I feel like you did this before. I also realized how many hours ahead New Zealand is from me, although it is after midnight here now. So many emotions I just went through 😮 😁 😢 😂
_(Applause)_ I was going to call this a little victory... but thinking about it, it's kinda one of the big things you've said that you wished they'd change for quite a while, so it's pretty darn significant.
@@NewZeroland I just went on my latest road trip last weekend and probably talked to 20+ people asking all about my SS9. Time and time again I told them the speed at which it charges, 23kw, and everyone boggled "why so slow?", but I had to tell them it's the fastest charging bike you can buy, at least. Still miles ahead of all the competition (pun intended).
It's 3 AM, because you're still half way around the world, but I smell something funny...SR/CCS seems too obvious. I'll watch it in the morning and instead watch some videos.
Great fool! Because there’s public evidence that Zero has had CCS support in the R&D pipeline since the first SR/F went to production. It’s in the firmware and also their supplier for the Gen3 chargers shows a DC to DC charger that downsteps the voltage. No idea of the specs, but even a 1C to 1.5C charger onboard the Gen3 bikes would totally change what those bikes are good for. I cannot imagine a technical reason for them to not have released it. In my mind, it must be about marketing and/or supply chain issues. But they should ship this to alleviate their problems delivering Charge Tanks to people.
Yes!! 100% 😳 This would be a complete game changer for Zero. Maybe with the new Philippines deal, they'll be able to keep the cost down enough to incorporate CCS in the next bike.
Sorry, this was the same April Fools video from last year, and I'll keep uploading it every year until Zero makes this bike. But to answer your question: no 😂
So... Did they figure out a way around the battery limitations of DC fast charging? DC fast charging slows down a lot after 60/80% of the battery capacity... With how small the batteries are, I'm assuming that it'll just take like 40 minutes instead of an hour to charge up...
Great questions! DC charging isn't much different, just faster. It usually gives you full power until 80% and then ramps down, so it's still a good idea to unplug at 80%. Check out ZeroFun's video for more info.
I've got some, like, totally reliable inside info from Energica that is very much related to this video: they have been blown away by Zero's incredible forward thinking and have been working for a long time on this news. As of today, they will halt DC charging capabilities in their motorcycles, even the existing ones thanks to an over-the-air update. They have noticed that 2 kW AC charging is probably more than fast enough to convince most gas bike drivers to make the switch. And after all, who doesn't like stopping for 5 hours every 120 kilometers? They will also copy the idea of software-locking half of the battery's capacity. You'll be able to unlock it for 4.1 dollars, though, but only on the first day of April, when Energica will organise a huge Energica Owners Fishing Trip in the Moroccan desert. Ok, I'll close the door behind me when I leave...
@@NewZeroland If I've learned anything from watching Marc Travels videos with his SR/F, the J1772 plug goes in perpendicular to the bike. My SR plug is parallel.
Are we going to repeat the same joke for years to come until they finally do it? I'm not sure if it's even the same video reuploaded xD Edit: got at the sign: yeah, it's the same video XD
@@NewZeroland ... Not yet, but according to insider information, Zero is developing a DC/DC converter for CCS charging for the SR/F, SR/S and DSR/X. Probably from 2024, module is already being tested. Since the converter takes the place of the 6 kW Rapid Charger, only 6 kW AC charging (equivalent to Livewire and Energica together) is then possible.
