Detailed, thoughtful review. Juan deserves a lot of credit for sticking to his guns in doing deep dives and focusing on substance, while some many other reviewers have moved to the over stylized, gloss-over, Instagram-style, "5 things to know"-type of reviews for an increasingly smaller selection on phones. Even if the headphone jack is dead on most other phones that doesn't mean wired audio is also dead. You can still use usb c headphones or just simply use an adapter.
@@popantermopan4099 Problem is that's another item to carry that can get lost easily, plus you'll wear out the USB C port easily. Believe me it happened to me from normal use, okay maybe heavy use, but imagine how it quickly it would wear out if from both charging and using it for headphones.

@@SomeGadgetGuy first fell in love with the design of the V-series with the V10 and V20 with how unique they were. While I do miss the more rugged design of those, the V60 is the absolute best phone ever for multi-tasking and just packed feature-wise. I love the phone all around, but damn like you said it is BIG and it is HEAVY particularly with the dual screen case on. Was a bit surprised when I took it out of the box 😂

Dude, I agree SO much. I was literally shaking my head as you talked about "average use" and what consumers actually need. I see so many people I know waste hundreds, and even thousands of dollars on top of the line phones like the s20 ultra and iPhone 11 Pro and other phones like that, and then when I see them use it, they only text and call and watch one or two RUclips videos a day. It aggravates me to see such good tech going to waste. People should really keep in mind what you said. Most mid-range phones today are packing some good specs for a good price. Sure, it may not have a 90hz refresh rate or a Quad HD (some mid-range phones do tho) display, but it gets the job done well. Mid-range phones as a whole are being slept on. Now, people like me who play tons of graphic intensive games, does a crap ton of calling, texting, RUclips, Netflix, Vrv, Hulu, and music consumption... People that do things like that should buy higher prices phones with better specs that will actually be used. Most people today wouldn't even notice the difference between 8-16 gb's of RAM, and a lot wouldn't even fill up 128gbs of storage in a lifetime. They wouldn't notice the difference between a 90hz and a 120hz (I do though. I like high refresh rates but it isn't a must for me). I need 128 gb's of storage for all my music, images, memes, videos, pictures (I travel a lot), and games, etc. Now, the person next to me (hypothetical) doesn't do all that, and yet they buy the exact same phone and let it go to waste. And yeah, it's nice having the best camera for people like me who travel a lot and are super active, so the V60 is a major go. But there are other people who should just buy cheaper phones like the Pixel 3a (or XL model) if they want good overall camera performance for average, daily use. Sorry for kind of ranting lol, just my thoughts. Also, everyone is different, so you can't really group a group of people into one category because everyone has different needs. Also, your review was absolutely amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed your video, and would like to see more about the V60.
Might finally upgrade from my v35 I've had since new. I haven't seen much of a need to upgrade since my v35 still works ~fine~ but this phone (v60) may be my next phone, though I may wait a bit for the price to go down
This review needs more attention! especially with average consumer and "tech enthusiasts" that sounds like influencer rather than tech enthusiast itself. because it's more detailed and proven by tests. i like how your review perform man. it reminds me with jarrod's tech which tests every laptop and prove the results and even you put more logic rant with people nowadays. thumbs up dude.

