2:11 "Jenna has everyone's key" Jenna is their stage manager. All this jacket part Fred did to mess with Bill, & continued messing with him till the end. In fact, the end when Fred said "Bow to you?"was also to break Bill, but Bill played it well and made them bow to him😂😂😂 I miss Bill & Fred 🥺🥺🥺

(I think he's a comedic genius, but he's also a fantastic host, who asks really thoughtful questions and actually listens.) This ep is with Bill Hader; I think you'd enjoy it. He actually talks about this sketch specifically at one point. (I think pretty much all the "Speakeasy" sessions with PFT as host are worth watching. John Mulaney's is another of my favorites though.)
Fred is a master of subtle humor. He improvises creating some not obvious funny moments using deliberate awkwardness so natural and unique, it's funny and unexpected, and this is one of the reasons why Bill breaks the character so often in sketch's with Fred
I would so recommend watching "Bill Hader is a natural - speakeasy". Bill talks about how Fred improved some of this stuff just to throw him off, and it makes this video and them breaking even more hilarious
@@mosalhusari In an interview he said all of the jacket conversation was improvised. The other actor came in wearing the jacket to surprise him, he often did unexpected things to make him laugh
The Doctor has really done a good job with his patients cause even if they can't remember their lines they at least remember they are in a play and have to act. That is something.
That was one unorganized cluster fuc* script but at the same time smooth and funny. When Hader cracked up, the sketch got 10 times funnier. The script and those actors made it work, no other group could of pulled that off.
Porkchop Sandwiches Perhaps I’ll try that with a short play, I don’t know how well that would work with a Shakespeare play... That would be a heck of a lot of cue cards. 😄
I have short term memory loss and just had an episode while writing an essay for college and had a minor melt down. This made me laugh SO hard because it’s so real 😆
I wanted those two guys to start out pretend fighting each other, and then by the time they actually get into it, they forget they're only acting, and start actually trying to kill each other.
My Boy Scouts group did a skit once, I memorized it, it was short, and I thought it'd be simple. The other kids clearly hadn't practiced, going up on stage with their scripts in hand, and they read stage directions aloud. This reminded me of that.
Not SNL's first sketch about short term memory loss. Some of you might remember a few of the times Tom Hanks hosted in the late 80s/early 90s, he played "Mr. Short Term Memory", written by Conan O'Brien. One was in a restaurant, another time in a hospital and another on a game show with Tony Randall. So funny. So is this.
this is how middle school theatre rehearsals went lmao
💯
@@jonathanedward1642 it's always all about you.
this is exactly how SNL sketch look like whenever the actor read the cue card when talking
this is how my college role play is
Jario more like the actual performances
"Is the play over?... No!" I love it so much because it's obvious Armisen is trying to make him break - and he did.
That part always makes me laugh no matter what mood im in.
@@filmfangirls9163 same lol
I adore their friendship!!!
I broke. Hilarious, like the “bow to me”
Seeing Bill break was funny as hell
Bill cracking up will be always my favorite thing. I miss him.
Alexandra Gomez what do you mean you miss him...is he dead?
Viking Warrior he's still alive, just no longer part of snl
Viking Warrior Apparently he left SNL
he died 20 years ago!!
Bill is not dead that was a fake someone just said he was and everyone believed
2:11 "Jenna has everyone's key"

I miss Bill & Fred 🥺🥺🥺
you can even see fred suppressing smiles in both cases, he seems genuinely delighted with trying to throw bill off
I think it's funny because Fred out of nowhere stares at Bill and walks towards him like he forgot what he had to do
@@RKSxd 🤣
The way Fred walks towards Vince Vaughn and then they both get confused and Bill cracked up...visually so funny
I wonder how the sketch was going to end if they didn't bow to Bill? It was a great finish.
Knowing that Fred's bit with the coat was improvised just to make Bill laugh makes this 100x better
Gi O'Hara
plus the "is the play over?" line was improvised too!
how did you know it was improvised?
yeah i've been wondering too, how'd you know?
It's in the info section
The fact that Fred wrote this sketch then did everything in his power to break Hader is even more hilarious.
"Bow to you?" "Yes, yes, bow to me"
This one gets me every time 😂
Costanza Rosa Mongioì It’s beautiful and he just goes with it
LOL
Yes... bow to me. With that I'm so over this play face.
I actually feel bad for the one guys character when he's begging to do his part cause he worked so hard to memorize his speech... but then forgets it.
@Raven Winters yea, cuz a skit is not a reflection of reality
maya padmanabhan XD thats not what short term memory loss actually looks like
When was that?
Actually really good acting in this scene, especially from him. It’s a shame he wasn’t credited in the description of the video
Onkel Pappkov made me bust out laughing.
I'm a simple girl, i see Bill breaking in the thumbnail and so i clicked. I'm not disappointed.
You really are simple.
Same😂😂
Wonhee!
Your name says otherwise.

