I was a sophomore in high school when this song was released. There was a girl in my class that I was in love with. We began dating around May of 1974. This became “our song.” We spent countless hours driving down the road listening to the 8 track of this song over the next two years, before graduation and my entry into the USN. We would serenade each other as we drove, and it would always end in each of us stating our love for one another. It’s now the year 2024, and that girl has been my wife for 45 years. We’ve been a couple of lucky kids. Every time that I hear this song, what great memories come rushing back. Thanks, Jim.
It truly is amazing how music dates us. I was a Freshman in High School when I met the girl I married. After two years of serving overseas in the Marines, we got married in 1971. I lost her in December 2017 to Cardiac Arrest. It changed my life forever. 54 years going back to when we were 14.💔

This album came out and everyone was a bit caught off guard, because I think they didn't want to like Jim Croce. He wasn't flashy like singers at that time. Yet, one by one, every song became a hit. A record label's dream. Long before MTV and FM radio was just sparking, DJ's on the radio controlled a bit what we listened to. But, Jim Croce was still making a name. Before it was over and at the peak, he died suddenly and it was all over. All who already had this album was happy to have one, but cried over the songs. I had an album. No way of knowing if he would of just had that one big album or not, but he would be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame for sure.

Jim and his music are frozen in time, so it comes as no surprise that it still affects me just as deeply each time I hear it. The purity of his music lies in stark contrast with what we have now, and it just compounds the loss.
Having recently lost my mom, as I listen to this song, I’m taken back in time to my early childhood, warm summer mornings, my mother, too self-conscious to sing more than a few words at a time, softly humming along, sidestepping every couple feet taking down the dry sheets, reversing course pinning the clothes up on the line in our backyard. I’ve never missed anyone more in all my life.
There are two of his songs that speak to me on a personal level. "Age and The Hard Way Every Time." As I've grown older, they remind me of my journey to where I am now. RIP Jim Croce❤

R.I.P. Jim... thanks for the music
Time in a bottle and this song are immortal ...they never get old
Conheci as músicas do Jim Croce no ano de 1981, hoje com 60 anos de idade sou um fã incondional.

Always loved his beautiful voice!

What Jim was talent and could sit there with just a Guitar ! Something most can not do today.
I absolutely love that these men are commenting about this song and the loves of their lives. It is so sweet. Usually men are not that mushy to publicly announce it!
Hello Debbie, how are things going with you?
I remember lying in bed as a teenager when it came out on the radio that he died, sad day. R.I.P. Jim, we still miss you. 😰🙏
He was coming to Sherman Texas and I had tickets to see him. We were devastated
😣😣😭😭😭😭
I was twelve years old in Sept. 1973. The shocking news came on as the last report of the 10pm news while I waited for some other program to start at 10:30. It was so brief I never even knew the crash details until decades later, found on the internet. Jim's widow spent two decades in litigation fighting for royalties and publishing rights stolen from her husband.
Jim, we ALL want to thank you for your beautiful outstanding songs and performances. You brought nothing but love and joy within our hearts. Jim, we ALL love you and miss you very much.
James Joseph Corce, God Bless You 🙏
🌟 💫 ❤ Rest In Peace❤ ✨⭐

I do miss great musicians like Jim an his voice an lyrics.
Tragic ending to a great musician. He made you smile an feel good with his music.
Aah those were the best days in the 70s. Jim Croce is timeless... this still sounds like a new song one can't stop listening to it.☺☺
when i was 14 i sat speakless bevor this LP in germany and listened, ok also supertramp. Jim with a burger on his hand on the LP Cover... i fell in love at once in his music. Today i'm 57. I didn't get rich of money...
Growing up in the 70's and 80's, I always wondered if this song was written for someone Jim knew... now I know. I love the pictures of them together.
He who dwells within the body is eternal and can never be slain. Gita
One of if not his greatest composition. He and his music are truly missed.
He is so sad
@@gwenellis9529 His music is sad?
Back again and can only say I love this song just stunning how can people write and sing and appreciate such beautiful music and then at look at how we treat each other in this world I hope you find the truth someday soon regards Mike
Jim died before his time ! Great musician !
I was around 10 years old when this came on my little transistor radio back in the day, how could I not love it.
I think Jim Croce was underrated. He had so many wonderful tunes.
We were so lucky to have grown up in a small southern town in the 1960s the best music of any generation, the great music from England, motown, and the great rock and roll from here, for me if not for Nam it would have been great, first battalion first marines semper fi.
Graduated from High School in 75
This man is a LEGEND
Simply just beautiful and elegant piece of music and pure gold lyrics ❤️ 💛
There aint no music like the 70s ever

Jim and his music are frozen in time, so it comes as no surprise that it still affects me just as deeply each time I hear it. The purity of his music lies in stark contrast with what we have now, and it just compounds the loss.
Good words my friend. Best wishes to you.
@@philmullins136 Thank you very much for your kind words Phil, I'm glad I'm not in this boat alone. Be well sir.
You got that right!
Most of what they record / play today, is garbage.
Aye
Having recently lost my mom, as I listen to this song, I’m taken back in time to my early childhood, warm summer mornings, my mother, too self-conscious to sing more than a few words at a time, softly humming along, sidestepping every couple feet taking down the dry sheets, reversing course pinning the clothes up on the line in our backyard.
I’ve never missed anyone more in all my life.
So many of my teenage memories are tied to Jim Croce songs. Thank you, Jim! Thank you.
There are two of his songs that speak to me on a personal level. "Age and The Hard Way Every Time." As I've grown older, they remind me of my journey to where I am now. RIP Jim Croce❤
Amazing
Love your harmonies