This is a super good review!!! I have an LG G5 that I got in November 2016 and it's still going strong using it aggressively everyday, not to mention I have easily dropped this phone over 1000+ times and it works perfectly fine...... Currently deciding on a V50, G9, or V60... definitely want a dual screen but not sure if Verizon offers it.... Would get the G8 but it has no 5G..... Thanks for the great content!!!!
Juan, hands down the best tech reviews I've seen on the net. Thorough, informative of what's really important, critical of things we SHOULD care more about, and someone I feel I can trust with these reviews and opinions. Thank you for your dedication and keep up the great work!
I love the fact this phone has an FM radio as well. Most "average" consumers will use a streaming FM radio app. For those times when you have poor signal or are in an emergency situation (natural disaster) the FM radio and headphone wire as an antenna can be a life saver. Often overlooked but crucial point for those who are survivalists.
This is the fairest, most well-contextualized review I've seen for a phone in some time. Thank you for not just skimming the spec sheet and highlighting differences between this and the latest Samsung phone. Kudos! This phone has exactly the feature set that I care about (and a few extras) without increasing the price on a lot of features that I don't care about. With flagships all $1k+, it's basically a flagship phone at a high mid-range price. I think this will be the real sleeper pick out of the flagship SD865 generation. I'm sold on it. I'M NOT GIVING UP MY JACK!
As a RUclips creator myself I had been putting off buying a new phone in 2020. After a ton of careful considerations I have ordered a V60. It has some really great features and compromises just enough to give me the most bang for the buck. (excuse the pun) Thank you for the reviews on it as you really made me do a ton of research before I made my decision to purchase.
Just found this channel, the RUclips algorithm really seems to be doing you no favors. Searched "LG V60" and similar trying to find a good review on this phone as I took the plunge and ordered myself one. Watched several half ass videos before discovering this one, which was nowhere to be found in my search results. "LG seems to be the only one who still has me in mind," that is the exact reason I chose this phone. I'm huge into audio, and I too am really sick of hearing this stupid "well just use bluetooth BRO" excuse. Seeing the headphone jack in a 2020 model phone is refreshing, the quad DAC is a nice bonus too. Also can I just say, this video was really well organized and you explained everything really well in a detailed yet not extremely boring way. You have a really entertaining "radio" voice, you kind of remind me of Bitwit in that regard. Definitely subscribing and watching more of your content in the future.
I love this review. Finally a fair and honest phone reviewer. Great job recommending a device most reviewers write off because of ridiculous specs that no average consumer cares about or will ever notice in their daily use
Thank you Juan for making the video accessible to us non-Patreon viewers here on RUclips. It's been a long time since we got to see your full review on a phone.
Great review. One of the most thorough I have seen for any device in a long time. I recently purchased my V60 a few days ago, and I was coming over from a Note 10+ that I had been using for a couple of months after I gave my wife my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I really, really love this V60. There are a couple of annoyances, but the overall package is amazing, and I still have yet to try out the dual-screen since I had to redeem that separately. I love the headphone jack, the screen is great. I find the fingerprint sensor quicker than the one on the Note 10+, and the camera has been great. There was a slight learning curve to get accustomed to everything, but once I did it's been smooth sailing. Now I want to get a Wacom pen, and I will be good. Thanks for the great video.
Yo i would just like to give you a round of applause for being one of the first youtubers ive seen give a comprehensive review in a manner that is easily understandable, and concise. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the great review! I'm sold. Was sold on the LG v30 for the DAC. LG seems to really hit everything else I was looking for in a new phone out of the park- Multi tasking with multiple screens, stylus for doodling, content creation, and headphone jack with DAC still! Woo!

FINALLY!!! A video that actually acknowledges Pro Modes in the camera. Yes, the average person won't use them, but this isn't a phone meant for "average" users! You just got another sub for this one!
A detailed insight into not just the V60, but also how important it is for such a phone to exist in 2020! This review just got me excited about the smartphone industry once again. Excellent work Juan!

