  • I want to sculpt random faces with you guys, because they're fun! But I first want to show you how I set things up, and how I made this practice mask armature. Oh, and how does LIVE sculpting sound? It's coming very soon... tomorrow if I can arrange it! I want to do live sculpting using this practice face/mask armature! Tell me what you think!?
    In this video I create a mask/face armature using plastilina clay as a form, covering that with Apoxie Sculpt. The face form is vague to enable practicing on. But this same technique can be used for something specific too, and for any shape/form so long as you can "build" the empty space hidden within the object. In other words, to build a lightning bolt for example, first form a lightning bolt out of clay then cover it with Apoxie Sculpt
    ♥ U guys.
    SUBSCRIBE!!
    Tell your people the "Bob Ross of Clay" is going live soon, and to stop by for short moment of peaceful relaxing sculpting.

    I think if you want to do live sculpting..you should. Why not =) You do amazing work. Thank you for showing the setup for doing sculpting. I am in a polymer clay retreat and will be learning how to make a sculpted dragon. I am just getting into polymer clay and so far I am loving it. I do like to learn and see the tips and tricks used to make projects the right way and to make them fun to do. I look forward to seeing more =)

    I happend upon your channel because I am using Polymer clay to build mold blanks for fishing lures that are called swimbaits. I am using polymer clay because I dont have access to 3D printing tools or a wood working shop, I learned alot from your tutorials on using foil and armature wire. its going to help out alot.

    yay new video!! :) I love making faces with clay. It is one of my most favorite things to make. I also found I really love making fish with clay as well. :D I would totally drill holes in those teeth and make a necklace using beads to give some spacing. :p Your voice is so soothing and mellow. You should do readings or something for that Calm app. :D Good to see you again and hope you are having fun working on the house. :) I am doing spring cleaning(actually decluttering) and having a blast doing it. - Heidi

      I been in the woods a lot too, just dug up a large pine tree the other day. Pushing the "good yard" back about 50 feet or so but leaving every tree possible save for sick/dead or ill-placed. It's a LOT of work but already exposed 2 beautiful huge trees back there! I really enjoy remaking the yard but now I gotta divide my time! RUclips, forward! :D Thanks Heidi!

      @@TheBroodingTom Yeah I had to trim a tree back today in a few places. I love the tree and it is beautiful especially while still green but covered in a light dusting of snow... still love that photo I shot. :) However getting smacked in the face while walking the path to my front porch isn't that fun so I trimmed the half dozen branches that had grown out too far. I am also keeping a close eye on my mulberry trees. I know a watched pot never boils but I can't wait for them to ripen so the dogs and I can eat some. :D

    So happy you’re back Tom, I love your videos and will always watch no matter what you do!
    I just bought some plastelina clay(not sure of the spelling) and was wondering if I could use it to make a form thinking it might not release, you answered my question😄 anxious to see more😊

      I tell you what things like this will always be crazy to read for me, surreal even. I can't thank you enough for sticking around it means a lot! Plastelina clay is actually not too bad, I should have cut the Apoxie Sculpt away from the marble with the tip of my palette knife while the clay was still soft. Having said that I still want to test out polymer clay too lol.
      Aww don't be anxious (thanks!) cause I'm 97% sure I'm going live today once my wife gets home. A test run so to speak, but I'd like to shoot for at least 30 minutes and have a face somewhat completed lol :D I could have some of the parts and pieces already made, simple things like the first sheet that goes on to help it move along. we'll see. Like I said it's a test run but would love to do this often, if both easy to do and enjoyable

    I like this idea. How did you affix the armature to the turntable?

    • @TheBroodingTom
      @TheBroodingTom  4 года назад

      there is several ways I do it depending on what I'm doing. In this case I used Plastlina clay (oil based) and work it onto the surface. It's stays put quite well. (I only do it this way if I'm making a shell with apoxie sculpt btw) But if using straight polymer clay, see my tiger face demonstration ruclips.net/video/gcn240TAuO0/видео.html You can tape a larger square piece of waxpaper onto the turntable, cover it with tape (to add strength to it) then tape your foil armature TO that wax paper. This method allows you to then cut the sculpture free afterwords from the turntable or whatever surface you don't want to put into the oven. I think seeing it done will explain it better lol. Hope this helps.
