    I know a lot of people think its cool to say "Green Day sucks they're a bunch of posers" and I used to be skeptical myself but if you really listen to their records (or at least all of the albums from Dookie through American Idiot) is that they made some great records. The song structures alone made them great. As a guitar player and someone who tries to write songs its really inspiring to hear a band that has great arrangements, intensity, hooks, and a good dose of the Replacements influence in their music

      I would love to agree with you and you are right. On the other hand my beef has a very unusual and sadly laughable twist. I am a HUGE Genesis fan and my argument is almost the same in their case. But my musician friends who think i am nuts for listening to Genesis are HUGE Green Day fans.

      Green day is the reason I first picked up a guitar in 1998. I absolutely adored Billie Joe and his writing is prolific and honest. Then it became taboo to like greenday and being in hardcore punk scene queen hipster venues during my teenage years, it would have spelled a loss of respect if I'd covered a greenday song, even though "search and destroy" was about just as commercial of a single as anything greenday released pre "warning". People are too hung up on the dumb shit for sure, if it sounds good and isnt just a copy of something great, it is great itself. And the same dipshits that talk shit about greenday will listen to fall out boy, my chemical romance, and any other commercially viable and clear channel radio acceptable derivative power pop bands that had record deals based on image alone. But whatever, the stooges are killer, and yeah, Henry would have been cool to have inducted them, but so would a long list of great frontmen.

    • @quaid667
      @quaid667 5 лет назад +7

      @@vertebralremains379 I have friends who love heavy metal and adore Green Day. I tried to get into them and kind of succeeded when they bought out Warning. As I seem to recall it wasn't a major hit, but I bought the single. A few years later American Idiot and everyone went nuts. I wasn't that impressed. I understand why you and millions of fellow fans recognise the genius. It's not for me I suppose.

      @@quaid667 I agree with you on American Idiot, it was like a second coming of christ to all the fairweather fans and spawned alot of new fans for them, but yeah, the album as a whole didnt blow my skirt up. Theres some great songs, jesus of suburbia for instance, killer track. But objectively as possible, I concede that (excluding dookie) all the albums up to and including Nimrod were damn near perfect. Insomniac I believe to be the finest writing and structure out of all of them. But you are not wrong in any way lol.

    Green day in my opinion is one of the greatest bands ever because how they brought Punk mainstream with Dookie then proved critics and gilman street wrong with Insomniac which proved they were Punk. Then they should signs of maturing with Nimrod because of Good Riddance. Then re-blast their careers with American idiot, and then 21st Century Breakdown. With how many records they have sold, and how great the song writing was, and the fact they have been a band for over 25 years. That's what makes them one of the best ever.

    Why were the Stooges, one of the most significant, genius, brutal, earth shattering bands of all time, inducted by a performer who has to read what he feels from a piece of paper? The Stooges summon up so much passion, that surely, an artist who is moved by them to the core, would have been more moving. Someone like Nick Cave for example, or Henri Rollins, John Lydon, Alice,

      lucy girl well, the fact that their music has changed since their "punk" days, shows that they probably didn't want to stay confined in that category. Alot of bands willingly label themselves as a type of genre, but musicians that grow and develop in talent often get tired of being restricted by that label, and want to expand their horizons

    Iggy did say Dave, only Ron would have made sure to mention Dave for obvious reasons. Meanwhile James mentions all the second rate bass fill ins who should never have been in the band every, anyway....
    Dave was done being in a band with Iggy acting like he was in charge.

      Mike is not a fill in in 1970, those fill ins after Iggy fired rocknroll. You can’t fire rocknroll tho.

      however that may be. The BASS on the entire Raw Power album is the top, ever. Ron & Dave top in my world. Idea of godfathers of this or that no appeal for me.
      Mike is not a fill in, like those bozos James mentioned, those fools had no beeswax being in the Stooges. Firing Dave, they got what they deserved. Goose Lake live is the best recording. It makes fun house the studio version sound like practice. Goose Lake is Dave on
      bass, that’s the Stooges. Even James was a tag along. It’s a wonder why Raw Power even says Stooges on it. It’s Ig’s first solo album with Stooges playing on it,yeah James wrote amazing songs all of them, no filler. On acoustic. Ron & Scott is why people care about it, it wouldn’t sound anything like it does without them. As a group, the invoked each other & had the ability to bring it!