Awesome review! I think one of the advantages of the Note 10 is its size and pen support. I like the V60 too, but I live in Europe so we won't get it. But I tried a V50 in a store and it's huge.
I hope that you and yours are well God bless! The LG V60 i think is a fantastic phone and a powerhouse for content creation. Ive been using the Note 8 as my main device for all things creative for two years and have always used a note device. I have been saying for years i wish someone else would make a comparable screen similar to the note series and the fact that LG has done this with the v60 has made that the main feature i care about along with desktop computer mode. As for the display, no biggie. If i want high resolution I'll watch on my note 8. Thank you for an actual review. I came across your channel recently and am glad to have found it! Keep up the excellent work God bless!
I saw picture of someone playing a 3ds emulator with the dual screen. I thought it was nifty as heck. I love using the s10+, but man the curved edges are still not growing on me, I'll definitely go back to lg as my next phone
The dedicated fingerprint reader in the back has made my life so much easier. I fear the moment when I ll have to replace my V40. Is any manufacturer still sporting one?
I am afraid you'll have to go with budget devices. Just saying from the top of my head, I can't think of any "good" phone to have a capacitive fingerprint sensor. Though looking into a mid-range device with an LCD display is one of the best sure fire ways to get the physical fingerprint sensors since you can't have an in display sensor with an LCD display.
Its why LG gets my money. I have some awesome Kinera Idun IEM's that sound absolutely amazing on my current V40. Wifey and I just did the BOGO at Tmobile for a couple V60's that we pick up on Tuesday. Looks like it will be a nice upgrade.
Dude I cried the first time I heard the V60s audio through my high end headphones. I was considering the Note 20 ultra but NOPE the V60 is perfect for me.
My friend pre ordered the s20 ultra and isn't even using QHD and 120hz even when I pointed it out to him and shower him the difference he said he barley noticed and switched it back. Can't get more average consumer then that I love the 120hz personally, but it isn't a deal breaker when for example every Samsung is a exynos chip in my country so I rather use LG with a Snapdragon. Will have to see if networks get the device here otherwise will keep on using my v30
Finished watching this great video from juan. Wait, what?? Almost 30 min video? Without any background music, no flashy 360 video of the product? No deep/bass voice narrative? How did I focus the entire video..? You know what, it's just show how good juan is with his own style of review. Which could also be applied to those buying phones because of what the advertising/gimmick told them, instead of what best fit for them. Keep it up juan, you're the man. Can I suggest you make a video on how to setup podcast/ song or music recording using lg phones. Since it was intended to be content creation and audiophile phone.
Any chance of a Redmagic 5g review once it's out? You're my favorite reviewer and would like to see what you think of it because atm specs wise it's looking pretty damn good
Whew!! So much flew right over my head lol Didn't know how much I didn't know about smart phones. But I do know I loved my V10. I switched temporarily to a Samsung A10, but am going back to LG. Ordered the V60 (just the phone) and can't wait. I think I will really enjoy the audio quality and hope it will be easy to navigate like the V10 was for me. Crossing my fingers on getting used to the size.
I had worries about the screen going from the V20 1440p . But the V60 with the audio and OLED actually looks better by a respectable amount. The V60 is a youtube consumers dream phone. Long battery life , stereo speakers , and amazing quad dac using headphones and a pretty amoled screen and it's cheap. Get one now and when you crack your screen in 2 years you can buy a refurb phone for $100-200

Something I've noticed if you're upgrading from an LG V40 to a V60: even though both phones use an oled display. Color reproduction seems to be better or more vibrant and less washed out on the V40 but colors are still decent on the V60 Another thing: if you want to use LG pay and you have a capital one account. Great review, as usual! I bought the v20 back then, after watching your videos. The thing I love most is the quad-dac, as I use my phone mainly to listen to music. Would you think it is worth an upgrade to the v60 if I still love the v20?
You are definitely ahead of the consumerism if that's the proper word to use . Just wondering how you can do it watching RUclips videos on lastest and greatest technology everyday 😅.
Juan Carlos - Another well done video. I really appreciate your insight, which always goes beyond the spec list. Fair and balanced and unafraid to deviate from the prevailing orthodoxy.
I just bought this phone unopened brand new unlocked T-Mobile for $375 on eBay, that's ridiculous. It is so nice it's like a Samsung Note phone for 1/3 the price. Sound quality from the headphone jack is phenomenal the best and it's compatible with a stylus like the note series. This screen is as clear and sharp as my previous phone the Galaxy S9 which has wqhd+ pixel density. The colors are just outright better on the LG phone as well and I'm really surprised because I thought the Galaxy S9 screen was almost unbeatable.
@@SomeGadgetGuy But now some are backtracking. Chris Velazco over at Engadget... bashed the shit out of it during his initial review. Juan great review, you are one of the only honest LG reviewers out there, thanks! I had an LG v40 Thinq, and traded it in for an LG G8x Thinq because they had a deal where I was paying 20 per month for my V40 and could could get the G8x for 15 a month, plus dual screen. I left samsung during my note 2 days for the LG G flex (which is still my favorite phone ever) and been with LG ever since, If anyone is the least bit interested in the dual screen they can get the G8x and buy it outright unlocked and try it , they won't be disappointed. I heard that LG has also made a dual screen for the Velvet. Remember, had samsung or apple done the exact same thing with these specs it would have received the acclaim LG should have. Thanks again Juan!
Great in depth review as always bro. Although I would have like to see a qhd display, I will agree with you that lg is definitely giving people more bang for their buck! Thanks again for your review 👍
Very in-depth review,I love looking at them, you are unbiased and give so much detail. Keep the good work man and don't stick with the crowd like the others whom only prays Samsung and apple and huawei no matter what it's true or not
Always a pleasure watching your reviews especially on LG phones. I just picked one up but wasn't that impressed with the cameras. Would love to see you do a comparison between the G8 and V60's cameras. I don't have my G8 anymore but can't help but.feel like the margin between the 2 isn't that far off.
I seriously love the Context Awareness features!! Plus, the Quad-Dac just gets better each generation. So, now that we're on the 3rd iteration, ESS really has made some strides.
Sammy and LG really don't get enough credit for some of those UI add ons on top of Android. I got into Android because of customization, so that stuff really helps personalize a gadget.
@@SomeGadgetGuy I wanted to get the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, like my wife did. But the lack of headphone jack was a deal breaker, as I still thoroughly enjoy using my headphones. I have sold off my Daps over these last several months and trying to accept the wireless future. But it just isn't there yet. So, LG V60 was my ticket to ear-euphoria.
For the games section, I suggest you look into "Sky: Children of the Light" game. Veeery taxing to the system. It's basically Journey for phones, made by the same company.
The devices this year, are making me happier that I went with the LG G8 honestly. Higher resolution screen, great camera that is flush with the device, and performance is pretty much identical to what they have this year. I do miss using third-party launchers though, still waiting for gestures to be supported by Android update.
I love how Lg has stepped up with this phone.. love the fact that you can use the pen but not sure where it goes on the case or phone? But the one thing I like to know is what's happening with the smartwatch to go with this phone. I have the note 9 phone with the galaxy smartwatch and its amazing.. The key is being able to answer my phone when I don't have my phone with me. Now if lg had that kind of smartwatch or even if the Lg V60 would work with my galaxy smartwatch.. I would purchase this phone in a heart beat..
You could get the Surface Loop and stick it to the dual screen if you needed it ON the phone, but it's a full sized stylus, so I just keep it in a pocket.
Watching this today, in second half of 2024, makes me realize how far behind LG today's "top" smartphones are. I mean, I'm NOT talking about the production dates and technical specs of hardware, but all that experience and collective wisdom that LG mobile consisted of that put together these oh so complete computers, that look toward cutting edge like top audio I/O, screens as bone conducting speakers, front facing ToF ID tech that makes Face ID seem dated, while having firm foundation with the past and present state of tech, like FM radio, 3.5jack, SD card, USB-HDMI, it's what defies a smart-phone, smart device, being able to interconnect with tech all around it, and doing it gracefully. Dammit I can't stop this rant! LoL
I really enjoyed that review, and Iv always thort that LG has been one of the most under rated when it comes to smartphones, from the G5 I was sold pity I can 't aford the v60 but if can make some extra cash I will get one for my birthday day 11 September, I also Wana become a reviewer and I think itl help in makeing content starting with vloging thanks for the osum review!!!!!!

