I wish that Prince got more credit as a guitarist, he was so fucking good man.
He was a good guitarist but he was a better songwriter
He's not as good as people say he is! Overrated
@@christopherrelyea349 agreed
- Mark Knopfler
- Mike Oldfield
- Buckethead
- John Frusciante
Not Buckethead and Mike Oldfield
Mark Knopfler is a god
And I would add Mark knoffler and the hugely underated Rory Gallagher. Listen to what Gallaghers peers said about him. Brian May says Rory "gave" him his sound which was a hallmark of Queen. I urge you to seek out Rory's guitar playing on RUclips. "Laundromat" live at Montreux would make a good introduction
Dimebag Darrell
Stop snorting drain cleaner@@KenzoPWNZ
Mark Knopfler is always forgotten
Rory Gallagher aswell
Nuno Bettencourt too
Steve Howe
That's because he is greater than this list
Steve Lukather,Steve Hackett,Steve Vai so many more to lists over the years history
Great job including Alex Lifeson on the list. He's really underrated
Which is the song that accompanied Alex Lifeson

Why nobody knows Gary Moore? By the way, great that George Harrison made the list, very underappreciated as a guitar player

SRV #18? That’s an insult
Great list but I'd switch 3 & 4.
That is an AWESOME list!!!
Duane Allman needs to be waaaay higher up this list!!!! I would put him in the same class as Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. When you show Duane Allman you have the song Ramblin Man playing which was recorded after he died and played by Dickie Betts...
Glad someone else recognized that. If Duane had lived past age 24, I say he would have become the greatest electric guitarist of all time.
Agree I like him
Exactly
Dickie Betts should be on the list
Was going to mention that gaffe. Obviously it is Bett's countyish sound while Allman was much more bluesy.
Length of career, albums, live performances, blues, rock, Accustic, great songs, songwriting, influence on others, shine amongst others, selling more than others, JIMMY PAGE, head and shoulders above every one else.
No Steve Vai or Prince?😱
..and Frank Zappa
Frusciante
Where is the Angus Young ??
brooo
Australia! 🤣
😭
No Mark Knopfler, but Harrison. Richards, and Townsend ???
George Harrison and Keith Richards are much better than mark knopfler especially Keith
@@CalebthegiganticMariofankeith richards is so overrated
In no particular order of rank:
EVH, SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, May, Knopfler, Blackmore, Satriani, Vai, Eric Johnson, Page, Jeff Beck, Alex Lifeson, Gilmour, Randy Rhodes, Dimebag Darrell, Johnny Greenwood, Paul Gilbert, Tom Scholz, and John Petrucci.
Love the list!
Hate to be that guy but the sound clip for Duane Allman was actually Dickey Betts, that song was recorded after Duane had already passed away.
I was so happy to see David Gilmour in the top five... And yeah, I know people love Hendrix. But I don't think he should have been #1.
Alvin Lee
Not putting prince in the entire list is a joke smh 🙄
Truly. The disrespect is unreal.
A good list. I think you have to include SRV in the top 5 but still a really good list. I would also think Mark Knopler and Neil Young should be in that list too but a good job 👍
SRV is definitely underrated by many. Seems like they only pop on pride and joy and don’t hear anything else.. maybe that’s just my opinion though… For me he’s always been up with Hendrix and EVH
Stevie should be in the top 3 easily and Bonamassa should be on this list as well..
Another list, another opinion is all. I love that we rage on about our passion for this art. I aspire to play half as good as all of the for mentioned. Et al great artiest’!
I still say all greatest list start with a shout out to earliest influences, without which we wouldn’t have any modern greats!
To me ,most Clapton stuff is not that difficult to play but it works very well in the songs and is soulful. That also makes a good guitarist.
Where is Gary Moore?
Very subjective list but I love almost all these players.
there isnt a way to objectively rank them bruh
From Australia , such a shame to see the GREAT ALVIN LEE so under cherished these days ! Peace from down under
Putting Brian May 12th is shocking easily top 10 ffs lol
I personally feel Lindsey Buckinghams guitar work Is overlooked.
What about Steve Howe of YES ?
Or Jerry Garcia ?
Or Dicky Betts ?
It is nice to see Alex from RUSH getting some love for his guitar work.
5. Synester Gates (Avenged Sevenfold)
4. Nita Strauss
3. Kirk Hammett (Metallica)
2. Nancy Wilson (Heart)
1. Jimmy Page (Zeppelin)
Literally more than half of the original yardbirds are in the top 6
So happy to see Alex Lifeson on this list
Very good list but Ritchie Blackmore should be way higher
prince not being on the list is wild
U could say that he does it all u mite aswell be neverending list of good or great guitarists 🎸 just know one will know it's fun and opinion of who u like etc we live in on Planet Earth our World 🌎🌍 is classy just hundreds and thousands applying it u could add Elvis or David Bowie they play abit not bad.Elliot Easton Cars,Steve Clark Def Lep,Vernon Reid Living Colour debate live on.Say that about Drummers,Bass Players and Vocalists, genre all around the World 🌎🌍 specially 50s -80s class and competition in Music

