Here in Denmark, we are fortunate; in many cases, we can buy on credit without any fees or interest. So you only pay the actual cost of the product. It's pretty smart.
det har vi også her i Tyskland! (Dansk er så svårt, min kæreste er dansk og det er omøjligt at tale). I did that with my Canon Eos R and 100mm 2.8 lens a few years ago. It didn’t suit me so well, because it is still technically debt. after I had paid those off I decided that I won’t do it ever again. It isn’t the dumbest thing either - if you don’t begin to buy like 50 items at the same time. 👍👍👍
@@ultrasharpfilms well I think _someone_ just released a video about how to do videos without a £40k camera. My nifty little ZV-E1 works juuuuust great with your LUT, next time I promise I will do more than just slap the LUT on the footage. And instead of the modern Sony lenses whip the Helios and Canon FD 24mm out. Appreciate, thanks!
You are on the right track, my friend. After a bankruptcy, I learned how NOT to use credit. I bought my Mini 4 Pro on my credit card to gain points and then paid it off in full. I use my credit cards for almost everything, and then pay them off every month. I get 2% cash back and/or flight miles so now my credit cards and banks are paying me!
I think that’s the only way to use credit card. I learned it the hard way - not bankruptcy hard - but nevertheless paying some pretty hefty amount of interest. And the CC companies are sneaky. If you are reaching the limit of the card they just pump it up a bit and send you a nice little note that we made it a bit easier for you to reach your dreams :) I am happy to hear that you look at it that way, I’ve heard that some people do the bankruptcy and they doesn’t change their behaviour at all. Seems like you really have turned the boat around! All the best! 👍👍👍
Gear Acquisition Syndrome is terrible. I used to suffer from it - he who has the most toys when he dies wins. But you still die. So I am in your camp this time Leo!
Someone finally speaking the truth. Many of the large camera channels are brand ambassadors, and basically no more than sales people for new products. The master of that is Apple. Some people will buy a new phone every year that is only marginally better than the prior phone. They came out with a Mac mini using the M4 chip add an attractive price. I compared it to my M1 pro MacBook, and the things I care about utilize graphics power the new M4 mini at its base model. It’s not as fast as my M1 pro to get more performance. I would have to upgrade to the M4 pro that’s only marginally faster than what I already have. The things I will invest in I keep lenses and monitors I just traded in my camera body. It was from 2012. I have a mini 4 , air 3 and mavic pro. They are for my side business. Am I upgrading them? No. They do the job.
@@ThePNWRiderWA thank you so much! Funny thing, I was considering upgrading my Computer at some point. I have an M1 Mini base model with 16Gb of 2021 I think and there has been M2/3/4/PRO/MAX but as the M1 mini still can handle the 4K Video without any hiccups, why bother. I don’t have anything against camera youtubers making money making reviews and I am sure they have some problems making those reviews and especially adressing negatives when you are paid to do the review and/or get the product in exchange. Some do disclose these matters very clearly and some are just prolonged ads with some vlog elements around the ad. And of course that’s how the marketing works, the embargo is lifted and the race begins who is the first to hype the new product and to be honest, I have fallen into that trap too. I just think that debt is such a burden that as a hobbyist it is not worth it. All the best and thanks for your point of view! 👍👍
This applies to everything for sure ☝
unless… ;)
