      I've put a lot of mileage on my Stomp, and definitely, if you're using it as a standalone unit, IR's are the way to go. Even better, if you have a power amp and guitar cabinet to use like Ola did here. It is hands down the best deal for an amp/multieffects/IR loader unit. It's my whole rig now. Only thing I added recently was a Digitech Freqout so it feels and reactive like a real amp also (with tasteful feedback, etc.), but I use only use that as a one trick pony when I play leads. I've also played out once doing a hybrid system with the stomp, my 5150, and 4 cable method. That was an awesome time.

      The price of HX Stomp just does not cut for it. It says it has one of the two CPUs of Helix Floor/LT processors but it is only limited to 6 blocks which is a big shame.
      Helix LT can support up to 32 blocks if there is enough DSP power. Therefore, HX Stomp should support up to 16 blocks. It seems HX Stomp will support up to 8 blocks with a new update. Really, I am so excited (irony). Line 6 is ridiculous now. Also Boss GT1000 Core is much better than this rusty tin.

    Came back to watch this much later. I've had my HX Stomp for about a year now, and I'm not looking back. I have it as my whole rig now. If it tells you anything, I'm typically a straight into amp, riding guitar volume knob kinda guy, and once I figured it out (making the noise gate the lightest setting), my stomp is all I play now. After getting good IR's, it sounds and reacts just like a real amp. Only other thing I did is add the Digitech Freqout for leads to get that tasteful feedback/sustainer thing, but that's few and far between. It kicks rear. I also played out once with my 5150 stack and this, doing the four cable method (I accidentally left my pedalboard at home!), and it was one of the most satisfying times playing out ever. Hands down, the best value in digital guitar gear.

    Low-key triggered by the sound of a cab into a cab, but it sounded so damn good after you figured that out

    • @JorisGriffioen
      @JorisGriffioen 4 года назад +5

      Line 6 should really make that a global thing. In the Kemper you can lock the cab to off or even keep it on for mains and off to the monitor output.
      They do a lot of UI things way better but having to manage the outputs per preset is really stupid.

    • @MarcoMontero
      @MarcoMontero 4 года назад +6

      @@JorisGriffioen actually line 6 does that since the pod series, you can go to preferences and select "Power Amp out" instead of "studio direct" and it will disable the cabs in all presentes

    • @JorisGriffioen
      @JorisGriffioen 4 года назад

      @@MarcoMontero per output, globally? I got a Helix when it was pretty new and this was not possible back then.

    • @MarcoMontero
      @MarcoMontero 4 года назад

      @@JorisGriffioen globally. I used to do that with my old hd500 I assume helix might have the same function

    • @JorisGriffioen
      @JorisGriffioen 4 года назад

      @@MarcoMontero yeah I did the same with my POD HD Pro... maybe I missed it but AFAIK the Helix didn't do it that way, every preset basically had completely separate configuration (except global eq) as far as I remember.

    For those wondering, John's guitar is tuned in C# DADGAD, which is C# - G# - C# - F# - G# - C#. If you wanna play and sound like John Browne in this video then start with that!
