I think this car is beautiful and has a conservative design, which I like! The Legacy is one of the only cars that looks like a normal car. These days, cars look too futuristic and sporty for my taste.
i bought a Limited as shown in video a few months ago, Love it.... no issues yet stereo is great and its fantastic on gas. my first subaru and i am not dissapointed
Looks like a very safe option. I agree with Drew about the styling. Still, if I were in the market for a sedan, it would be at the top of my list of options.
Everybody be like they should have spiced it up a bit. Then when they spice it up, the saying turns to it looks too aggressive for a family sedan.....
Agree completely. We bought a 2020 Legacy Premium with nav and sunroof and we don't care much for how it looks on the outside. It's got lots of safety tech and does well in crash tests and that was the #1 concern for our family.
Lots of engine noise inside on acceleration ?? You have to go into P C to shut off engine stop - start feature Every Time you start engine
up !!!! That's a game changer for me !!!

This is quite a good car, but it got an absolutely awesome review from y’all! 😸😸 I have to say that I prefer the smaller screen and physical climate controls of the last gen, but the new screen is growing on me!😸😻😸

Excellent review! Really wish Subaru had done full LEDs - signals included - at least on top trims. I mean this is an all new model in 2020 right? But kudos on the CVT, it at least sounds fairly normal, I bet the turbo is pretty fun to drive! All in all a nice alternative in a shrinking segment.

I really wanted to buy another Subaru this year to replace my 2009 Impreza but the entire lineup in the last few years has been so bland and generic I just lost interest.
I’m 64 years young & I like it a lot........other vehicles out there today look so aggressive to me & I really don’t care for the look.....even wheel covers🤪. Now, I really don’t need or care for these large screens either😬.

I like the fact that the Subaru Legacy still has a 18.5 gallon fuel tank unlike the Honda Accord which only has a 14.8 gallon fuel tank.
They say the bigger the tank guess it’s the worst on gas mileage would be…..

Great with great technology all round, but those wheels are even more awful than the preceding generation. Then they bring back the turbo but no GT badge and they actually went to lengths to not use a hood scoop even though it still has a TMIC.
Subaru wants to steal sales from Camry, Accord and Sonata, but what about winning sales to people like me who drive a much-loved Gen4 or Gen5 GT with 100,000km + on it and would like to see a true successor? Sort it out Subaru!

Absolutely no reason for that ginormous eyesore of a screen. Break out the climate controls and seat heating/ventilation controls as physical controls (as they should be) and you could knock at least six inches off the screen. I've tried to like Subaru for a long time but they always, always, always do something stupid to screw things up.

I was test driving Legacy back in December and almost got in an accident trying to fiddle with their huge infotainment system. Even basic functions that used to be physical buttons are now buried within multiple screen menus. Very distracting. That’s the only reason I did not buy a Subaru
Most of this new crap is the same. Here in Oz it's not legal to use your phone while driving and using this great big tablet is just encouraging you to have an accident.

Can't stand the auto start stop system.
N Jackson agree! Had a 2020 Malibu as a rental and the start stop system had to be turned off every time you start the car. It was super annoying.
agreed, auto stop start is a no go. too bad as the legacy is a decent sedan.
I drove a 2020 Legacy Limited for a few days and it what the worst implementation ever. It comes on every time you start the car and now with the giant touch screen, you have to go through menus to turn it off. It would be a total dealbreaker to own. The boxer engine just shakes the entire car and startled me when I forgot about the system at times.
You can turn it off. That’s what I do.

Although Subaru shown looks nice if people are not aware of other brand cars of present & past. However the fact remains this model has copied various features be it interior or exterior from other cars a few could be named viz, Camry, Accord, Chevy and some other well known American cars.
This car has the appeal of a plain saltine cracker. Perfectly fine, but literally anything is a better snack.
(Also that CVT drone... eugh)

Subarus in a nutshell
Subaru should have stuck with the 6 cylinder engines. Subaru hardly produced but a hand fully loaded cars which is truly a shame.

Makes one think about how times have changed. While today you guys are entirely accurate in describing Subaru’s styling as conservative, 15 years ago or so this was pretty far from the case.

The exterior of this car looks looks it was designed in 2002 or something. It's so dated.

