Not quite my full review. I still can't test 5G reception on my Korean Velvet, but we can talk about the rest of the phone! And there's a LOT to talk about! It would be a mistake to look at the processor in this phone and make a conclusion on that one feature. The Velvet has a LOT to offer a BROAD range of consumers. Let's check it out!

OMG You did so much for LG 😭 YOU SHOW LG JUSTICE!! I LOVE YOU MAN!!!! ♥️
I just realised that many reviewers are being so weird and against LG 😢 I understand some but, seriously?! THIS DUAL SCREEN IS A FUCKING MASTERPIECE IDEA!
And those reviewers are still complaining and saying stupid mockery on this dual screen.. I'm losing my mind..
And no, I'm not a LG fan. I am an avid user of Galaxy Note 8 and Note 10 Plus for years, with LG G7 as secondary phone. But even so I hate my G7's UI hahha specially the weird gallery.
So for this V60 and Velvet, I believe I'm genuinely impressed and in an awe for their idea and execution of this dual-screen. 👍
I love you too 😎 made in korea
Juan when people say I love you in the comments, believe me that comes from the heart. You are our voice, you are the warrior who fights to make our lifes better. I love you man!
😊👍
Loved your review subbed straight away keep up the great work 👌
I'm interested in buying this phone, and I love that you called out some of the unfair criticisms. I've watched a lot of reviews for the phone and I've been noticing them as well. I've seen the dual-screen case charger nitpick a few times which truly seemed like a weird nitpick to me.
thanks for the review!
😊👍
Appreciate the straight forward review mate. My wife and I went from Android phones to iphone 8's when they released and now we're going back to Android with the Velvet today because of your POV.
Congrats on the new phones!
@@SomeGadgetGuy
I still use LG G6 because in my country it had a great price and everything I needed, it is very durable withstood an accident on a motorcycle and hitting the road at high speed and in the meantime there was no smartphone on which I think it would be worth spending my money, they were either too expensive or did not have the things I need but now it has changed LG at an acceptable price for me has things that I need and in my country it adds a dual screen for free in promotion, so it's time to change the phone
@@czaja995 Damn, I also still use the LG G6 and it’s been working great although slightly showing its age at this point, it’s also been extremely durable for me, I’ve never even had a case for it, Although I have had a Dbrand skin on it for about 1-2 years now and can definetily recommend Dbrand, the skin is as solidly on as ever. Only small gripe about the velvet for me is the 1080p display, I’d prefer a 1440p after using that on a 5.7 inch display for about 3.5 years now oh and I will never give up on the headphone jack and micro sd slot
you're the realest reviewer. I've been on lg for so long and people always compliment my phone. people really be sleeping on lg
These are the reviews that keep me coming. Great point at the end about us as the audience giving more time for more well thought out reviews
These types of reviews can use all the help they can get.
You're amazing! Finally a review that deals with the whole package in a way I can understand. I have always had a soft spot for LG and I am super-stoked that this phone is finally living up to a lot of the potential I have seen in the brand. :) Love from Canada
Felt it was worth comparing on even ground with the competition 😉
Always have been an LG lover. Have been using LG since the G2. Having owned every G and V series phones, I know LG. But you are the best at making it the best it is and that" the other guys" just complain about LG because they are LG. Thanks. Keep up the awesome, open minded, honest reviews!
👍
@@SomeGadgetGuy 4 reasons why I am still sticking to my LG v20 Running Android 8.0 Oreo.
1. obviously removable battery, which can be powered by a extended battery case.
2. 16:9 aspect ratio. I really don't get it, why on earth manufacturers use narrow aspect ratios, the widescreen is really awesome to type.
3. That second screen is so freakin awesome, if you get back to using it I think you'll love it, no notch, no stupid punch holes.
4. IR blaster, if you can reach out to LG tell them at least people in India still need LG quick remote
@@arnold_m_xavier The V60 would be an excellent upgrade for you. Yeah sure no removable battery but it's 5,000 mah battery is more than enough. Dual screen is everything the second screen well if you think about it the dual screen is the second screen 2.0. I'm upgrading to the V60 from my G8 and keeping my G8 as a backup I just want that dual screen.
@@quv2035 I simply love LG v60. only two things are keeping me away from it.
1. narrow aspect ratio. foolishness.
2. teardrop notch on both displays. Stereo friend firing speakers with dolby atmos could have been freaking awesome