@@mistamaog of course, I never said that there aren't any trade offs that you would have to make if your phone doesn't have a headphone jack, but I don't think not having a headphone jack should be a deal breaker for most folks. You know, the jack is not a necessary feature but it's still nice to have.

No worries on the rant. We all feel that way from time to time. 🙂👍

Might finally upgrade from my v35 I've had since new. I haven't seen much of a need to upgrade since my v35 still works ~fine~ but this phone (v60) may be my next phone, though I may wait a bit for the price to go down
Yep watching on my G8 while waiting for my V60 to ship from T-Mobile.
On my v30 with my dying leds when I lower brightness. Sucks.
Haha so true. I always ask people bashing LG: who made your TV?
I'm currently watching this on my V30. I would love to buy the V60, but not sure it will work with spectrum's service.
Finally some credit for LG that it deserves. Also the hardware quality of LG is really good. Good work Juan.

I just think claims should be tested you know. The bigger the claim, the more scrutiny it should face.

Glad I could help. Happy shooting, and congrats on the new phone.

All the main reviews are always public. Op7, gs10e, Xperia 1 and 5, pixel 4. All those videos are public on the channel.
Congrats on the new phone!

I love the 120hz personally, but it isn't a deal breaker when for example every Samsung is a exynos chip in my country so I rather use LG with a Snapdragon. Will have to see if networks get the device here otherwise will keep on using my v30
That's because there's no noticeable difference. It's a gimmick.
I left samsung during my note 2 days for the LG G flex (which is still my favorite phone ever) and been with LG ever since, If anyone is the least bit interested in the dual screen they can get the G8x and buy it outright unlocked and try it , they won't be disappointed.
My wife cannot understand why I wanted this phone over the Note 10+ or S20 Ultra, which is exactly why I wanted it lol
@@mikecarr1484 No, you're dumb. So stop hating on people for no reason.
@@mikecarr1484 what an ignorant thing to say
LoL
Every day. EVERY day I miss LG...
Woohoo hot pant pockets
I finally put myself in a thumbnail!
