What helped me journal is no rules at all, in can write whenever i want, a week in a row or once a year, i can draw, i can press plants, keep train tickets, candy wrappers, write songs i like, anything. The result is a chaotic mess that bearly closes, but as a result, im not afraid of messing it up.

journaling helps me so much. i have been journaling since i was 7 and it was a year after my mom passed away. even at year olds just writing “i miss her” helped more than i could ever know. now im in my teens and i still journal and currently have 14 journals filled out! it’s been helpful for me and i don’t think i could live without it. one thing i am trying to change is the strictness of my journals and more really how in my mind every page has to be pretty and thought out but it doesn’t have to be. it’s my journal, it’s my mind, i just want to be able to write what i am thinking.
it is weird to think that someday, someone will read my journal. i have seen videos of people buying journals off of ebay and just reading them. that’s crazy for me to think about. plus, i’ve been journaling for a good portion of my life and i think i will always journal so to think someone will just be able to read my whole life story is insane. i hope after i do die my journals are taken care of well or end up in a safe place so they don’t get lost or ruined. that is a fear of mine having *so many* journals.
i think the video was great! journaling is such an interesting topic to me and everyone journals in their own way so to hear about your way was cool!

your editing style is so fun to look at! I'm so glad you decided to make a journaling vid bc i rmbr u talking about it in one of your previous ones and it made me so curious. I love to journal too, but none of my friends do. It's so fun to see your tips and how you approach journaling. Thank you for being open and just for sharing what your beautiful mind has to say. I love what you said about not using your journal only as a place to vent. Even though I used to do that, I began to journal about my random thoughts and whatnot, and it was a much more positive experience. Unprompted journaling is usually what I tend to do too! ^-^
Also this is so random, but i notice you always wearing that green necklace. It looks so gorgeous on you and brings out your eyes! Your eyeshadow too!!

this video is making me want to journal!! i feel like it would be very therapeutic to jot down my silly thoughts, haha :-) i loved how you made sure to tell us journaling shouldn’t be our only outlet since we’re more susceptible to associate our journal with negative feelings! that’s *so* important!! thank you so much for making this video and sharing your journaling advice :D

So this makes sense mostly. I have two main journals one to vent in and write plans or just notes and one with mostly stories from days i went through, or things i have to get out of my head. These are positive and negative.
However i dont agree on keeping in mind someone can read your journal. This could make you write differently and limits the way you vent. So if you are aware of it, make it so you can tare pages out

Wow a lot of great and helpful ideas on journaling. I generally journal without any structure, but the mind map and prompts sound interesting. Thank you for this. BTW, have you ever thought about writing with a fountain pen? I find them amazingly pleasant to write with. There are some good ones that don't have to cost a lot like the Lamy Safari, or TWSBI ECO. Fine nibs are best to start with.

Thanks for the reminder. I’m going to dig out the fountain pen I used all through school and for the next 20 years. I stopped when I found myself in a harsh ‘biro’ work environment but the time has come to find pleasure in writing again. It’s a lovely gold Sheaffer.

Really love your content and this video! I havent journaled in a few weeks, but i usually do the first style with occasional prompts amd mapping. I, however, use it for both positive and negative experiences. Sometimes, there are general rants, but not often.
Over the past few years, i go through periods of journaling where i wont do it for weeks at a time.

Brilliant video, I loved it. I had a ‘retirement’ journal that turned into a war rant three months later when C hit. Then I didn’t want to put dreams in it in case it was used for reference so I keep dreams to their own pages that can be torn out. I have just started making journals with Coptic binding, I can see now my subconscious wants me to start again with a better system. Dreams deserve their own journal. ‘Trust in dreams for in them is hidden the gate to eternity’ Khalil Gibran.

Being an actress why-a you no start a *"screenplay"* journal, little conversations overheard, random thoughts, your emotions talking to each other, with screen directions, camera angles, a sort of storyboard ? Facial expressions and body language observed. That includes lighting situations seen in life along with sounds, sensations, smells, etc. As time goes by combine them in a story. Use them as a source reference.
A "dream journal" cross referenced with other journals.
(Recently been watching You Tube "Cinema Tyler" and "H8urs", would explain the above :)
Also, a *"Trade Journal"* . Notes from being on set. Things learned or observed, stage directions, director style, equipment used, markings, cues, etc..
Dunno why, occasionally see Amanda Peet reflected from you as you develop as an actress ??

i have one journal that is mess, i can write anything
second is morning pages journal and i have it for 4 years maybe
i cannot decide what to write where, because i wanna have something like 'book of my history' and to be chronological, that means i have to write everything twice, to be in both journals or i need to accept that it's okay that not everything is in every journal
recently i started also writing in my planner when i'm traveling