Amazing video :)
Nice to see someone reviewing LG phones honestly!
This is a really solid review. Awesome video! 🙌🏼
👍
I really enjoy the depth of your reviews, keep em coming, stay fair, stay safe.
You are the best phone reviewer on RUclips, in my opinion. Your channel is not the same tired phrases and options, heavily influenced by a manufacturers reviewer guide. You make genuine, real world comparisons. Your opinions are well thought out and communicated well. A lot of other channels would make a video, and actually look like they are unsure or still figuring it out when they release their "review". I appreciate you and your videos. You are severally under-rated.
Going to be selling these soon at work, thanks for the breakdown, definitely beneficial. I used your discussion on the v60 to explain to my employees the benefit of lg
Glad my videos could help! Its tough digging up more info on less popular manufacturers.

Wait, are you selling or buying?!
Great reviews. Found you looking for info on the V60 to replace my G6. Now the Velvet is here. Will wait until Velvet hits Verizon and see what deals the two have.
I just LOVE your reviews. Thank you so much!
A lot of people or consumer the be sleeping on LG
Just because the sales
LG always being solid
Velvet has been getting more positive reactions. LG making some steps in the right direction.
@@JJop123 wooo
I forgot about that... Yes is real... I experienced some of that with that G7 thing. .
@@JJop123 my g8 got Android 10 before my OnePlus 6t, and was second behind my note 10 by like a few days. While yes LG historically took forever to put out updates they've gotten better within these past 2 generations of phones and streamlining how many phones they put out will help that.
@@JJop123 didn't have a OnePlus 7 pro, both the 6t and 7 pro were having issues with Android 10, and both also got Android 10 around the same time.
So it wasn't really a new phone gets the update first thing while the older phone gets it months later like it tends to work. Plus the 6t is still widely used so it's still relevant to the convo for at least one more update cycle given oneplus's track record. Lol
@@JJop123 Also a few years ago they had a problem where their phone screens started to be unresponsive after a year or 2.
Love your reviews man this is the guy you surprised on Reddit when I shouted your channel out on the LG v60 subreddit !!! Your one of only like two others I trust

This is what a review should be about. Great job sir for a thorough review of this phone.
😎👍
Juan as usual doing a master class on how to make a we'll rounded review. "That's confirmation bias" 👐🏿👏🏿
Felt it was worth commenting on some review trends...
@@SomeGadgetGuy exactly. The velvet, fold 2, and pixel 5 are on upgrade lists this year. Your video was helpful to keep the velvet in play.
Awesome review as always but what could you tell me the name of those ear buds 5:09 you have in this video?
20 minute tech review and i enjoy every second of it...

Awesome informational review on the Velvet. I'm liking LG phones more and more. The design of this phone looking great. Thanks for sharing the details and 👍 up Juan

WHOA! this review..made me wanna subscribe, well done.now i think this is a phone i will get.

