The triumphant return! I would love to see more Helix vids! I've been trying to figure out if I can run a hybrid setup between the HX Stomp and my DAW/VSTs, but the routing has been a bit confusing Not a fan of how disproportionate the screen is to the body, but the XL does mean you could hook up an expression pedal without taking up all the TRS slots. And the volume knob is GENIUS, the HX Stomp goes from 9:00 to 2:00 if you so much as sneeze wrong 😂
Dude i love Line 6,Digitech,Korg Tone works,Boss,Rocktron,Yamaha,Roland,Avid Eleven R,TC electronics,ART,Electro Harmonics,MXR,Cry Baby wahs you name it i got it Vox tone lab SE,LE the whole gang of it all.
I haven't really used much Line6 gear since I sold my POD, but I did like it and it convinced me to spend more money on newer modeling gear. That side mention about creating new "amps" and not just replicating analog gear - yes. I've had that same thought many times. What matters isn't if it emulates a 5150 perfectly, but if it sounds interesting and good.
I use Line 6 Helix straight into my recording setup in my home studio, and live straight into the PA. My tone is derived from running 2 amps in stereo; left is Engl Meteor (which I call _Engleballs Rippage_ ) & right is Line 6 Badonk (aka by me _BadonkaGonk_ ) with 30% pan on left & right in stereo, then hard panned LR on the house board. Dude. The TONE. My approach is a bit like yours in that I treat my Helix as if I have a twin amp setup with a rack of sick pedals. IDGAF about anything but getting the tone I hear in my head, and the Helix delivers it, night after night.
@2:38 I was just bitching about this exact thing. Everything is a clone of a clone. Line 6 is the only one out there making original amps. All these modeler companies could easily add new and original amps.
Love Line 6 and the original amp models. “Insane” always been one of my favorites if controlled. Currently learning how to use a Helix for live use. Crazy memory, I was actually in GC Hollywood in 2004 buying a POD xt Live (upgrading from a Flextone II) when the news came out to everyone that Dime had passed. Store went quiet as everyone was stunned. Now that Yamaha owns both Line 6 and Ampeg maybe they can put a VH emulation in the next firmware? A man can only hope.
Sounds great and going to be ordering one. Glad it has the Swedish Chainsaw Death Metal guitar tone that I love. Which took me a while to get right for my Boss Katana MK 2 50 watt combo. I will be using the Line 6 for my Engl Fireball half stack.
The guitar you are using in this video looks like one of the newer Jackson Pro + series guitars..if so I bought a new one last month in the Metallic Black and I love it..I did swap out the tuning keys because 2 of the Jackson branded ones weren't working right..and I put a bigger 34mm brass block on it from the original 32mm..but it sounds and plays amazing ! I like your video here..I might have to try one of these newer Line 6 effects setups since I have gotten a more capable better home computer now..I could never get the Line 6 Pod Go software and extra features to work with my older computer..maybe now's the time .I will say this that Line 6 had at least less than 2 years ago awesome over the telephone tech support..they tried everything to get my Pod go to work with my desktop computer with work-a-rounds etc..
I've got a lot of Line 6. A Variax, a Pod HD, couple different heads, and old kidney bean. I don't do anything as saturated as you, generally, and find em good for other genres. That's the best metal tone I've heard from one I think.
The pod go was my first old man dive into digital modelling, and it was awesome but I got option paralysis....so I sold it and got the BOSS ir-2..... Which is great and simple for an idiot like me.
I like to run mine into monitors for stereo, but I do want to try running it into a power amp. I wonder if a dedicated power amp is much different than the effects loop return of my Mark V 25? Oh, and this video reminds me, I really need to get some right angle cables to go into the stomp lol
When I have my HX Stomp I used to go straight into my studio monitors like u and loved it. Also tried it through an fx loop and through my power amp and a power amp sounds better for some reason.
PV vitriol. Xxl cab and mesa v30. + tube screamer & compressor. Only flaw is can’t make a decent clean snapshot. So have to make a separate patch. It’s not bad live you can’t notice but at home you can hear the patch change. 10/10. Sounds good in a mix, full band. Sounds artificial next to my guitarist quad cortex. Overall a great piece of gear. Tips: mess with the master volume in the amp setting and use the gate that’s built in without using a block for a gate or use both for some extra djent stoppage. 🤘
Could you make a video of how you are split signal? How do you send the signal without cabinet emulation to the real cabinet and how do you send the signal with emulation to your PC or FOH?
i just got the pod hd 500x i love it. i run it through the power amp in on my kay into my boss 212 cab and bro those cabs are super nice speakers sound great with it. i got the metal pack and tbh the big bottom is my fav 5150 is my least fav
I wonder if part of the Line 6 amps appeal is you have no expectations for them. If you know something is modeling a Recto or a 5150 you probably have a sound in your head.
I love when you use the JB pickup for you demos since I'm not fond of EMGs. I've been considering a Helix for a while now. Unfortunatelly, I would need to get a Helix Rack, my chain is probably too complex for that.
Dyna comp > Ts9 > PV Vitrol > Xxl cab & v30 > Delay > 10 band eq. Set the PV like you would on the tube head. Volume 3.5. Adjust the eq and raise the master to taste. Rockstomp footswitch > Arch clean amp, some delay and reverb 👍
What's wrong with you? Those built in IRs are HIDEOUS !!! They sound like something Radio Shack would have coughed up while seriously sick ! Those IRs would cause me to RUN LIKE HELL to my 2 Notes Torpedo for inline IRs ! Those Line 6 IRs are far beyond unusable. Even my cat left the room when you were using the Line Sic IRs ! I think it just coughed a hairball up out of its ear.