Indeed
scuzi
As soon as I saw fred armisen I knew that was going to happen, bill hader can´t hold it
Nicolás Jijón yeap they're like Hardy and Laurel
I heard the same thing about his liquor...or his bladder - I can’t remember which one...
They’re the new Harvey Korman and Tim Conway
“Give me my rent? Your not my landlord”
Hands down best line 🤣
10 months and no one has cared enough about you as I am about to do now:
**You're
It cracks me up every single time. Probably one of the best lines in SNL ever.
Truly the best 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yep
that's so true, the skit doesn't have a lot of jokes. This is one of the few ones n it cracks me up
Is the play over? Are we done?
Perfect timing. Killed me...
Amit Ben-Hur "Where's my rent?" What, you're not my landlord. Is still funnier imo
That killed me 🤣
Bill Hader looks and sounds like Dwight Schrute in this
Fact!
WTFLMOSKSKSJSHDF-
Holy smokes
Sigrid I thought it was lol
I had this feeling they were brothers
I would so recommend watching "Bill Hader is a natural - speakeasy". Bill talks about how Fred improved some of this stuff just to throw him off, and it makes this video and them breaking even more hilarious
if I had to take a guess, the line about 'is it over, are we done?' was improvised? Bill didn't really know how to respond to it hahaha
yeah its the same with the doorman skit were hader breaks down completely....
Emm98 I just watched that before coming here and knowing that made this skit even funnier
True
1000th like ;)
As a writer/performer who had a stroke years ago and who can't remember lines anymore, this hits home really hard. And its freaking hilarious.
Sorry dude. I'm glad u can find the humor.
hugs!
I can't stop watching bill Hader and Fred armisen
Norma Maria Torres me too. cant get enough.
well... they are pretty prominent in the scene lol
Same lol

Janet
They are trained professionals.
He's reading it from the prompter though
2:25 Fred’s confusing walk toward Bill for a moment, with that look on his face, was enough to crack Bill up I guess. I like that little part so much😂
Exactly
That's my favorite part of the whole skit lmfao
Fred improvised that along with the coat bit. That's why you see him smirk after he sees Bill Hader laughing.
This is what my ADHD feels like sometimes.
UGH SAMEE
So true. 😭
It’s not quite this severe for me, but I do have my moments like this. smh.
Same 😅
Bro, same.
The Doctor has really done a good job with his patients cause even if they can't remember their lines they at least remember they are in a play and have to act. That is something.
Also, who their landlord is.
That is a fact
Aidy Bryant is the cutest, she's such a delight in every sketch that she is in.
Bill Hader can have one of my kidneys if needed....i will not HESITATE!!!!
2:19 is Fred staring Bill dead in the eye to make him laugh?🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fred makes Bill laugh very easily lol
Yes lol
Fred always tries to destroy Bill... And I love that!!!!! :D
Bill's look--and the trembling with the newspaper--make me think he's thinking 'Fred Armisen, if I didn't love you so much, I'd...!'
And it works
When bill broke character and tried to speak, he kinda looked shocked and then angry that he couldn't say it without laughing

Make Cue cards for them 😉
Porkchop Sandwiches
Perhaps I’ll try that with a short play, I don’t know how well that would work with a Shakespeare play... That would be a heck of a lot of cue cards. 😄
This is just what happens trying to talk to my brothers in general-
It's okay. That's how comedy was invented by series of unintended errors

