We really need a player to player market application. The pick up stations could server as a drop-off and pick up point for things to sell and stuff you've bought
I’ve been a miner, cargo deck hand, turret gunner and many more. Currently operating as a marine with an org where we engage in all kinds of ops from bunker diving to anti-piracy ops to running security for orgs that put together tours in luxury ships. The great thing about SC is that I can do that in the same game as a fighter pilot. I just wish for some more ground attack munitions in the game so we can call in CAS and some Helldivers style drop pods so we can get to the ground safely from an altitude or a ship moving fast. We do have the Cyclone drops from the back of the MSR down now.
I had a great time learning how to race during an org event the other day. Looking forward to exploring that more and engineering when that gets fleshed out.
I also hope that they will, down the line, create cargo escort missions. Thereby will give alot of gameplay to people having fighters they can use to defend escort ships from point A to B. Fending off waves of attacks. I always remembered in Wing Commander that it was a cool mission. See how many escort ships you can help survive through the mission.
I can't make up my mind, but do think cargo is the foundation of the PU, like a web it touches all game play. IMO the greatest thing about the SC PU is that, if you have a decent cargo ship, you can participate in most hame loops. Take a Taurus for Ex. it can claim a wreck, remove cargo, weapons and components. You can acquire enough components to do repair. It is not the best ship for the job, using hand held tools, but can be done to earn UEC, (in future) especially in fringe systems. You can mine if your ship can carry a ROC. It might not be the best at any of the game loops besides cargo, but not like speciality ships. Think Firefly.
I actually have not seen GII on any leaderboard and didn't know you folks had a racing team. I hope you all are ready for Daymar, Crux Cup, and System 7! Welcome on in!
13:24 Yes YES! I just so happen to have a Spirit E1 AND a 600i Explorer in my fleet! VIP transport/sightseeing as a game loop by having a dedicated group of missions (passengers to pick up and destinations) for reputation are among my hopes for the future!
Star Citizen isn't a space game, it's an every game with the space side of things as its initial offering. Eventually it will have farming, trucking, all kinds of urban gameplay loops(it's coming for GTA) etc. The level of detail CIG is putting into it is gonna make such inevitable.
ATM for credits I use my reclaimer...when my pockets are full...I roam the system looking for opportunities...looting someplace I've never been like weeping cove for the rare clothing and armor u can find. Typically I'll use my blade fighter and shoot up the site since I know where the baddies are... I'll land...then loot all the npc bodies and containers if any. I have a mole and prospector and a c2 to move my cargo and mine on land or in space. So I get to be a miner...salvaged, trade expert, explorer and if I find a player with bounties I'll be a bounty hunter. Living and thriving in Stanton isn't easy but can be lucrative if u learn the skills to exist in the SC verse solo.
Love this quick look at all the different jobs one could take on. Giving the MMO feel to Star Citizen that should be transmitted to the masses. Its built to be a MMO not a video game. It has video game elements but its core is a MMO.
All of the non-combat roles have significant appeal to me, but I would love to see their complexity grow. Once you learn the ropes, things like mining and salvaging really are pretty simplistic.
Salvaging is my most relaxing game loop right now and I try to partake in as many of the orgs salvaging events. I would like to do more mining as well. On the other hand FPS is a favourite of mine, bunker runs with the org are a lot of fun. Great video, Tomato, very useful for new people and those overwhelmed by the scope of SC.
When I backed the game way back in Oct. 2012, I was most excited about exploration. Even though the scope of the game has expanded unbelievably since then - planet surfaces weren't even planned to be walkable back then, only some landing zones - I have very little hope for any meaningful and engaging exploration gameplay to be had. It's just inconceivable that CIG could pump out interesting locations at a rate that would keep exploration worthwhile. Procedural generation can only do so much after all. Exploration is one of those game loops that was never really defined and the tech not being there yet is no real excuse for that. It's understandable that a game of this scope that treads new ground with its server tech, planetary tech etc. etc. takes a very long time to make, but that shouldn't stop CIG from detailing their vision for game systems. Best example: what the heck is data running? What kind of data are you going to transport / sell? This can only work when interacting with NPCs (who aren't on Discord/Spectrum).
I believe things like missions, maps, planetary surveys, and commodity data will need to be transported in-game generally between systems to keep your Mobiglas updated. Messages and stuff will obviously be better off on Discord!
Star citizen must have a global universe petrol government , and the players can become officers and protech people form pirate AS JUSTICE SHALL BE SERVED!
I’m looking forward to good guy combat roles that pay a little more competitively. Exploration also sounds like a ton of fun in theory, but it feels like it’s much farther out.
So far bunker drug busting missions are my go-to, nevertheless, I hope to expand out to the new bounty hunting. If it allows for live capture of a bounty.
The game is good for anyone that comes in with an open mind and isn't preconditioned to hate it based on know-nothings who attack it over memes and hearsay they heard from someone that heard memes and hearsay from another person who made them up.
I heard so much hate a bullshit when I got into the game. Paid $45 and loved it. Still play it and may have put a little bit more money in to support the project
I actually quit playing when I learned about Engineering. I have a really erratic schedule with limited game time. It already pushes me to my limit doing what is in the game now.
Star Citizen definitely won't be a game for everybody. I'd consider seeing how the gameplay mechanic actually plays out before throwing in the towel. As I said, with small ships, you won't really notice a difference besides repairing your parts at stations.
There's always the grey area. Thinking so black and white only leads to limited gameplay. Pirates, non pirates, neither means nothing to me. They are both cash cows waiting to be used. Expand your horizons, see the bigger picture. Boiling everything down to base components and judging it is silly. Or don't. Makes no difference to me.
When I got into SC about a year ago I thought asteroids would be moving. I was wrong and im still sad they dont. The rings around planets would be so cool if they were moving or if you had to dodge asteroids or when on a planet you could see a comet in the sky.

Solo Drifter pretty much, nothing specific. Loots outposts, do bounties, deliveries, explore just because.

The "box monkey" is called a "Cargo Technician". Alternately, you might call them a deckhand.
The only defining principle in my opinion is the tractor beam, so I'm thinking it'll have many different names!

Well technically there are only 2 career paths. Pirate or not a pirate. This is the SC way.
That's like saying there re only 2 career path in irl: criminal and non criminal

piracy, economic system, logistics if youre running for an org, cargo loading
