    I’ve been watching a couple of your vids lately. Your video and production are getting better. This box joint box looks great! I especially liked the handle inlay. Among many other things I make keepsake boxes as well. I use the golden ratio to size them, give it a try,
    I also watched the vid about the $35 off cuts box you bought from bell forest products. Its contents were expect…..only a few large pieces that could be resawn for more material. The wax covered wood was very likely ebony. Collect as much of that as you can. Makes great accents in all kinds of projects.

    I love watching more women woodworking, or the younger generation. I saw all the dewalt tools and thought this was going to be a good video until I saw a festool and I stopped the video but I restarted it and was pleased that she had and used a dewalt sander. She made a nice box but the exotic woods and the expensive finish is too much. Good video.

    I don't trust the angle gauges other than initial setup. I then cut one miter on the left side of the blade and the other on the right side of the blade. This way the angles compliment each other and you have a really nice 90 even if your blade angle is off a little. I also use stop blocks to ensure both front and back and the sides are all exactly the same length. You can get close by eyeballing it but not as accurate if you use stop blocks. Nice box.

    • @woodworkingwithSkyler
      @woodworkingwithSkyler  Год назад +2

      That’s correct. I normally do splines on boxes but I thought if I add them to this box the design will be too busy. The box was for my daughter, birthday and made it just to put an iPhone and her favorite candies in it as a gift. It’s sitting on her desk holding candies, I think it should be plenty strong for that. If it fails, I can always fix it:)

    Woodworker to woodworker, I have one minor comment. I’d really like to see you masked up for sanding. Lung protection is as important as ear and eye.
