You can see the influence on Queens Of The Stone Age from the stoner rock scene of the late 90s, just going off and jamming and vibing in the middle of the song!
Woow this just randomly came across my feed and noticed it was reading 2005! I was there man at this show, first festival ever at 18! What a weird crazy memory!
I always recommend live versions, to really get the feel for a band, however, the album version of this song has SO much going on despite sounding so simple and it's astounding.... I STILL hear new things and I've heard it countless times... One of the great rock songs IMO
Disagree for first time listening, if You already known the studio versión "Aka the original piece" it's ok to see live recordings, but otherwise it can loose a lost of the meaning and context of a song, specially with low Quality recordings or bad acoustic venues like these one
Fucking love the Queens. Great voice, great playing, great lyrics and amazing energy. ...Like Clockwork and Villains are their best work imo, the lyrics in Villains are great. Josh Homme had a cancer diagnosis in 22 and I think it really shows in their last album, both in tone and quality. Yesterday they canceled their Europe tour so Josh could have emergency surgery so we're all wishing him the best. Them Crooked Vultures is crazy good too, if you like Qotsa you'll like them.
You might want to check out the studio version, or the live version from 2002, both of which feature Dave Grohl. The drum part he came up with for this song is phenomenal, but for some reason the drummer in this video is playing a simplified version of it.
FYI - This song was from Queens of the Stone Age's 3rd album 'Songs for the deaf' in 2002, which featured Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters/ Nirvana) on drums... Grohl also did their 2002 tour before returning to Foo Fighters. Josh Homme (vocals & guitar) may be a pr!ck offstage but he's a talented MF - that 'stoner Elvis' image suits him well... He formed Queens of the Stone Age in the 90's after the breakup of his previous band Kyuss in 1996 (The members went on to form other projects) QOTSA released their indie self-titled debut album in 1998 and Homme's former Kyuss bandmate Nick Oliveri (bass) joined the band... they were signed to a major label in 2000 and released their 2nd album 'Rated R'... It sold well but the big success came in 2002 w/ the 3rd album 'Songs for the deaf' (recorded w/ Dave Grohl on drums and late Screaming Trees vocalist Mark Lanegan) which sold gold in the US (half million copies) w/ the singles - 'No one knows' ... 'Go with the flow'. After some internal drama which resulted in bassist Nick Oliveri being fired by 2004, Josh Homme returned w/ QOTSA's 4th album 'Lullabies to paralyze' in 2005... followed by 'Era vulgaris' in 2007. Subsequent albums 'Like Clockwork' (2013) and 'Villains' (2017) did well for QOTSA... but Homme's personal problems also made headlines w/ a divorce and custody battle w/ ex-wife Brody Dalle of the punk rock band The Distillers... and numerous assault charges made against Homme. QOTSA's latest album 'In times new Roman...' was released in 2023.
Thats why i hate when reactors do live shows, usually they get the one with most views or most recent without searching a good perfirmance, specially for first time listening, specially with older bands thst are past their prime like Metallica, their songs live olays even at a different key than original, and a Lot of love records have poor Quality mixing
If you are judging off the video alone that isn't a fair assesment, recordings of concerts will never sound accurate to what's being played due to how much the audio has to be compressed in order to be heard properly without being peaky af
Great song, great performance - but not a clip I would show to someone as a first-time introduction to that song. Live versions - esp. if the vary quite a lot from the studio version, and the recording quality is not great like in this clip - usually work best when the fans know that song in and out already IMO.
In the official videoclip You should recognize who the drummer of Queens Of Stone Age was. Waiting for Your answer Rachel. And like You so much. Hope one day You visit Hungary.
Their drummer must've had some mad sugar/narcotics that day because this is WAY up tempo than the recorded version lmao. Before the days when in-ears & click tracks became the norm.
I thought that was pretty common actually. I'm pretty sure that was the tempo Josh wanted it played at if that's what it was played at. It's clearly always been his band over anyone else
On the note of a Pit... Don't fear the pit. At big-headliner shows, maybe. With a lot of posers throwing elbows... idiots. Pantera shows had a lot of these fools. In general though? Metalheads are the most loveable huggable bastards you'll ever meet. Nine times out of ten, someone goes down in a pit? Everyone nearby body-blocks and helps you back up quick, with laughter and hugs. I know how contradictory that sounds... but that's the vibe. Walk away bruised, but with no bad intentions, and maybe make some friends along the way. I personally think having an outlet as aggressive as metal allows the fans to better channel their feelings, and makes them kinder in general. Healthy, even. Metalheads are great.
Please react to Sunburn - Fuel - Live on Hey Hey It's Saturday 1999 It's a song that has so much importance to me, and Brett Scallions was the best post-grunge vocalist in my opinion.
Great that youre giving QOTSA a go but there are better sounding live stuff, you just happened to get a less good one. Try official videos first but be aware that they have a wide range of sound n vibe! Their first 2 albums is very different from the 3 following ones and after that they course corrected again to their current style, but it always sounds Qotsa/Homme. He/they are all about their art, either you "get" them or you dont.
you've picked wrong video. drum track to this song is written by Dave Grohl. ant there are videos from life show with Dave on drums. these are much more interesting ;)
The lead singer is abusive. His ex's band totally fucking rules though. You should check out The Distillers if you haven't heard them before. I recommend watching the video for their song Drain The Blood.
as far as we know at this point this is totally untrue and she seems to be abusive? don't wanna get too far into celebrity personal lives but where are you getting this special info?
Yep, i hate when reactors do love shows cause they usually (or their followers) search the most random low Quality live show, specially for first time listening
Not the best live version cuz the mixing ain’t great but still QOTSA is one of the best live bands ever especially at festivals, in 2024 they’re legit the best festival band in the world. Josh homme the lead singer/songwriter is one of the best musicians of his era, a true fuckin legend. If you react to another QOTSA song you absolutely have to react to “I appear missing” live, the live version of that is their magnum opus, Dave grohl played drums for that song on the album too, just like he played drums for the album no one knows, grohl used to be in QOTSA and he’s in another band with Josh called them crooked vultures along with John Paul jones of Led Zeppelin. Anywa QOTSA is legendary and definitely react to “I appear missing” live next time you do QOTSA it’ll blow your mind, the live version is significantly better than the album version which is stellar too but live version like 2 mins longer and has a bunch of extra glorious guitar work
OMG yes! Queens of the Stone Age are amazing! you really should do a deep dive into their stuff. Pretty much everything is great.
You can see the influence on Queens Of The Stone Age from the stoner rock scene of the late 90s, just going off and jamming and vibing in the middle of the song!

