He's not putting on his "Sheldon" character... That's how he sounds and that's the way he talks in regular, everyday conversation. Look at his interviews!
I was cast as Elwood for my senior year play before Covid canceled it, rehearsals were amazing. Elwood is the most fun I’ve ever had playing a character, not just because it was my first leading role but because he’s just such a joy to play. I’ll always remember what little time I got to be him
Jim Parsons has such a distinct voice and way of speaking, that I can't help but just hear Sheldon this whole time! :P I'd love to concentrate on his character in this play but all I hear is Sheldon who has finally cracked and now has an unvisible friend! xD
He’s a good actor. But it’s just difficult to get praise for that when the first time people hear your distinct voice is on a huge hit show with a big personality.People will always just hear that character.
Depends on what actor. Simon Peg, for instance, is basically a chameleon and becomes a completely new person in everything he does, even down to sounding completely different vocal-wise.
Just finished doing this show, it is an AMAZING SHOW! If you ever get the chance to see it whether on Broadway or at a community theatre GO SEE IT! It's an absolute riot!
Oh my,what I see inJim Parsons acting style reminds me exactly like Jimmy Stewart's acting. So if Jimmy Stewart first played this role then I would say he hit it out of the ball park!! I so enjoyed this..
The original Harvey Movie was a very funny and entertaining, piece of film with a great cast...... It starred Jimmy Stewart, and the DVD copy I have, has Jimmy Stewart telling about the movie at the start, and that it was a Play, that he also starred in before doing the Movie..... I am a Jim Parsons fan , but his portrayal can't really compare with Jimmy Stewart's. I saw the play in Toronto at the now defunct Stage West, starring Don Knotts many years ago, and after having seen the movie, it also didn't impress me very much, even with one of my favourites, Don Knotts.
He actually started in Theater, Big Bang was his first TV gig. Jim was 3 times on Broadway, last year he played another lead, he seems to enjoy it way more.
Iike Jimarson's work in many things, but I'm afraid that Jimmy Stewart's gentle, soft-spoken, pleasant, and immediately likeable portrayal will always be the definitive Elwood P. Dowd to me... It could be that the required stage voice volume is off-putting to me for the character... I'd like to have seen Jimmy Stewart's stage portrayal that he did with Helen Hayes as the sister after the movie, to do a proper comparison (there was a TV performance of the play with Stewart and Hayes, but I don't know if a recording survived).
OMG, Jim Parsons did such a great job in that play. Harvey has always been one of my favorite plays AND movies. And Jim really did it justice.

You make sense in this sea or narrow-mindedness. Maggie Smith has a distinct voice and no one accuses her of being a one trick pony.
So are you saying he's able to play more than one character like a good actor can?

Is that so wrong? 😆
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love Jim Parsons
Just the fact he's Elwood makes me love Jim 1000 times more
Jim Parsons is amazing. And looks very dapper in his outfit.
My drama class will be performing this play around February, and I can't wait for the auditions to start
Did you get it? 😎

I’m about to be starting auditions for the show so I’m watching different performances for reference and such, I hope it’ll be great!
I wish I'd seen this!!! What a perfect role for him.

Nope. I still see Sheldon.

Aw, I love Jim Parsons, but the gentle James Stewart will always be Elwood.

What is the opening music
Is the lady in purple, near the end, on Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix?! Very neat that her and Jim P worked together in theater before being cast on shows.
Bazinga
is that barry kripke (john ross bowie) at 3:40 ?? ^_^
Yes it is. :)
SHELDON!!!!
Does anyone know if they would put this onto DVD..? :( Sometimes I wish I was American.. :( Haha
It’s like Sheldon searched for a new field of research and discovered theater.
He actually started in Theater, Big Bang was his first TV gig. Jim was 3 times on Broadway, last year he played another lead, he seems to enjoy it way more.
Omg he is Sheldon in every role?
The lady with the purple coat sounds like howard's mom LOL
Not at all!
Does anyone know the title of the opening music?
The name of soundtrack ?

is the lady in the purple coat carol Kane from taxi?
I would say it is her. In the movie Scrooge with Bill Murray, she played a great part as one of the 3 Ghosts.
Bazingz