I've never understood why Glen Campbell is never mentioned when talking of the greatest guitarists. I sincerely believe that Glen Campbell deserves to be in the top 10 at the very least.
Go out and listen to him play. I'm positive, you'll be inclined to agree with me.
1 Gilmour
Ngl i mostly agree BUT i woulda put EVH at the 1 and Jimi at the two with Santana at the 3. I love Santana too much having at him at 20 is disrespectful, he's on par with if not better than Chuck Berry. My opinion of course
Before Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Jeff Beck, and any above musicians, There was GRADY MARTIN a guitar "Wizard" The only guitarist to back Hank Williams, Elvis, and Buddy Holly... greatly admired by his contemporaries such as Chet Atkins...he backed so many greats: Roy Orbison, Marty Robins, Johnny Horton, Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee, Willie Nelson, Joan Baez, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, and Jerry Reed. In the pantheon of Guitar Greats his genius still remains in the shadows....and probably always will. (P.S. He invented the "Fuzz Sound.")
Rhoads seems to be a really hard name to spell right for a lot of people.
Almost spit out my lunch😂 I like to troll my brother when we talk eagles and add a “d” to Don Henley’s name just to piss him off.
John Mayer is so criminally underrated it’s not even funny. Bro can play a guitar like Sins can work an occupation
I’m John Mayer big fan. But he is top 100 for sure.
After reading the comments I'm shock that not 1 mention of Terry Kath or Chicago.Even Hendrix said he was the Best.Check out Tanglewood 1970 25 or 6 to 4
someone asked jimmy hendrix what it was like being the best gutarist in the world he said i dont know you better ask rory gallagher and dont forget about johnny winter
where is Mark Knopfler
You could come up with 1000 different lists from a 1000 different people. Any list is subjective and open to personal choice. But I think nearly everyone would question Richards ( Ronnie Woods is a better choice ) Harrison and Townsend over Gallagher, Morse or Buchanan. 😎👍
I appreciate Duane Allman being on the list, but the accompanying guitar work is actually Dickey Betts playing.
Should have played the slide guitar solo on Layla for Allman
@@BoredOuttaMySkullBoi Thank u 🙏. I feel like because a lot of people know that Layla is a Clapton, Clapton was the one who originally recorded the solo. But it was Allman and the solo is fire 🔥.
Buck Dharma is really the most underrated guitarist ever. Really sad he is not shown here.
The "critics" always disliked BOC. They didn't like the "sci fi" references in their music. Buck is phenomenal in concert, plus a great singer. He is and always has been the heart and soul of BOC.
And he’s still touring every summer with BOC at local fairs and you can take the whole family because its cheap.
Impossible to say who are the top 20 greatest guitarists! it's all a matter of opinion, but my top 5 are.... David Gilmour..... Jeff Beck..... Gary Moore..... Jimmy Page..... Richie Blackmore.
This is definitely not a list based on skill it's more based on what a lot of these guys participated in cuz if this was based on skill and rock guitar you'd have way different names than this
Alright, there is an abundant lack of Mark Knopfler
PAUL KOSSOFF, PETER GREEN,ANGUS YOUNG,MARK KNOPFLER,HANK MARVIN,CHET ATKINS,SCOTTY MOORE,DJANGO REINDHART,GARY MOORE,RORY GALLAGHER, BRIAN JONES ETC ETC, WHICH MUPPET DID THIS LIST.
1. Jimi Hendrix
2, Eric Clapton
3. Johnny winter
4. Eddie Van Halen
5. Stevie Ray Vaughn
The Windmill!
No Satriani, Vai or Fripp!?!
So sad that Prince gets no love here. He was truly underrated.
Slash!
Jon Uli Roth would make my list, with Ted Nugent, Glen Buxton, Mark Reale, Donald "Buck" Dharma, Mick Ronson, Gary Richwrath, Jake E Lee.
That wasn't Keith Richard playing that solo. It was Mick Taylor.
What about jonh frusciante, he did something really amazing on Californication and stadium arcadium álbuns
I agree with your No 1 Jimi Hendrix.what about Jeff Beck? He was always put up as the best guitarists. No 2 on my list is Keith Richards.
this would be the top 20 most popular guitarist
Yeah, some of the guys on my mind aren't nearly as well known, but how can anyone make an unbiased list?
Only PC to always have Hendrix on top. Good-Great yes, but the best technically and creatively- maybe not. And where is Tommy Emmanuel probable the greatest of all
I thought Eddie would be #1 but Jimi def deserves the spot . I’m ok with Eddie being a respectable second place
Alvin Lee ten years After
robert fripp is one of the best, he isnt just the guitarist of king crimson but also has a good solo career and was main guitarist on vdggs best album he also was on heros and other bowie records and on peter gabriels first 3 albums also on fear of music
can you do redo the video but with The Rock reaction
Bryan May better than Randy Rhoads?
@BoomX Games that's exactly what I'm saying.
its not in order
Not even close!
1. Eddie Van Halen
2. Stevie Ray Vaughan
3. Eric Clapton
4. Jimmy Page
5. Jimi Hendrix
wher is gary moore ?
Good list BUT (always a but) move Jeff Beck to number one, and expand your list to 30 adding: Rory Gallagher, Frank Marino, Johnny Winter, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Roy Buchanan, Dickie Betts (the music you placed for Duane Allman, was actually Betts playing) Peter Greene and the incomparable Derek Trucks (best electric guitarist in the world, right now).
You read my mind in all areas brother.
The top 3 for me is:
1- Brian May
2- Slash
3- Jimi Hendrix
🔥🔥🔥
Slash is my favourite guitarist but I’d wouldn’t put him and Brian in this top.
@@romanpears8442 definitely not in terms of technical ability
Rory Gallagher? Francis Rossi? Angus Young? Ace Frehley? Al di Meola? John McLaughlin? Paco de Lucia? Carlos Santana? Alvin Lee? Just a few of MY Top 20s.😃
David Gilmour is my favorite but one guy that always seems to be missing from this list is Roy Clark! If you've ever seen him play Malaguena on the old comedy show The odd couple you know what I mean!! I actually think he's faster than Eddie Van Halen. When he plays Malaguena you can't even see his right hand!!!
Jimi27 allways nom1,just 3 years in industry but he really GOAT,if he still with us,lot of skill v plug🙏🙏🙏