Best band ever!
Seen 4 times they are amazing live always leave with the biggest smile on my face
Keep on with queens of the stone age reactions they are one of the best rock bands in the game

Like clockwork fuckin rules, she’s gotta react to the live version of I appear missing next time she does qotsa, that’s their magnum opus
There is a live version of this song with only bass and guitar (I think it is for a radio station) but it is excellent and I love the way it sounds.
Queen of the stone age live is such a vibe saw them 2008 when they played at Annexet, Stockholm, Sweden warm up was Biffy Clyro who also was amazing.
i had the chance to be at a live concert of queens of the stoneage, last year here near me, and they played this song aswell! was awesome
You might want to check out the studio version, or the live version from 2002, both of which feature Dave Grohl. The drum part he came up with for this song is phenomenal, but for some reason the drummer in this video is playing a simplified version of it.
Yeeees!!!
My favorite band. I hope you check out more of their stuff. ( Everything is great)
Best Band❤ long live Josh Homme
They always come here to Chicago every year.
And once again they're coming this October, I'll think about you then.
I Appear Missing live in Paris from 2013 is a must by Queens
Concerning babies! You are absolutely right!😊
Amazing band
Should definitely check out more QOTSA! So many bangers!
And with a beast on the drums Joey Fckn Castillo!
Oh so that's where they took Bilbo..to a queen of the stone age concert...nice👍
I recommend the music video to watch. It's pretty funny and you'll notice a famous drummer in the saddle.
Recommend doing a trial listen of them.
When Reading/Leeds was a rock fest, and not a smartphone in sight. A lost era

