    8:42. I would also note to any tourists watching that after November 2024, the London Overground has been split up into 6 separate lines. All of them, like DLR, Trams and Elizabeth Line has parallel lines on the map instead of the solid lines for the tube. Here are the names:
    Liberty Line (you very likely won't use this) but it runs from Romford to Upminster and is coloured Black.
    Lioness Line: Euston to Watford and is coloured Yellow
    Mildmay Line: Clapham Junction/Richmond to Stratford and is coloured light blue
    Suffragette Line: Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside and is coloured green
    Weaver Line: Liverpool Street to Enfield Town/Chingford/Cheshunt and is coloured maroon
    Windrush Line: Highbury and Islington to Crystal Palace/New Cross/Clapham Junction and is coloured red.
    Like Jess said, you probably won't use this but it's good to know if you ever have to for some reason.

    Hi. Just for completeness … The Elizabeth line is on the Tube map because it’s there to take pressure off the central Tube lines and because it’s a railway run by Transport for London (TfL), just like TfL runs the Underground (Tube), Overground, Docklands Light Railway (DLR), River Bus (sponsored by Uber currently), Trams (located in south and south-east London boroughs where the Tube is either sparse or non-existent), the buses (cover all 607 square miles of London and some routes also go beyond London’s borders) the cable-car, the bike hire (currently sponsored by Santander - but other cycle hire bikes are available but it’s illegal to leave them where they block pedestrians’ way on pavements/sidewalks). Coach stops in London and Victoria Coach station are run by TfL. River piers (even those that also have the tourist boats, not just TfL’s river buses) in London are run by TfL. Black taxis (which are not always coloured black) are licensed by TfL. Only taxis can be hired on the street (hailed while driving on the street or from a taxi rank) and booked in advance. Other private hire vehicles can only be booked in advance as they are not taxis (so minicabs and companies such as Uber). They are also licensed by TfL but their drivers do not have to take “the Knowledge”. The National Rail trains are not run by TfL but are run by train companies for into and out of London around the whole UK (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland). And you can use Oyster cards on the London parts of their routes as well as contactless forms of payment, just like TfL. There are 6 international airports that use London’s airspace and so have the “London” prefix, but only London Heathrow (London Borough of Hillingdon) and London City (London Borough of Newham) are located within London’s borders. There is also a heliport at Battersea (near Battersea Power Station and the new location of the USA embassy) in the London Borough of Wandsworth. Remember that e-scooters are illegal on the public highway (pavement/sidewalk and road) except in Boroughs that are part of the pilot scheme and then only within the pilot scheme area (but still never on the pavement/sidewalk) and using their hire scheme e-scooters - never privately owned ones). It’s also illegal to ride bikes on the pavement/sidewalk except within marked cycle paths or on marked shared use pavements/sidewalks - but even then pedestrians have right of way and you cannot ride fast or in any way that will put pedestrians in danger. Remember in the UK the pedestrian is the most protected public highway user and every other public highway user has an obligation to protect pedestrians. Remember no matter what you see cyclists doing, it’s illegal to go through a red traffic light (but there is no such thing as jaywalking for pedestrians). Hope that’s helpful. 😊

    When you're on the tube it's quite possible it will make the loudest and most horrible high-pitched noises you've ever heard.
    This is perfectly normal.

    My best discovery is that if you have a Britrail Pass, it is valid for the Heathrow Express and Elizabeth Line. (It does count as a travel day.)

    I took the tube from Heathrow to downtown, cheap but even with only carry on baggage it can be uncomfortable, to be considered: it can be crowded and it’s long, if arriving from a long flight, I wouldn’t recommend it.

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  8 часов назад +1

      Keep in mind we don't have a "downtown" 😉 but yeah it can be tough with bags! ❤️

    The river bus is not really an option in the busy season (July and August). They are just way too busy and the wait-times are ridiculous. The road buses and the tube are great though.

    Hi, I will be traveling from biester village to London for 4 consecutive days for tourism, is there a weekly pass for it? What would be the cheapest way to travel. Thank you in advance.

    • @richardb3363
      @richardb3363 День назад

      The weekly season ticket would cost more than 4 return fares. A Network Railcard saves a 1/3 on each journey, but costs £30, so you would save about £16, in total.