Jimi Hendrix .
I love Brian May

Prince should be on top 3 The most underrated guitar player 😢
You need to dig a little deeper because you forgot 3 amazingly fantastic guitarists: Jerry Reed, Roy Clark, Chet Atkins.
You ask 20 different people to make a list of 10 best guitarist, you'll get 20 different list.
Not having the edge or John frusciante is disappointing
No it's not, they are both highly overrated. Nothing they do is special, not to my ears, and I can't stand either of those bands.
Steve Howe
I don't get why so many best lists don't include Robin Trower. Dude could shred with the best of 'em.
Brian Jones was a better player at 19 than Keef is now ..... and I believe Rory Gallagher should also be on that list along with Steve Marriott
No Dimebag?
1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Jimmy page
3. Eddie Van Halen
#1 is Tim Reynolds - DMB Live performance of “Lie in Our Graves” is the greatest guitar solo ever.
Also, John Frusciante is easily top 20. Without him there wouldn’t be any RHCP. Listen to the Live Performance of “Don’t Forget Me” by the RHCP at Slaine Castle. Frusciante poured his guts out when he wrote the lyrics and on that stage.
My opinion would be significantly different.
What about John Mclaughlin?
There is NO way Eddie should be 2nd!!! The man build a guitar that never existed to get the sound that not only he wanted but later was emulated across the music world.... Eddie made the guitar talk unlike Jimmy.... No disrespect to Jimmy, but Eddie took it to the next level...
Jimmy is the best man
@@josehinojosa7458 Jimmy was good, but was he a better guitarist than Eddie? speaking from a decade ago me. "I can pick up a guitar and learn a Jimmy Hendrix song in days if I don't know it. If I want to learn a Van Halen song, then I have a load of challenges ahead."
Yeah he should be lower
@@RockG.o.d Exactly! That should tell you something.. Eddie designed and build a brand new never before seen guitar and was a self taught guitar player as well. I'm not taking anything away from Jimmy, but in my opinion Eddie was better.
@@speedbuggy7240 I completely agree. Eddie was a way better guitarist, and tbh a better artist musically. But if it wasn't for Jimmy, then I probably wouldn't have got a wah pedal.
Don't forget dire straits or Mick mars
Where is Steve Vai??? 😂 Dude's out of his mind
For people in the comments. It is important to evaluate not only the technique but the songwriting skills and impact on music.
Jimi once said that Rory Gallagher was the best. Said the same about Billy Gibbons too.
What about RORGALLAGHER ?
Brian may for me on 1 please
What makes a guitarist great is one’s composition of music, and by comparing their catalogue of music Page is miles apart from the rest, with Richards a probable second.
Number on Richie Blackmoor