It's very sad since the 2002 version of this car looked better but that car was more of a sports sedan rather a huge FWD family car.
Gee, the exterior design of my 2016 3.6 Legacy RS Premium is way more badass. I also prefer my Legacy RS's interior design though would love that 11inch screen of the 2020 Legacy.
Our WRX has been at the dealer for almost a month now and they gave us a brand new 2020 Legacy Premium loaner. There's no way I'd buy this car after spending weeks in it.
Very nice review. That car looks circa 2013. The styling and interior on that thing is extremely dated especially for a redesign. That's the best Subaru could come up with?.

I think Subaru legacy is one of the most reliable midsize sedan on the market.
The new Legacy's infotainment system is too complicated, requiring too many steps to make basic adjustments.
The exterior does look kinda dated, but I love the interior.
So dated, looks like an old man car from the side,aside from that its nice on the inside

Camry in a Subaru outfit..
Overall what do you think of the infotainment system in the legacy and the outback? I've heard it takes multiple steps to accomplish 1 task. I am not overly high tech that is why I am asking. I hear the one in the crosstrek and forester is much user friendly.
Personally, we didn't have much of a problem with it. Yes, a few things that used to buttons take more steps to find, but otherwise it's pretty fast and intuitive
Camry , Accord and Sonata. Until Altima get back their sh**t together with transmissions, they should be put of the league.

Not sure about reliability of this vehicle . Its manufactured in America . So quality will dip . The only subaru vehicle still made in Japan is Forrester.
I have the current generation top spec Impreza hatch, and build quality is poor, fit, finish, paint job, dashboard rattles , wiring issues too( lost rear power windows ) 3 out 6 warranty approved repairs, 6 or 7 recalls ( lost track too many), my previous 2008 Impreza (over 100.000miles) was way better only one recall (takada airbags) no issues... more power, no CVT... oohh wait old one was made in Japan, current Impreza is made in the US. I did buy the first batch, maybe that is way my car has so many issues and all service bulletins apply :( to it
@suspicionofdeceit If they bring the 2.5l (182 BHP) engine on the Crosstrek and a manual, I'm all in, If not I'm going for a Alfa Giulia TI Q4 sedan , AWD and 280 HP, red leather interior ....

I enjoy your reviews guys, but with this one I'd ask one question. If it were you, would you pony up for the turbo 4 or not? Asking for a friend. Thanks again. By the way, I must be getting old. I like the simple lines of the Legacy. Some of these newer cars are trying too hard to be different.
Thanks! Personally, I would pay the extra money for the turbo 4 because it really helps liven things up. It definitely makes a noticeable difference, so it just comes down to personal preference if it is enough of a difference to justify the price increase

I had one and I had to traded in for another brand ,the infotainment lag and crash and unresponsiveness was driving me crazy

Happy owner of a Forester, so was curious about a Subaru sedan. Much better inside than out - but their whole lineup is much more about competence than flash, and that’s reflected in how well done the interior is (where people spend most of their time!). Love your trademarked BK Coupon touch - you gotta use it if you review a Bentley!

Guys, absolutely great review on this Legacy. I opted for the Touring XT myself and your review is in line with everything I’ve experienced so far in this Legacy. I absolutely LOVE this Legacy because rear auto brake, responsive headlight and of course AWD are some of the things you won’t find on the Accord or Camry for about the same money. I love you guys, y’all are two no nonsense journalist that tells it how it is. Wish you well. Oh I forgot the Camry now have available AWD but you’ll pay about 2 thousand or so more and settle for the base engine and same goes for the Altima.

Have a 93 legacy rs turbo with 340,000 k's and a 2000 Outback 2.5 I just don't look at these things any more looks to me like a camery. Subaru have just lost their way

To be completely honest this car looks like it’s from 2007

The side view looks like a 2016 Accord then the rear like a 2016 Sonata, the front grille area is of a 2016 Ford Taurus and the rest a basic older boxy Subaru. The only cool thing is the all wheel drive and the tablet from the Dodge Ram that looks out of place.
I Prefer the 2020 Sonata/Optima, Camry, Accord & Mazda Mazda over this generic looking Subaru. Lol