The concept for this sketch is absolutely next level awesome.
The delivery absolutely seals it as a LOVED moment from the show for me.
"Where Everybody Knows Your Name" sent me back to this gem
I love that look of Bill's at 2:34 like "damn you Fred" 😂
Idk why but I died at 2:50 lmao ahhh “is the play over? No” ahhh 😂😂
02:28 The guy laughing in the audience broke everything LMAO!
bill is a gift to us all. we need more of him everywhere!
As a person who suffered a traumatic brain injury in college, I'd say this was clinically accurate.
this really was in a playlist called "Snl skits that Bill Hader looks hot in"... I'm not arguing I'm just-
ooh link please!
Fred’s physical ad lib @ 2:25 that breaks Hader is soooo good
id love to have seen the table read for this
"Is the play over?"
- Every parent at a school play.
2:29 that classic Bill break lmfao
Aidy Bryant immediately forgetting her first line is brilliant.
...Is this behind the scenes footage from the second season of True Detective?
If so, they should have kept the behind the scenes. I'm still sore about that one. Season 1 was a masterpiece, 2 was refrigerator art.
So true!
Close!
I love when Vince Vaughn mocks him. That laugh.
Seriously, having memory problems sucks so bad.
@Stan matthers intolerant much?
I know, my dad has some memory problens from a brain injury, but all I can think of right now is "Finding Nemo"
Yeah.. It's a scream.
I agree. The other day I got out of my car, and I realized...
dammit!
Yea, having memory problems sucks so bad.
0:36 Bill just channeled Dwight Schrute for a second
One of the funniest sketches ever.
Bill Hader is the best SNL cast member in forever. Dude makes me laugh like no other.
Bill hader was great in every sketch.
When Bill and Armisen or Kristen, for that matter, see each other, they can't help but break and I think that's beautiful and hilarious. ❤️
Bill cracking up has got to be the funniest thing on SNL. #thecalifornians
Watching Bill try not to laugh is the best thing ever
That marvelous first gasp from Rocko was great also Fred in totality as well as Vernon's blank stare.
This is middle school drama club all over again
"Is the play over?" still cracks me up no matter how many times I've seen this
I️ love Bill Hader and Fred Armisen!!!! They just have to make each other laugh!!😂😂😂😂😂
This is so great I rewatch it every once in a while. Make me laugh everytime
Oh no those actors would drive me crazy if this was a real scenario.

Seriously sometimes this is what it 's like teaching!!
As someone with short term memory loss, let me say this is completely on point!

Says the guy who'd messed up like ten times😂 I can't help but thinking about primary school children.
"you're not my landlord.." gets me every time!!!!!!
Jay Pharroa is such a good actor and comedian I think he is underrated
He was definitely underused on SNL
He was terrible here. He sucked all the air out of the room
Bow, bow!
bow to you?
yes, bow to me... yes sass :-) :-)
He was cracking up in the opening of the sketch!! Never noticed that.. Absolutely love Bill :)
I just love when Hader starts to break character, this guy was born to make the world happier
Fun fact: Bill Hader said his 30-sec improv with Fred here is his favorite unscripted moment during his entire time on SNL
“You’ve all messed up!” Including you, Bill! LOL
Bill makes it funnier when he tries not to laugh
Bill Hader, Fred Armison, Jason Sedukis, Will Forte...best SNL male ensemble ever.
Chris Farley, Mike Meyers, Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon and Norm MacDonald would probably have to disagree with you there
You must be born in the year 2000
Taran , Kenan
Andy Samberg was in that mix too and he was phenomenal. We were truly blessed with this cast lol

Fred did “the can’t find a spot to put down the jacket bit” without telling bill. Awesome reaction from bill.
I love it when Hader breaks.
Bill 4EVA.
Fred Armisen should have a channel where it airs every skit he's ever thought up from all his projects.
0:52 THERE'S A GUY WITH A SCRIPT BEHIND THE DOOR!!

Bill cracking up makes these skits 😂

Fred Armisen is wonderful in every skit he's in
And i say that? 😂 enter land lord....

Anyone else sad while laughing? I really wanted to see a technique to help spark natural speech despite short term memory loss
love the way Fred spins looking for a place to put the jacket

This has become one of my favorite SNL skits ever.
Fred Armisen's lost look in his face is genius and definitely what made Bill Hader break 😂.
Bill and Fred are undefeated lmaooo
"Yes. Bow to me!" I lost it there XD
“Jan has everyone’s keys.” Such a truism at these things
I’m convinced Fred Armisens only goal when he was on SNL was to get Bill Hader to break character