you made me want an LG V40 ThinQ. Now it's time to upgrade. Looking for the next best phone. Keep up the good work bro.
Very informative video, thanks again Juan!
Glad you enjoyed 👍
Juan, you kill me with your radio voice (in a good way). Anyway, stumbled upon an old PocketNow video with you. Didn't even know worked there. It was an LG phone review of course (LG G6). Love your channel.
Awww deep cut. Some fun videos to work on during that PN run.
Like always, another fantastic review, well done
👍
I love this Juan! You just created a diss track review video!!! 😂😂😂
My reviews tend to lean this way. I feel it's worth calling out a few concerning trends in tech reviewing.
I almost want to get Velvet for myself now :D Great review!
You changed my mind on this phone! I read so much bad things on it coming from some "reviewers"! I was impressed by all the things this can do!
That was a great review Juan. You've given me a lot to think about when I eventually have to replace my V30.
Good run for that V30! Such a pretty phone. Before phones got HUGE LOL.
@@SomeGadgetGuy That's so true. I can use it one handed, the battery is still going strong and I keep finding new features to use. I picked it up on the big sale in November after Thanksgiving back in 2017.
Run that baby into the ground! 😁
I went from the v30 to v60.. Great choice duel screen power user... His reviews are great and practical... V60 and velvet are going to be theist underrated phones of the year... I got a Bogo deal for v60 from tmobile making it $400! With dual screens!...what a steal!
This is a really well presented video. Thanks Juan 👍🏽
Also that video from TechAltar is one of the best videos I have seen in a while, exceptionally well presented and explained. Just hope more people get to see it to give them a wider understanding of the Smartphone industry.
He's SO GOOD. Makes me crazy jealous LOL.
Thank you for the review. Yesterday (the day before this video was aired) I just bought a V50 from eBay to use on T-Mobile. Got an unlocked Sprint one instead of Korean version with rather unrefined dual screen. I'm using the old faithful V20 on its 3rd battery, really digging the headphone jack and wide angle selfie that ends on V50.
After seeing your review, i might return the V50 for Velvet for its perfect blend of design, functionality, price and matured dual screen. Sad to let go of wide-angle selfie, though. That was often the only phone to capture everyone in family events with arms reach!
Your reviews always have wonderful content, and the script is fantastic with good humor with no redundant words. Thank you for the great work!
I don't know if you care about 5G but that sprint V50 is being pulled. It won't support T-Mo 5G. Should work fine as an LTE device for a while tho.
Thank you for the reminder about (no) 5G on Sprint V50. That's another reason to go with Velvet instead.
Another thing I enjoyed on V20 is to manually tune sound levels when recording loud concerts. Is that the part of quad dac that exists on Vs only? Being a new dad now I'll have to part my band days for awhile so that's probably no longer a bid deal for next 4 years. Thank you Juan.
Velvet has the HD Audio recorder app still, but I think the noise reduction is too heavy, especially compared to the V20.
Only if other reviewers could review lol phones like him, Marque....ahem
A really great overall review, Juan
We have fun here.
@@SomeGadgetGuy I didn't mean to insult anybody, I was just your unbiased comparison to other tech reviewers.
The only actual reviews seem to come from you and Mr. Mobile. (though I think you still cover devices more completely than anyone else)
I'm glad you do what you do :)
This was incredible! So rigorous, keep up the great work
Great review Juan! I'll never stop supporting you!

Lg isn't the same manufacturer from a yr ago I'm loving the direction they're heading... Your evaluation of lg and unbias opinion is a breath of fresh air you hit this out the park with everything you said
😎👍
yeah, I have been leaning towards Sony since last year and especially this year's phones for my next phone upgrade but seeing how LG is improving, I might stick with LG
👐
Awesome review...this phone looks great. I'm so glad this price range is becoming competitive in the US.
Definitely. Nice to see some mainstream 5G options.
@@SomeGadgetGuy I believe it's coming to TMobile so I might pick one up and try it out using my jump on demand line
It should be. I know AT&T got it first, but it shouldn't be a long exclusivity.
Hi juan, what´s the name of the app you are using for pro video recording on the velvet? i can't understand that part well
Absolute superb review, will be my next phone. The duel screen is the mutts nuts..
It's a FUN accessory for sure.
The tech world will "discover" dual screen phones when the Duo is released but still find ways to bash LG for doing the same thing with more flexibility.
Even the Duo will get panned for the specs. So frustrating. I'm not impressed with this idea that only a magical future foldable will be "worth it".
@@SomeGadgetGuy And now LG among others are looking into scrolling screen technology. The others will try to move the goal post should said technology hypothetically be more useful than foldable single screens.

