Great video thanks. Very tempted by this car, only thing putting me off was a bad experience with my old car with the 156 THP Prince motor but I have heard that the newer ones have quite a few improvements over the older ones.

Allow me, that's not the whole story ;) It's seriously tweaked by the Masters of Mahle Motorsport. Engine is a high-performer yet durable! (>150.000 km)
From Jalopnik: "This 1.6-liter engine's block has been reinforced by a specific heat treatment prior to machining to improve durability. It has forged pistons with a compression ratio of 9.2:1, developed by Mahle Motorsport which use an F1 grade of aluminum. The con rods have also been engineered to withstand continued use at high engine speeds and the uprated bearings are covered with a polymer coating that can withstand higher cylinder pressures.
It has a larger intercooler and a new twin-scroll turbocharger, linked to a new exhaust system. All that equals to 270 horsepower and 243 foot pounds of torque".
      Yes, Jalopnik is happy:
"And what a big smile it has! Other reasons for that include a strengthened six-speed gearbox, upgraded clutch and a Torsen differential for cornering. The wheels are 19" wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 tires with four-piston brakes".

I'm not sure if Peugeot have ever had terrible engines. Its more like the reliability around the rest of the car. 308 gti any good fro reliability? My 307 in 4 years needed a new turbo, flywheel / Clutch kit, digital accelerator pedal, new electrics for the radiator fan and the alternator was the last straw. All that on top of general wear & tear parts I was spending £1500 a year on repairs. I hope this stuff will never happen again with their new car as this looks awesome.

My average fuel economy is 34 UK MPG but driving long distance it's easy to get over 40, even close to 50 with careful driving.

Damien G yeah. Peugeot (PSA) has a corporation with BMW and they developed the engine together. Especially in the GTi there are stronger materials due to high compression in the engine. So I see no problem when you don't push the car when it's cold.

    • @KING0SISQO

Sully Sullivan ok. With due respect your comment appears to be aimed at a car you haven’t driven. And that’s only one car.
I can’t imagine you saying that about Audi or vw if your only one gave you the exact same trouble.
They could give out 100 french cars all perfect and you was just the unlucky one.
Meanwhile vag could give 100 cars and only 60 had no issues and you was one of the fortunate ones to be one of the 60 fortunate ones but you swear by the brand because of the luck of the draw.
      I own this car.
I test drove one before I decided I want the right one. The gearbox was perfect. My one is a bit notchy. But that test drive one had around 5k miles. The one I own had 20k miles. But having driven that other one first I know that it’s not just a french thing. In fact my vag car gearbox was much worse than my french car and it had much more severe problems. To include clutch replacement. Sqeeky pedal nearly a year later. Electrical fault that had 3 months at the dealer with no idea what the issue was. The motor in the heating failed and clicked in use.
Worse car I owned but I wouldn’t put it down to bad luck.

KING0SISQO nah I had the car from new in 2016... I switched to an Audi last year. The gears are slick and responsive. Best decision I ever made by switching. I’ve had Citroen’s since 2004... great cars nothing is wrong with french cars. Just stick with an auto and you’ll be fine. They’re comfortable.