I’ve always loved the badonk, it rips and plus it saves DSP, can’t get any better…
now you've said it saves DSP - I'll give it a go
Yeah it’s a classic!
@@TaylorDanleydefinitely
And the fun thing is that it also cleans up nice so you have a DSP saving all rounder

really love the line 6 more than the Boss digital products !

Why 30% pan on the helix if then on the board it will be hard panned ?

Boss GT-1000 has original amps; some are also in the Katana. They did it by idealized types of amps, clean, chime, crunch, high-gain.
Oblivion is such a great amp. One of my favs since the update for sure 💪
It’s nasty!!
Line 6 makes some pretty great gear. Keep up the great work buddy.
Pod Go is all you need.

It’s one of the newer American virtuoso Jacksons, and I love it! Glad you’re enjoying yours, they’re great guitars

I’ve had the stomp for about 2 yrs now and I probably only use about 10% of what it can do…cuz like you, I’m an idiot too🫤
I love using the Helix Native plugin, a Helix without any DSP limitations. Unlimited power!
im happy with my HX stomp - but I'll be upgrading to the LT hopefully this year.
💪💪💪
@@TaylorDanley im using an overdrive, EQ and reverb through my boss katana 212 amp - its getting me by. (some good bass stuff too)
"something in the neck...." :D

Idk why Line 6 gets so much hate. They make the best amps money can buy.
Infinitely better than the s****y peavey bandit I had when I was a kid.
You misspelled Boss 😊

Not enough DSP to have another clean amp on there that you can switch on and off with snapshots?
Could you make a video of how you are split signal? How do you send the signal without cabinet emulation to the real cabinet and how do you send the signal with emulation to your PC or FOH?
To go to a real cab go from output(mono) to power amp then to cab. To go to PC you’d have to go into your audio interface.

Recently got a Stomp XL, if you could show your settings that would be cool
Sounds good I thought about getting this or the boss gx100 still kicking that idea around
0:56, give it to me then 😂
Phewwww that Jackson is so damn sick. Love the blonde patch in the ebony. That guitar suits you.
I need to update my Helix, I wanna give the Oblivion a go! Currently using the Badonk for my death metal tone.
Man I still have my POD 2.0! I really like line 6 stuff! Cool video !
Thanks! I still have mine as well. For some reason I have a hard time parting with any of my line 6 gear
Hope you can demo the new pod express soon that'd be great
Crazy money these days. Still use my Zoom GFX8 and it's amazing.
Can you set the stomp XL up like first channel clean and crunch then Rhythm then lead ?
Hey man that is awesome . Your tones rules .. may you tell me what strings and tuning you have here ?
Those REVV amps are some of the best modeled amps ever. Line 6 killed it on those two.
Hey Taylor, ive always been curious about krank amps. Do they sound similar to other amps out there?
need a link to get those kick *ss tones! just received my hx stomp!
is there a Bugera amp in there?
I wonder if part of the Line 6 amps appeal is you have no expectations for them. If you know something is modeling a Recto or a 5150 you probably have a sound in your head.
That’s a good point. But also, maybe that’s part of the problem with digital gear and even plugins for that matter. 🤷♂️
I wish crate still made amps
Me too! Best solid state amps out there
@@jesseparrish9198 crazy how you never see them anymore, pawnshops or anything
İ dunno why i miss my x3 live even it has bad amp simulation :( do you guys suggest pod go ?
As someone who has gigged with the POD GO and uses it as the primary source of my sound. Yes, I would reccomend it wholeheartedly.
Please send me the Line 6 PodGo. I will adore it on your behalf. ❤
is XLR out a MUST for MultiEffects ?
No
ah ok.. thanks man
You can use the mono line out into a direct box or straight into an audio interface.
The HX stuff sounds better than the spider stuff huh?
Insane Chanel...!!! ❤❤😂
I miss your shoot-out videos
I can taste the digital
A Maxon st9+ would kill all the flub that helix makes
I share the same frustration that pretty much all digital stuff is emulation and not innovation or unique stuff.
I regret selling my Spider IV. I sold it to get a Boss Katana and I can honestly say the Spider was way better.
I find that you need the katana app to really make the amp come to life. So many patches to choose from.
ooooooohhhhhhhhhhh
The built in cab was awful compared to the real thing.
comparing any two recording setups will often make one sound awful if they're very different as these two were ngl
No Stereo... 😢
is there left and right out

Get some stones from outside for tripod
Dyna comp > Ts9 > PV Vitrol > Xxl cab & v30 > Delay > 10 band eq.
Set the PV like you would on the tube head. Volume 3.5. Adjust the eq and raise the master to taste.
Rockstomp footswitch >
Arch clean amp, some delay and reverb 👍
My advice.... try to eliminate the adverb/adjctve "SUPER" from your vocabulary.
I dont know, Line6 stuff just sounds kind of "farty" to me.
really heavy tones

All HM-2 tones sound like 💩
I really like the 2204 MOD…but I’m a classic rock hair metal kinda guy…don’t judge 🫤