Great review, now I have to determine which of those two phone will be my next pick or the 8 pro.
I love the way u go hard for lg cause people really be trying to do them in and I've owned a few of them last one being the v30 and before that was a g4 and although I had the loop issue I wasn't giving up so I found a way around it and never had another issue besides that I'm waiting on my velvet now coming from iPhone 11 and I cant wait to get it
Shots fired! Lol! Great review as always brother! Thank you!
LOL pretty mild shots...
Would love to see a video of this phone vs the LG G8X dual screen. Keep up the good work.
I am loving my LG Velvet. Awesome review.
It's SUCH a pretty phone. LG really delivered somethign special IMO.
Literally my first ever comment on a youtube video (and my first ever like as well!). Seriously man, I watch all the 'big' reviewers and you are one of, if not the best I've watched. How you're not pulling in more people I've no idea. Regardless, keep it up man, every video of yours I've watched (and it's a lot!) has been fantastic. Cheers!
Juan and Micheal fisher from Mr mobile are still the best reviewers of this era.
Bought the phone 375$ new and I'm loving it. Downloaded SwiftKey, and gcam mod and I'm almost set
Really nice video. First of yours I've seen.
I have a few more to check out...
Excellent review! I love my Velvet.
Nice review. My current phone is still in good shape but I'll be looking into LG phones in the future.
HI great video, I am wondering if you could help with the setting for the camera and for video I heard that the 765 has a hard time doing 4K, so the settings are important to me to get the best pictures and video, keep up the good work.
I've been doing a lot of phone research bc my v30 is starting to struggle (after 3 years of constant use and being dropped 40k times. Several it which were in the shower... That's a thing normal humans do) and I'm so, so glad I found your review. I've been baffled by a lot of the LG reviews I've seen - it seems like people would list off a bunch of silly complaints or, worse, list off a bunch of positives and then rate the phone poorly. The thing that almost had me pulling out my hair was reviewers who complained about LG attempts at innovation with the g8 gesture stuff AND complained that the company is stagnant and all the phones never change. It... Cant be both. They get that it can't be both, right? You can hate the innovation, but then you cant complain that they never innovate. Especially when you're also going to praise iPhones for doing the same thing for like 15 versions.
I've watched *DOZENS* of reviews and you were the first one I saw that even mentioned the v60 and velvet had wacom pen pressure sensitivity. Like... What? How is that not even getting an offhand, throw away comment from other reviewers? That's huge for a lot of people. That's like not bothering to mention that the iPad pro can be used with the apple pencil. Yeah, it's not everyone's use case, but come on! I shouldn't have to specifically search "phones for artists" in order to find out that little bit of info.
What I've learned is RUclips tech reviewers are kind of baffling. But also thank you!!! After hours and hours and hours of research, I totally know what phone I'm getting now and you've saved me hundreds of dollars and disappointment.
This is why I love your reviews, they're always well thought out, clear and concise. No other RUclips is doing reviews as well as you are in my honest opinion
This is a bomb review! Hehe 😉👍
Excellent video! Well said about the LG Velevet
Such an awesome feature packed phone.
@@SomeGadgetGuy Yes it is! I was thinking about picking one up. I just think of their marketing was better, maybe they wouldn't have closed LG Mobile.

@Juan Can we open four apps at once. That is, two apps on one screen and two on the other?
I want this kind of design along with flagship-grade camera array along with 90hz screen at 600-700$ from LG.

Thank you so much for such a detailed video.
Will be really interesting to see how this compares with the OnePlus Nord
Should be a REALLY good fight in the markets where both will launch. I'm hoping we get the Nord here in the USA at some point.
Solid review man. That dual display has endless possibilities (for me, anyway).
It's such a fun accessory. I don't get the people knocking it.

Techspurt seems like a GOOD dude.
Thank-you for doing this. Seriously. I've been looking for a good phone to buy and your reviews have helped me the most. I've been laughing for the last few days because I watched a few popular creators who reviewed the V60 wondering why it's not selling more. Then I watched their initial review and they complained about every feature that made it stand out/practical/versatile. Like 3 guys straight did this.
Literally can't make this up.
It's not fun when the game is THAT obvious.

But you should still stick with me 😁👍
Loved it..u earned a subscriber!! I am a lg fan and I know how much underdog they are. Only complain i can have is the camera where may b they could have given a better wide angel sensor as I use that more than the main camera...so I will wait for the upcoming flagship in 2021, as I heard it codenamed "rainbow"!!! I assume it was meant to be the v70.

