing capacity, but would be slightly above the 270lb tongue weight rating when combined with the 40 lb weight of the hitch carrier itself. Thanks for any additional info

    Hey, Alex (and other Onyx owners). Do you know anything about this?
    I have a '21 Onyx Edition and the owner's manual says that if you have a full sized spare (which the Onyx does), then you should incorporate it into a tire rotation (5-tire rotation). My dealership refused to do this on my first free oil change. They tried charging me $100 to do it. They said that to do this, you have to reprogram the BCU each time, which costs them $ to do since they need to hook up a laptop, upload the BCU's data, and reprogram the tire sensors. Not reprogramming the BCU will cause the TPMS light to stay on at all times (or keep coming on if cleared) and the reprogramming is due to the spare tire having a "temporary" TPMS sensor in it (which I've never heard of).
    Before the Texas winter storms hit last winter, I got a nail in one of my tires and had to swap to the spare because (it turned out) the dealership couldn't get me a new tire until the storm passed. (They kept closing early and then shut down completely during the storm, which is somehow ironic to me for a Subaru dealership... this was even before the power grid issues). Yes, I had the TPMS light come on after the swap, but I was able to use a $99 OBD scanner (Bluedriver) tool to reset the TPMS system and it then worked fine for an entire week and a half until I got the tire replaced.
    So, any idea if my dealership is full of BS? The car manual says to do a 5 tire rotation and I seem to easily be able to reset the TPMS system in about 10 minutes max. Why are they trying to charge me $100?
    (I argued with them about it and they eventually did it for free alongside my free maintenance, but it was "[that] time only.")
    I'm planning to just rotate my own tires now and have them do the free maintenance, but specifically tell them not to touch the tires. I just feel like $100 just to pull a tire out of the trunk is ridiculous because I don't believe the whole reprogramming claim or the "temporary" sensor claim.

    Everything is going to Turbo in the last five years.
    As a previous auto mechanic, turbos and superchargers are the worst thing you can put on your engines . Because they make everything go twice as hard and therefore it doesn’t last as long a long life as you didn’t have a turbo.

    Has anyone gone from owning a Crosstrek to an Outback XT? I was just wondering if someone could give me an insight into this decision. The 2024 Crosstrek has no turbo, and I am finding the Crosstrek is a little lacking on the cargo room (no surprise hindsight 20/20).
    My Crosstrek I have now is my first Subaru and I do enjoy it, just did not know if someone could shed some light?

      The Touring trim has a softer leather than the Limited. You can also opt for the Onyx or Wilderness trim on the Outback that has a soft material called startex (looks and feels like leather) but it’s a water repellent material made out of recycled materials.

      Yes, once I get another one in. At the moment we don't have any 2019 Outbacks. It's fairly similar to the 2020 and newer models. One of the biggest differences is that the 2020 and new Outbacks have the 11.6" touch screen display, while anything before this has the smaller touch screen display.