QOTSA's latest album 'In times new Roman...' was released in 2023.
The reaction to the video for this song is very funny.
more from this band
pls🙏
Check out their song go with the flow. Another awesome song
They could jam at the shire!
Josh in The Desert Sessions vibe. Nice.
Gotta do more QOTSA!!!❤❤
Whoever was mixing this did a terrible job. The bass was drowning out the guitars the whole time except when it wasn't playing at all.
Thats why i hate when reactors do live shows, usually they get the one with most views or most recent without searching a good perfirmance, specially for first time listening, specially with older bands thst are past their prime like Metallica, their songs live olays even at a different key than original, and a Lot of love records have poor Quality mixing

Yeah, he’s got a great tone.
I saw them live with Rob zombie and they were awesome
Great reaction, as always! 2:19 no, you're not crazy. that guy does look a lot like Ian Holm/ Bilbo Baggins.
The guy in the crowd looks like Flea out of the RHCP's
When she paused it on him that's what I thought she was going to say Lol 😄
Mexicola would be a great Qotsa song to react to. Live at Hove 07 or From the basement are the best live versions
Great song, great performance - but not a clip I would show to someone as a first-time introduction to that song. Live versions - esp. if the vary quite a lot from the studio version, and the recording quality is not great like in this clip - usually work best when the fans know that song in and out already IMO.
Great video! Where the hell is MIKE PATTON on this channel!?
In the official videoclip You should recognize who the drummer of Queens Of Stone Age was. Waiting for Your answer Rachel. And like You so much. Hope one day You visit Hungary.
Haha yes bilbo jamming out to his fave band lmao 😂😂😂
Reaction to The Mars Volta 'starlight ballroom' should be on your radar
You gotta check out the Go With the Flow video clip, for the least subtle imagery ever.
It certainly is an ... interesting video.
Their drummer must've had some mad sugar/narcotics that day because this is WAY up tempo than the recorded version lmao. Before the days when in-ears & click tracks became the norm.
Joey played everything fast. Guy is a maniac.
Tbh i hate when banda do it, it's always sounds sloppy when they "accelerate" the pace of a song in live shows
I thought that was pretty common actually. I'm pretty sure that was the tempo Josh wanted it played at if that's what it was played at. It's clearly always been his band over anyone else

MORE QOTSAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
'Feal Good Hot of the Summe'r next please
Please react to Sunburn - Fuel - Live on Hey Hey It's Saturday 1999
It's a song that has so much importance to me, and Brett Scallions was the best post-grunge vocalist in my opinion.
Era Vulgaris, like clockwork and villains next! They got Elton John for some of ...like clockwork
They cranked the tempo for the live version. Studio is a bit groovier as it’s slowed down.
I do know that song
Great that youre giving QOTSA a go but there are better sounding live stuff, you just happened to get a less good one.

My best channel
Bilbo ❤’s Ginger Elvis
I think you mean Martin Freeman! lol... but I got it.
React ( DISSECTION - MAHA KALI ) VERY GOOD BLACK METAL SONG...
7:08 is that Avril Lavigne ?!?
Album versions are always better
I think the fact that he’s hitting these notes and sweating is something. Soad nowadays just has the audience sing for them
Looks like Bilbo himself...
you're pretty
Im not sure who recommended this exact performance, they have so many better ones. This one is also off tempo, played much faster.
Dave Grohl calls QOTSA the best band going today. Hard to say he is wrong. Not to many bands can play like Josh & the lads.
smeagol
Wow this is a really bad live version. Honestly I've never checked out their live versions but this really sucks. The studio version though is sick!
it's a good performance but a pretty bad mix
you've picked wrong video. drum track to this song is written by Dave Grohl. ant there are videos from life show with Dave on drums. these are much more interesting ;)

Brody's a liar.
Was this recorded by the bass player's mom? Good grief the mix is terrible. 😉
Yep, i hate when reactors do love shows cause they usually (or their followers) search the most random low Quality live show, specially for first time listening
The only song I ever heard of them... for 2 decades now...
Sounds like you've got about 8 albums to dig into
@@PerfectlyCromulentHandle I guess I do
Not the best recommendation for qotsa...
Was there music? I only heard an annoying crowd screaming, but barely any music especially not what makes this music great...
Not the best live version cuz the mixing ain’t great but still QOTSA is one of the best live bands ever especially at festivals, in 2024 they’re legit the best festival band in the world.