I was going to go from my V35 to the V60, but I think you just convinced me to go with the Velvet instead. honestly aside from the whole DAC removal, the only thing I really have as gripes with this phone is how curved it's display is and there's no more unlocked LG's
Yeah. 5G is a pivot year for sure. It makes sense why LG would only do carrier partnerships, but it's definitely a bummer.
The reason this phone doesn't get the love it deserves is because the logo attached to it. If the same phone was made by certain companies, it would be considered revolutionary and a game changer for the mid range market.
You KNOW it would.
Yep completely. I hear all this hype about the Microsoft Surface Duo.... I'm like ...But... LG already has something like this.... even better since it can become a single screen phone.
But non availability in hot markets like India is unforgivable...
LG is a forgotten hero
I remember when Motorola's Atrix came out with one of the first finger print unlock systems ever for smartphones...no one really cared that much, but literally years later when Apple announced their version of the concept, EVERYONE lost their minds and made out Apple to be some industry hero...LG faces the same unfair market responses and its all because consumers are just a bunch of sheep...I know this because I studied Business Marketing in college, it's the art of training consumers to want what you tell them.
The last LG phone I saw in a commercial.😥
Great video 👍
Thanks bud 😎👍
Hi, thanks for a great review. Could you please also tell (with an answer here in the comments or in a video) how the Velvet performs when the Dual Screen phone is used in a "mini laptop-mode" with the one part placed on a table and the other part used in an angel as a screen like a laptop? How is writing in this mode, when the base part/screen is used as a keyboard? How does the screen work as a keyboard? And how does the apps function with the two displays in this mode, when used in writing? Thanks for answer, for this matter is barely mentioned in the various reviews.
For me, Juan's review is a breath of fresh air in support of the many unbiased reasons why I made my choice to go with the LG Velvet.
I put in a lot of research into my choice for my next phone, and I carefully studied many, many, many video reviews to weed out unreasonable and biased information. I wanted somewhat high-end at reasonable cost... and I eventually chose the LG Velvet, a mid-level phone.
At a Verizon special price of $140 for the phone and an LG price of $180 for the Dual Screen... I feel I have been fortunate and found excellent value in a solid package that meets my current needs.
To complete, I just need an Active Pen... suggestions?
A great & comforting review, Juan!
I use the Wacom, but if you can find the older Lenovo active pen, often as a refurb with a dead battery, those are usually pretty cheap.
5:33 did I hear “mega pickle sensor”? Lmao
Savory delicious mega pickles... MMMmmm...

After watching videos on this channel. I ger sick of videos on other channels since they do not review lg phones properly
The game is a lot less fun when there's an obvious slant on what gets good reviews and what gets trashed.
Fantastic review. I'm always recommending Samsung phones, especially their A51 and A71, but i think LG has a winner here.
It's really exciting IMO. The A51 and A71 are SOLID options, so seeing an LG give them a fight there is REALLY encouraging.
@@SomeGadgetGuy I am losing my infatuation with Samsung. The only thing inventive they are doing cost 2K. Not ready to spend 2K yet.
I've been lukewarm on Samsung, especially making "statement" phones like the folds, but I have to give the A series a lot of credit. Samsung used to make some of the worst "poor person" lite phones, and now A51 and A71 are MUCH better options.
Metamorphic Crystals if you want innovation, look towards China.
This isn’t 2013 anymore.
Fantastic phone just got it. Very happy with it . solid mid range handset
Upgraded from a pixel 3A to The Velvet 2 days ago. what a huge upgrade. The LG has a big, gorgeous display.. with beautiful materials and construction.. fast and very thin..!!! I travel through Wyoming weekly and the T-Mobile service with the Google pixel phone was always losing signal.. with the Velvet and AT&t service 5G has been a huge upgrade..Love my new velvet
It's REALLY pretty. A11 update right around the corner!
Why doesnt the Velvet have manual video controls?
And am I going to have to worry about losing all the great manual controls for both photo and video if my V35 & V40 get the android 10 velvet UI update?
Probably not. The V60 still has all the pro modes.
@@SomeGadgetGuy thank god. That's part of what keeps me in with LG.
I really enjoy shooting video more than photography. So when I started messing with manual controls for the first time with my first LG V35 device I about lost it.

