bonus tricks especially for you. 1) If you go in the Setting > Diplay > Display Size and change the size to small, even more information will be able to fit in the screen and split-screen reducing the need to scroll up/down. 2) Try to connect to the TS via Bluetooth directly. You will need to have a radio for a very long job but the TDC600 have decent Bluetooth range. Try it and let me know what you think
Just got one. So far so good. 1) Wish it had a flashing light on front panel to signal notifications have arrived. Would reduce battery life but if I walk away from it I don't know if I had a message come in without waking it up.... Also had to install a separate launcher to allow for notification number count instead of just "dots." 2) Wish it had wireless charging ability like my old galaxy had. 3) Currently cannot be used with an SX10. Prefer the TSC7 for that anyway. Tested with R8 (model 3) on RTN and worked great. Robert, can you do a video on setting up a good WMS service in access. Thanks for the vids.
I feel the best way to go with the TDC600 is to use it as a DC running Access GNSS with your Rover...the Radio module is bulky and like you’ve said that’s just another battery to be anxious about.
Seems like a great product for gnss receiver. Kind of a bummer for robotic if you have to strap a 1lb radio to the pole. Defeats the purpose of having a lightweight dc solution.
...I was this close (my fingers are really close together) to going for the cost savings with the TDC600, then I went to work yesterday and it was 14 degrees. I realized how much I appreciated the actual keyboard on the TSC 7. I don’t think I want to mess around with a virtual keypad in arctic conditions. I think I’ll go for another TSC7 when the time comes...
Hi Rob, Sync Your data collector with gmail account. Then download auto sync for google drive app from google play. Make a pair of folders on this app with autosynchronization and have fun becouse You will use usb cabel for charging only. Same You can do with Your TSC7. Feal the power of new OS on TDC`s
Did you ever try this with the tdl 2.4 radio? We're slowly switching everything over to Trimble and I use a Panasonic toughpad which could run access with the radio and a special license for access. I'm wondering if it's worth saving my boss a bit of $ since my toughpad still works great. Or if it's almost the same price to get a tsc5 by the time you buy the radio and licensing.
Find the one you need in this link. Download it load it under system files under Trimble data. forms.trimble.com/globalTRLTAB.aspx?nav=Collection-32914
Hi Robert. I've been waiting for this video. Will the new TDC connect with WIFI to the SX10, and what would the range be like? Love your videos. Will the vests get to Western Australia?
am currently using Trimble R4s with TDC-600 manual. The electronic compass feature on the TDC-600 manual is not in the right direction compared to the mechanical compass. Specifically, the electronic compass on the TDC - 600 manual is faulty, because the north in the stake out screen does not rotate, or rotates a small angle but not the right north, making the process of finding points difficult and oriented can not. What is this error, how to fix it.
Great video, but I do like my TSC7. Couldn't imagine life without it. FYI let me know what I have to do to get one of your vest . I don't mind representing your company or trademark.. keep up the good work Robert!!!!!
All my equipment are Trimble, but I like the Leica Robots which now work with long range Bluetooth instead of Radio. Do you know why Trimble doesn't apply this solution?
I am a young surveyor but I train and work with a man who is 83, he is not licensed but is the best surveyor I’ve ever known , I work for one of that largest road companies in Georgia and we do all their subcontracted surveying , we use a digital Theodolite Trimble from 2001 , we still use a back site and a front setup on all our topos, we do the math by hand every day with a ruler and the book , we carry that red book in the back , I draw skectches and write in all the info , then transfer that to the computer once in the office , we even use chain from time to time , and I’ve slapped more 90s than I care to admit but the thing is he’s always right , we have had the dot tell us our survey was off but he always found it was their design that was wrong not him , only way he was able to catch it is he knew the math and could always look at Their maps and see they were off on buildups, love working with him
Is there a way to bind "enter" and"esc" to the physical buttons? When mapping in poor outdoor conditions like rain the touch screen doesn't respond too well. Not to mention cold winter days and frost bitten fingers, yikes!
@@matthewfore9819 That worked after updating Trimble Access. I was able to bind "Enter" to a button which helps massively. Couldn't find "Esc" option though. There is a loong lag between button press and save but it is still better option than a frostbite. Thanks Matthew! 🙏
Hi Robert, can you help me with this problem. Currently I am using Trimble R4S and TDC-600 notebook. My machine is difficult to navigate, find points on the Stake out screen. The reason: North direction on the Stake out screen does not rotate when the machine has changed orientation, making it difficult to find the point. What is this error, how to fix it, please guide.
Dear Robert, I wanted to ask you about the new TDC600 collector, you have experience if receiving antennas from other manufacturers can be compatible to link. in my case I have a pair of EMLID REACH RS2 receivers and I would like to know if I have a chance to connect to the TDC600 collector. Thank you very much in advance, greetings from Chile
If your running Trimble Access no it won’t work. There are no drivers for any other manufacturers in Access. Realize this is an Android operating system. If your current software supports Android then you should be good.
@@SurveyingWithRobert First of all, thank you very much for responding so quickly, the truth is that my teams do not have a collector to work with. They have an application and it runs from any smartphone with an android system. So I had the idea that I could make them compatible. But as you mentioned, the trimble access only works with receivers of the same brand and I think that in this case I could only use the TDC600 like any other phone and run the application used by my receivers, therefore it will not fulfill the purpose. Well I thank you for being able to share your knowledge, I am still young and I aspire to obtain those wonderful gps from the trimble brand over time. A hug
Hi Robert on vertical position of tdc600 you got below slider you can use it for splitting screen. Then you can see map screen and data info.
Pawel Szczepański sweet thanks!!!

Get a Xiaomi Mi Band 4/5 and you'll get notifications... I guess.

I would totally agree! The TDC600 is great for quick boundary surveys but I am old school! I prefer the keyboard myself.

Thanks for sharing. How have you been satisfied with the TDC600 so far since use?
I really like that thing for doing GPS work.
@@SurveyingWithRobert Yeah I ended up getting one used. Just getting it setup.
How can i export the survey report from tdc600? It does not seem to be in the job export formats. Thanks a lot

Hi Robert. I bought a TDC 600 and was wondering if there is a way I can assign the side keys a function. Example measure points
I will check into that. Seems like someone told me something about assigning keys.

When I get my hands on another one I will check and see.
In Access go to Favorites, hit the edit (pencil) button, and then pick function keys and pick something to assign to long and short button pushes.
