This video helped me to decide on this tool, and I'm glad it did! This tool is a bargain for what you get. It's a very good tool, esp the hex driver. The only thing I would add though is this, get a 60mm hex shank bit holder to compliment the tool. It fits perfectly in the side of the pouch and perfectly in your hex driver. Thus then allows easy use of small hex bits.

I took your advice and bought this 21-in-1 to use as a spare. It certainly weighs as much as the 'Surge' I bought back in 2005, but the quality is far better than I expected! I paid £19.54 (on offer), and its build quality is far better than expected, so I thank you for reviewing it, also all the other multitools. It would be worth your while visiting Felix Immler here because his SAK mods are pretty amazing as are his 'tips & tricks'. All the best and many thanks - Wendi 🌻
ETA: The can opener tool is *very sharp* so be wary when opening, because the tool's edge has been well sharpened at manufacture! Also, I suggest giving this multitool a light oiling as it will preserve the steel from any rust, and enable the tools to open far more easily. With regular use, the multitool will ease up anyway.

I bought this one in 2019 and put it through some paces. I paid $32. It was very smooth and nice. I bought another one a couple of weeks ago, for $17 after discounts, it was rough, stiff, and returned.

I can't stop thinking about what you said about these pliers being more free/movable out of the box than Leatherman. I've had my Bond for a week and they're way stiffer still than the Bibury.

Yeah but after 3 weeks my wave is super lose. Theyre overly tight, so when they break in, they wont have super lose tolerances. My buddies at ace hardware use surges and they literally move as free as the free series after years of use.

I've used this tool for the last two years and it's been a total tank.
I glued a magnet in the bit holder and it holds all the bits nicely but the Leatherman ratchet falls out.
It's plenty heavy to carry in the pocket though.

  • @ravendon

Another mod you can do is add a stack of small magnets in the bit driver to bring the base up further. Then you can use any size bits.

You can also put a Leatherman bit in the bit holder. It's possible to leave it in the bit holder when closed. The retention of the knife is not great when closed. Not a big issue. Some play also when opened. Good for in the car

I actually seen someone using this on a motorcycle. They had a bit for sockets and they had the socket for they're battery. I gave them a ride to a battery place and they were able to replace they're battery with this muli tool. I looked up some videos and that's how I made it here. I am seriously thinking about getting it.

I've been using this one for over a year while doing heavy duty and it works perfectly. Still looks as good as new. I have the variant of Mossy Oak, is exactly the same multitool. Even used as a hammer because it is so heavy and of sturdy quality 😂

I bought a few budget multitools a while back, including this one. My impression of it is that it's the last multitool I'd want to get hit in the head with. It would be ok to throw in a drawer or something, but I wouldn't want to carry it. If I had to sacrifice one of my multitools to some damaging, degrading task, this would be the one I'd pick. At the time I figured for the price why not, but after I was like why did I buy this?

3 weeks ago I got the Bibury Multi Tool Pro aka the Leatherman Surge clone. On UK Amazon it was and still is £69. Because we have Prime I got it half price for £34.98. Now bear in mind, the Leatherman equivalent costs up to £170 here in some places, that's over £130 more for what is essentially the same thing. I really wanted the Leatherman, but like Harley Davidson, it costs way too much for the average person aka me!
I have used it more or less every day since it arrived and has done everything I have asked of it. All I can say is, keep up the good work Bibury, you get a 5* review from me.........

I have a bit extender that is about 27mm long (1.066 in). It doesn't quite hit the magnet so it's a bit lose. I glued a 2mm magnet on the end of the bit extender so it holds pretty good now

That's one of the reasons I haven't bought one yet, because I reckon then I would no longer carry my Farmer, Hiker or Climber. I know it's great as I have the normal Farmer, and the same scissors are on the Climber. But realistically once I am able to get one for a more reasonable price (at the moment they're £50 which is around $70) I'll probably pull the trigger.

@@robertoservadei4766 Even in other European countries like Germany and Netherlands they're around this price point too so it seems to be their global strategy to produce few and at a high price. I can get the standard Farmer for £23 so just to have scissors added more than doubles the price! Similar to the Compact, which has less tools (except for pen) but costs more than the Climber.

I ordered mine and it didn't have the bits and when I used my own, the magnet came out. I was going to order magnets but without the bits, I figured I would return it for a replacement and I still might order some magnets cause the magnet is fairly weak and I need a magnet for my bit screwdriver. I love the multi tool though and it's possible my magnet was defective cause it seemed to be falling apart. I found the size of magnets in a different video.

Just to add, but I had to send it back because I could have lacerated my thumb when opening the Can Opener - it's razor sharp! Unecessarily so. Amazon refunded me. It was a shame as the multitool was excellent, except for that truly wicked edge. Thanks for the like on my previous.

Just found this video and your channel so forgive this comment if repeats an idea you made in a follow up. In regards to the multitool"s bit driver not accepting standard bits without out them getting buried in the driver. You can buy mini neodymium magnet dots on amazon. Would it be possible to stack a few of them inside the driver. That would solve the problem, still allow extentions to be used, and give greater magnetic retention to the bit and screws. Just a thought. Thanks for going over budget gear.