When are they launching it in India bro ?
@@vikasgouda9417 No Idea Bro. I'm gonna buy one in Canada. But it might come to India.
@@Mumbai-Toronto-NY you are from Canada ?? Good to hear ☺️
I watched quite a few reviews on the lg velvet before i bought it. And all of them were extremely critical of the camera and its cpu and display only being 60hz.
They were so out of touch with normal consumers, all they thought about was how this phone stacked up against the far less stylish and lower quality built chinese phones like the one plus and other instead of comparing it to the phones from other major manufacturers like apple and Samsung around the same price.
Because when you do that the lg velvet suddenly looks like the best deal around for a no compromise phone that wont break the bank.
The lg velvet has a really good battery at 4300mah, a more than good enough 1080p poled panel, a very good for any normal human being f1.8 12mp camera that offers excellent photos and videos for social media (all social media apps limit videos to 1080p so stfu about needing 4k and 8k), an unrivaled build with gorrila glass front and back with a polished metal frame, and one of the best audio experiences for a mobile device that isnt a dap or ipod.
The $500 Samsung a71 5g comprises heavily on the cpu with a exynos chip and heavily on materials with only a plastic back and gorrila glass 3 on the front. The iphone xr is a similar story. The velvet is just an all round great phone for a normal human for $600.
Superb, awesome, honest review! LG really doesn't get enough credit for making terrific phones. LG really has improved with their support and updates. Love my G7 ThinQ. Their Android 10 update on a 2 year old phone makes it feel like a new device. Can't wait to get the Velvet when the time comes!
G7 might be one of the most underrated of all time.
Awesome review.
👍
as far as I can tell I missed out on the LG Velvet dual screen. I can't find the screen anywhere. and that makes me sad.
will be looking out for this phone when it comes to my market (singapore). love LG for being first to the wide angle trend, their solid build quality, keeping the earphone jack, and water resistance! Been using a s10+ and am unhappy with samsung's strategy of using exynos when snapdragon is available
Have you thought about a comparison between the Velvet and the V60? That would be interesting. Also ive seen that the T-Mobile version is different that as it has the MediaTek Dimensity 1000C processor. How is that different that the Snapdragon 765 5G? Your the man when it come to these types of reviews. Thanks for the time you put into the audio and video reviews on all those phones.
Bravo Sir, Bravo! What a fantastically insightful and honest review. I just wish they'd release the Velvet and V60 in the UK. They've managed to make the dual screen package thinner and prettier than ever before whilst increasing its' functionality. The Velvet seems to be the most versatile mid ranger available, allowing the consumer to choose what he or she wants to use it for. Want want want!
For reals. LG marketing and distribution are the rough spots right now. Hoping this phone sees more regions.
Keep up your good work 💪👌👍

I'd like to hear your personal recommendation for one small matter...
I own a V30+ for almost 3 years now, I love it, but it's got buggy... Stucks, crashes, takes long seconds to load aps, the battery doesn't long for a day of use (it is possible of course to replace the battery), etc.
I tried to factory reset it. It helped a little, (by the way it also got me back to Android 9 from 10 I had before the reset), but still, it feels like the phone is struggling with the tasks I need it to perform.
Now I am not a content creator or a gamer. I think I'm an average user. I use the phone for work (corporate emails and calendar - I use LG built in apps), a lots of WhatsApp, camera (not only at work, but all my pics of my family are made from the phone), send and share pics, and phone calls - a lot of it, and I do use several Bluetooth divices, sometimes connected together (headphones, watch, car). In the evening, web browser, Google docs, youtube and sometimes simple kids games (my dauthers are 4 and 6 years old) so no heavy graphics. I also don't see myself as a consumer of the dual screen option. And, I don't really carry that much about the "design"... I need the phone to be a work tool, and not a shiny toy.
I live in Israel, so we don't yet have 5g available, and I believe won't be for another 3 years or so... So all the phones here are 4g only. And we only use gsm networks (no CDMA).
So, I have 3 options for new phones (if I finally give up on my v30+):
1. LG V50 for around 430-450$, as a personal import from eBay us seller. A new phone, sprint unlocked, said that has local 1 year warranty (not much of a use at such a distance).
2. New LG VELVET for around 470$. It's available here from LG, so come with 2 years warranty.
3. Galaxy S20+ for around 830$ also from Samsung retailer so with warranty and service to.
My main concern with Velvet, is the specs (I do use several apps at ones, and need the phone to perform instantly and not to make me wait to open an email, a message or to glitter when I use a browser)...
What would you do?...
